I have this issue after jump starting the car, but the rear button is not illuminated and the button doesn't respond. When pressed at the driver door or key fob, the opening and closing tone sounds, but no action other than the latch unlocking. Ideas?
The problem went away on it's own after a dead main battery. I jumped the vehicle and got a new battery. After 'jumping' the vehicle, the system must have relearned something. The issue I have now, unfortunately, is it died again! 5 months after the tailgate had been working flawlessly, I believe I may have one of the two issues. Bad lock actuator , Code B182813 (open circuit - remote trunk operation) w/ Icarsoft II, P/N: 2047401300 Genuine Mercedes - $200 may not require SCN coding. Funny things happen when you have bad batteries. I am wondering if there is corrosion in the N121/1 control unit or the hydraulic system, if there is a parasitic drain from corrosion, this may explain dead batteries. I do not believe it is the N121/1 unit which requires Xentry/DAS SCN coding when replacing is the issue, why? When I emergency release the tailgate , motors work fine and keyfob or buttons on tailgate, or button on driver door all LIFT, STOP LIFT, CLOSE TAILGATE... it is when the latch locks that is becomes unusable because the lock actuator fails to release.
One more thing... I have not pulled the panels to check corrosion and no blown fuses. I do get a resistance reading when running continuity on FUSE 152 that is 1.7-1.8 This tailgate has been finnicky for the past two years and may have been failing. Sometimes when closing, the tailgate would abruptly stop... most likely pinch sensor. This is in the trim sides of the tailgate body panels by the motor/struts. The other item, when releasing and beginning opening process, it sometimes releases but failed to fully open or would struggle and get going and fully open. My best guess is a lock actuator motor that has been failing P/N: 2047401300 Genuine Mercedes

Before you fixed it, were the buttons illuminated or off? My buttons are dark now.

Bro I have a ml63 amg 2008 my lift doesn’t work I noticed I don’t have lights on my button for the auto lift ... no blown fuses either. Any clues?
