In this video I’m just recapping what I’m doing with the truck but this is not a How-To.
I removed the front and rear differentials to have them regeared to 5.29’s from the factory 4.30’s and install a Eaton E-Locker in the rear.
I did not want to fuss with air lines or solenoids with my ARB Twin and I wanted the option of instant locking ability so Eaton was my clear choice.
The install is complete, and as of this video upload I am in the process of doing the 500 mile break-in on the new gears, so I will do a follow up video of highway and road driving as well as function of the locker once I’ve gotten past the break-in point. I chose to go with 80w-90 conventional gear oil from Valvoline for the break in and will be switching to synthetic 75w-90 after I drain the oil.
I want to give a thank you to Geoffrey at Agility Customs for handling the gear set-up on my differentials and for his efficiency and communication. He had my gears ready about 24 hours after I dropped them off.
Noticed your cab mount chop. Any issues not welding the plate back? Thats the way i want to go.
No issues whatsoever. I’ll eventually get around to welding a plate on it but it’s so far down my priority list. It’s a non-issue.
How much did It cost to have the gears set up?
I thought most 4wd Tundras came with 5.29 rear gears!
4.10’s and 4.30’s are your two choices
@@beehivetundra oh right! 430. Not 529. Thanks
I am planning to run the 37 on the 4.30 gears.
@@AngerManagementOverland im running 35s and man the gas mileage is horrible which i dont care my commute is 6 miles round trip but still even on the weekends its really bad.
@@fredwilliams7893 You didn’t buy a Tundra for the gas mileage to begin with though.
