I have some of ACK's but haven't tried it yet so your review is very timely and useful. It seemed to me that as you were putting on the wax finish the shine came to it's maximum at about 500 RPM then diminished when you continued on to 1020 RPM. Then the shine juice really brought the gloss to a peak. Thanks for sharing from Marietta, GA.
@@PohlBarnProductions I agree! Subsequent use has convinced me I like the abrasive paste very well. I have them and have to a lil R&D but I will have that video up next Tuesday, there isn't a process on how to use them yet I will be doing that. hopefully
will do, I need to figure out speeds so we don't burn it up, I tested it on another project, I did sand the scratches out of it first but even the side I tested it on that wasn't sanded it made a big difference with just the first part, the finished piece looked like glass, one of those souvenir you get from a place with something embedded in the block of resin

Great review and demo Doug!! It’s absolutely my favorite finish I have ever used. I used to use shine juice over it but I now only use the paste because I love the semi gloss finish. Bought some of the Ack's Sanding/Polish paste. Used it on a resin bowl I'd had trouble finishing. It did a superb job even though it's supposed to be for wood. Also worked pretty good on a Redwood and Poplar Flower design bowl. Thanks for the intro to Ack's. Definitely will be looking for their resin products. Texas.
Thank You Bob, yes you can get resin to shine up nicely with just the abrasive paste if you run a second time with it and just rub it lightly until the scratches go away,

That Ack's really is awesome stuff - I'm in North Carolina and I've already bought some so give it away to someone else; BUT that stuff really is great and I can't wait to get my hands on their resin version.

I'm not sure if it's the punky nature, or if it's just a coincidence, but every piece of wood that you've said was punky has turned out really nice. Great job! i would really like to try it. I live in Waterloo, NY
Thank You Loren
The shine on that is awesome! I love shiny too. That’s a perdy one. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank You Thank You Debbie
I would love to try some out. I’m in The USA, Kansas more specifically.
Thank You Corey
How does this compare to yorkshire grit? Im from Winfield, IL
it works the same if not better IMO, nothing wrong with YG other than the logistics, but you get both these products for the same price as the YG
The bowl turned out beautifully. I like the high shine too but sometimes for food safety reasons I guess ya have to settle for the matte finish which isn't all that bad...
I'm not entering the contest.. thanks, but please give it to one of the turners.. someone that could get some used out of it.
Thank You Nena, you know your name is gonna pop up now. LOL I'll just redo it if it does.
@@PohlBarnProductions ... Thank you sir.
I've been using Ack's and I love it!
Thank you Carol, I'm sure Tom appreciates it !
What was the last finish item you applied to the bowl ?
the OB Shine Juice, that was just to show everyone that a friction polish could be applied over top of the Ack's restoring paste,
I love the soft shine of the Ack's! Glad to know it's food safe. I'm just starting turning and foresee salad bowls in my near future. 😛 I'm about an hour east of you in Michigan.
Thank You Ruth, I use to live over that way another half hour, to crazy over there for me anymore.
Awesome like always man! Did you already sell all the green and black murder pens? From northern Michigan :)
Thank you Travis, yes someone snatched that up before my wife could finish the add for it,
Nice review Doug! We are finding very similar results. Looking forward to the resin paste review! I’m interested to see what your thoughts are! Please don’t enter me in the giveaway, it should go to someone that isn’t already using it!
Thank you Mert, Ok well if you pop up I can see your comment I think and I will redo the random pick
love shiny, what is your shine juice ? well done, loved the video
Thank you Thank you

Thank You Ross
The friction polish looks better in my opinion too. I don’t know what it is about the process, but I just love friction polishing. Texas
Thank You Curry
No problem. I just stumbled on your videos a few days ago. I’ve been watching from the beginning when I can, and this new one auto-played. I also watch Nick and NJB. I’ve been out of turning for a little while now due to illness, but hope to start again soon.
oh those videos arent that great, LOL had no idea what the hell I was doing back then, I was just doing it.
That is true, but most people don’t. I like to watch the evolution.
That Ack's really is awesome stuff - I'm in North Carolina and I've already bought some so give it away to someone else; BUT that stuff really is great and I can't wait to get my hands on their resin version.
Thank You Hunter, will do per your request. I've already got it ! LOL but I have to do the R&D with it.
Pretty little bowl :) you always get a nice shine on your resin projects so that it’ll be interesting to see if their new pastes for finishing resin makes a difference.
I’m not eligible cos I’m in Australia 🇦🇺
Thank You Ratchel, I'm sorry I do hope you understand,
Pewaukee Wi, love the channel.
Thank you
Colorado Springs, I look forward to some more vids and hope to be able to try this on some of my own projects. Keep up the good work Doug.
Thank You Gary
Great review and beautiful bowl - Fred in Texas
Thank You Fred
The bowl looks great! Thanks for the review:👍🏻
Thank You Jason
What is the right oil to polish maple
not sure, what ever works for you, I've been through many different products that I was not happy with but other get great finishes from.
Cool review it really douse do what it says on the lid
Thank you Richard, I know you've used it ! I just tweaked the process to my liking a bit.
I'm not sure if it's the punky nature, or if it's just a coincidence, but every piece of wood that you've said was punky has turned out really nice. Great job! (I wouldn't have a use for the paste so leave me out of the contest) (Also, I'm not sure why I keep having duplicate comments, but I only clicked the button once. Please forgive me, it won't let me delete the copy.)
Thank You , no problem I can remove them
