Mercer and Mercier were always so close that most people didn’t even notice it was a different guy. Add to the fact that the last names are almost the same makes it even more confusing

I really like that Nick made his voice a newer, fresher version of Leon. He hasn’t experienced trauma, he’s still optimistic and bright, so he wouldn’t sound as depressed
But then in infinite darkness he still sounds like a 20 year old even thought it takes place after RE4....
How do you know that was a choice? Also how does a voice reflect someone who hasnt experienced trauma? If you mean he doesnt sound despearate and on edge, thats more to do with delivery than the voice.

Nah i dont like his voice. Ever since i played re2 his voice stuck out to me.
I completely agree. He was fantastic as young Leon. I look forward to seeing how he does in the RE4 remake, but I do think he should make his voice sound a little gruffer for that one.

Paul Mercier's and Matthew Mercer's voice as Leon is by far the best in the whole franchise of RE, i think they give a true performance of voicing Leon cuz they really personify the voice of how Leon would really sound as a person if he was real. Paul and Matthew gave the best voices of Leon

Paul Haddad was the voice of a character who made a huge impact on the Resident Evil story. It is a great irony that he died of throat cancer and that he could not be treated because of the COVID-19 virus, he will be remembered by all the fans of the popular franchise.
is this information official? I know he had stage 3 throat cancer, but I didn't know that he died because he was not treated because of the pandemic. I am know it now and it just makes me sadder.
Absolutely false. He did have throat cancer but recovered from it. He died from a botched surgery involving an implant in his brain that was being used to treat his extreme case of OCD. He had stated a GoFundMe weeks prior to his death to help with his medical bills that explains this fully. Not sure why people are spreading misinformation.

Matthew Mercer is fantastic as an older Leon. He digs deep at certain points and really makes you feel the world weariness that Leon has developed over a fight that's taken a toll on him. Very well done.

I really like Paul Haddad voice, he's the ideal for what Leon would sound like and Nick Apostolides did a awesome job keeping that vibe. Also sad news Rest in Peace Paul 🙏
Yeah I think I like Nick the most, he sounds like a more fleshed out version of Paul Hadda, with a touch Paul Mercier's humor, Hadda did a pretty good job in the original, but you can hear that the VAs didn't have a strong direction, which is why the dialogue sounds a little awkward in context, but is fine on its own.
The other actors are also pretty good, but they're all just doing a "cool guy" voice without much personality, with the exception of Paul Mercier who gets some pretty funny one liners in RE4, but he too suffers from generic cool guy performance in other resident evil games and movies, mainly because the dialogue in Darkseid Chronicles and Degeneration is so strictly serious 24/7.

I have mostly the same opinion, other than the original being rather poorly done. Then again if I'm being fair, voice acting for Japanese ports back in the 90s were all pretty much terrible. That's why even though the live action performance was better than the original, it has to lose due to the context of the 90s.

I’m overall impressed with Leon’s voice cast in the games and CGI. Nick redefined a 21 year rookie Leon after the late Paul Haddad. Matt Mercer had so much emotion though

They did a great job finding people to do Leon's voice. They were all pretty consistent as far as making sure he sounds similar to the others throughout Leon's appearances. Even the live action actor sounds similar to the voice actors. Should've been clean shaven, though, in my opinion. Leon has never had scruff until the live action movie.

Eh I think the live action performance was the second worst, even if it was better than the original. Also, the live action RE movies should be stricken from the cannon (if they aren't already). As movies, they're okay. As resident evil story, they're dog shit. I mean, the first one effectively ended the fucking world, but they still had the gall to make more. I admit I never watched the ones after the first, but I can't imagine any Deus Ex Machina could fix the world ending nature of the first damn movie. Also, Mila Jovovich is so damn hot.

I personally love the games, live action, and the capcom movies, but if you were a real fan, you'd know that the Alice version of the RE movies are in it's on world anyway and NOT canon. That's literally the fucking point. When they asked for the rights to make them, they agreed that the Live action movies would not be canonical to the Capcom series at all. It was literally one giant AMAZING fanfiction that yes, got bumpy, confusing, and down right stupid in some parts, but as someone who grew up with it, i savored every fucking minute and hung on to every release and now proudly own the entire collection of Live action movies. You can hate them all you want, but dont add that you like her at the end like that changes your whole statement. 💁

Leon has some scruff in RE 6 and in the movie RE Damnation, you can see it in this video as well.
I may have grown up well enough with Paul Mercer as a kid being obsessed with RE4, then with Matthew Mercer in RE6 during my teenhood. But I can tell you that I didn’t had all the spare time to know Paul Haddad too well; however, I still had plenty of time to see his role as Leon after watching my older brother play RE2 on PS2. May not be my favorite Leon actor, but I’d like his performance in making history in creating Leon and bringing him into our lives during gaming. So, RIP to this guy. Wished he stayed alive longer for a couple of more years to greet his fans and bring comfort to everyone around him.

Nick, hands down. Not only does he express such emotion and energy, but also a real growth and maturity in Leon from the RE2 and RE4 (remakes). It's not just entertaining--it's powerful!
Paul mercier because he is very versatile in voice acting. The dude was the merchant and leon kennedy in resident evil 4. Nick is my new fave and Matt mercer is awesome too.
I think Matt did a good job as this more grizzled, damaged Leon from 6 onward, but Nick as young Leon is amazing as well.

Nick Apostolides did a wonderful job as young Leon. But it might be his only Leon stint, unless Capcom produces an RE game that features Leon prior to the events of RE4. Or if Nick can portray Leon in his older years.
Nick will never pull off older Leon. They'll call back Mercer or Mercier, they're fan favorites and honestly the only ones good enough for older Leon.

Roberto Lopez kinda new to the whole series so I never really grew up playing the games or anything, I actually just started watching people play them and since my first introduction to the character was the remake, it just seems more fitting to me, it also fits the model and vibe they were going for in the remake to me with the young cop thing, idk all the other ones make him sound real gravely and dark which probably fits the older character but like I said, only really know the remake version lol
