The fact that this absolute unit was not preserved is a crime
She was built with many parts that were small and specially manufactured for her specifically it would take more time than what another engine or more two could do instead of replacing her worn parts she was scrapped :(
@@DrIudwigplus another factor was the introduction of an almost just as powerful giant, the BR Standard class 9F, infact one , No.92079 would replace Bertha, inheriting the Headlamp

I really wish Big Berta was preserved. You know how cool it would be to see her at the NRM or see her taking a rail tour on the BBR? I hope a replica of her gets made

I do think that the group of Railway Preservation's who built Tornado have tossed around the idea of building a 1:1 Replica of Big Bertha, but after they build their P2 class next year, if it does become a reality, she would problaby be finished in 2027 - 2028 or something like that, and yes, she would probably take tours to the NRM
She had many tiny key components that were manufactured to serve a Big purpose there were so many that they decided to scrap her.

Bertha, along with the LMS Garratts, was never given an official power classification or top speed rating, she was more than powerful enough to handle any load thrown her way, so it was deemed pointless to find a theoretical maximum load.

Me too but they had reasons I'd agree with her parts were limited but they should had sold her to heritage railways but atleast some of her parts are preserved

@@toyreckjunction there’s this molly story I’ve always had in my mind it’s were molly meats duncan and when she sees how grumpy duncan is she tries to find out why he’s so grumpy and how to make him happy I mainly thought of this because there both yellow engines.
