    Good luck with the second batch... we got some Black and Blue Coppers from an eBay sellers a couple years ago... we might have gone through the same person 😉

    I actually learned something new. Males sense to run the incubator for a day or so before putting eggs in. Thanks man!

    Great tips on hatching eggs. We had a lot better success from our own eggs. I think the transit messes them up. Good luck on second hatch.

    Good tips!
    We actually use a wireless outdoor thermometer that we place inside the incubator to monitor the temp and humidity at a glance from our living room. We have been lucky and have over an 85% hatch rate.
    We also use an incubator with the turner.

    • @arrowridge2770
      @arrowridge2770  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ours has a thermometer built in also so thats really nice. 85% is great!

      @@arrowridge2770 Ours has built in temp and humidity but I put the wireless in to monitor them more easily and stay on top of any fluctuations without having to be in the room with the incubator. It works for us and is a cheap solutions as the wireless temp stations can be bought cheap online for less then $10-$15

      i see- thats cool you dont have to be in the room. we are getting ready to candle ours soon, hopefully we'll have a better hatch rate this time

    Hello. If you had ONLY two choices of 99 degrees Fahrenheit OR 100 degrees Fahrenheit on your forced air incubator which would you choose for Mandarin duck eggs?

    • @arrowridge2770
      @arrowridge2770  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well we have never hatched any Mandarin ducks but we do know a guy who has and he recommends 99 degrees

    It’s usually a good idea to leave the chicks in for at least 48 hours if there are more eggs in there. They can live the first 3 days of life without food and water. But if you open the incubator too early, the other eggs might shrink wrap and therefore chicks inside will die.

    • @arrowridge2770
      @arrowridge2770  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      While I agree it is best to leave chicks in the incubator as long as possible we have had hatches go 4 days so sometimes you have to go in and get them you have to be quick 😉and monitor your humidity.

    Do you know what's the easiest way to tell if a baby has died in the egg? I'm hatching coturnix quails.

    • @arrowridge2770
      @arrowridge2770  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      With quail if your eggs haven't pipped and you are past day 21 of incubation it is safe to assume (1). your eggs were not fertile because quail normally hatch by day 16-18. (2) There was a problem during incubation and your eggs didn't fully develop. If you are between day 16-18 of Incubation with no pipping. You can take a bowl of 99 degree water and check your eggs, if the egg float/bobs there is an air pocket hence a viable chick! if the eggs sink they are not viable and should be discarded. Only do this if you have not heard or seen any evidence of pipping and your eggs are at 16 days in the Incubator. Hope this helps

    • @gudadada
      @gudadada 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are only on day 8 or so I'm not at that stage yet I'm more talking about like when candling if there's any visible way to tell. Later on I'll make sure to try those methods, thanks. Do only fertile eggs have an air pocket?@@arrowridge2770

    • @arrowridge2770
      @arrowridge2770  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe all eggs have air pockets in them. Here is an example of candling quail eggs and what you should look for: th-cam.com/video/ZaQkaxMgyIk/w-d-xo.html

    Im Curious to know how the hatch went since it's been 3 months. How many hatched?

    • @arrowridge2770
      @arrowridge2770  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not great we had a single chick from this hatch we had incubator issue the week or so it really struggled to hold a consistent temp So for next year we will be replacing our incubator

      I'm hatching eggs from Ebay right now and this is my first time ordering eggs off ebay.
      The box I received had several eggs broken. Trying to hatch 10 eggs now in a new incubator, Magicfly.
      Were on day 3.
      I'm hoping I at least get 1 or 2 olive eggers.
