How's it going everyone? This is another railway mv (music video). The video today is a song from early days of steam preservation and was written and performed by a former BR (British Railways) Engine Driver during the late days of mainline steam. The name of this man was David Goulder, a person who would find he had a talent for playing guitar and that would become the main instrument in nearly all his songs.

“Ten big wheels to roll her along, just a working girl on the Lickey. Bertha’s the name, in the hall of fame, she was the only one of her kind, first and last of her line.”

"She was Fowler's dream and in first was steam as 1920 dawned, she served her time on the two mile line until the diesel age was born."

It a shame that the old girl wasn’t preserved but at least her legacy lives on with her memories truly the first and last of her kind and a wonderful machine

Dave Goulder was a BR fireman he never got to driver due to a eyesight defect
which took him off the footplate and left the railway in 63

She was made from different materials the parts had to be made so she couldn’t run anymore

It's not the material that were the issue, it was the specialised parts such as the cylinders being a unique design that doomed her.

Her parts were manufactured and difficult to make not to mention have laying around. She was a very unique engine but lack of those special parts for replacements and her being pushed to her max without any real repairs it was safe to say British rail scrapped her rather then put in the time and effort for making those parts.
