It’s not too bad. I thought the leopard 1 with its bouncy barrel and no heat, and stuff like the squad premiums without thermals or penetrators were worse.
That APCR grind is diabolical. It is a decent tank but that grind left me sour on the M-48. I really wonder why gaijin saddled it with stock APCR. I can see if you have a potentially dominant tank, you saddle it with something to slow down the grind, but that description doesn't seem to apply for the M-48. Also, as a general statement, I wish they would analyze the performance of all the ammo in the game, fix underperforming shells (solid, APCR, APDS, HESH) and confirm or fix nuke rounds. I don't mean adjust, I mean if 2 shells have similar velocity, explosive filler, etc. make them conform to physics, not balance.
Back when 7.7 was top tier it made sense to handicap it by making it start with APCR since almost no other tanks in the game used HEATFS at that time but nowadays Gaijin has pretty much forgotten the existence of the OG M48A1 so my guess is that they just never bothered to update the modification grind for the M48 so that it fits better with the current meta
@@Lo-tf6qt I think that is a large part of it. Also, APCR used to be at least marginally effective. I haven't played in a while but it looks like they have buffed it slightly a little while ago...
Honestly, last time I did a patton stock grind I didn't think it was that bad But do you know know what was bad... the Churchill NA75 stock grind until APHE and even then it's a real mix bag😂
Until you get the HEAT round and APHE, this is a trash within game. Yet the shape of M48 is so good to high calibre HEAT round in the front… Somehow a trade off.

I just crewed this thing today, and stock experience isnt that bad, i enjoyed the stock APCR for its BR.
I guess you just enjoy apcr if you DIDN'T go for aphe as first mod

I did this grind in german and Israeli tree and it is a reason why I refuse to grind US ground. I do not want to suffer anymore...

Nah the worst one is the m60 ambt at 10.0
Not a stock grind though. Plus the Bushmaster is great vs all the light vehicles you fight.

It is honestly criminal that the Churchill NA75 can face Panthers and Tigers when it barely has any advantages over a regular 75mm Sherman
