    i bought this camera back in 2015, 2nd hand and I'm still using it now. I love it more more when i started shooting raw.. :) Prime lens is all i need! haha

    The Panasonic GX1 was a premium camera when it was launched, not a bargain camera. Camera bodies like the GF line were budget cameras, but not the GX line. I still have mine. Very nice and robust camera. Only problem, for me, are the poor JPG's. But I shoot RAW so, it's not a big issue.

    You can replace the touch screen interface on this device; for about US$20. It's a simple replacement if you are comfortable with such matters and have some basic tools common with smartphone repairs.

    This was my first MFT and it's still going strong! Crazy that Panasonic perfected touchscreen controls way back in 2012 and most Sony cameras hadn't caught up until very recently. Plus sturdy aluminium body, great handling and RAW quality that punches well above its weight.
    The ptool firmware hack can enable 35Mbps 1080i but if you have a more recent camera I don't see the point in using it for video. It's unfortunately the most obsolete part. Nice images!

      Is that normal?

      @@amirulhakim3783 that's normal. touch doesn't work in settings. only for AF pinpointing, touch shutter, the onscreen buttons and in playback view where it's most useful.

    Got one for free from my sister, looking forward to use it. It's like brand new... 20 photos shot with it, been sitting under the bed since it was bought 10+ years ago. Also got it with a set of 3 brand new lenses.

    One thing I like about this camera is the metal body. It feels so expensive. A major issue is shutterstock which blurs photos.

    Would you describe the image quality as filmic? Like ektar 100 or proimage 100?

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say that it can definitely be filmic depending on the settings that you use. I haven’t yet tried the proimage 100 film yet, so I would say it would be closer to Ektar 100. That said, with how the files are produced from this camera, it’s very easy to tweak it to any of the more common classic look. :-) Hope that helps a little… 😅😅 I thank you very much for watching, wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! ☺️☺️

    how does this camera compare to the sony ilce 5000 mirrorless camera?

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say that the sony a5000 will take better photos in terms of dynamic range, retaining more details in the shadows as well as highlights. Furthermore, the a5000 have bigger sensor as well as which will allow the camera to perform better in low light as well as taking cleaning low light images yet retaining more details. The bigger sensor will also mean that it is easier to get a blurry background while shooting portraits, if that is something that you are into. I think that the a5000 will be a better investment on the long run especially when considering it offers more for a not that much bigger size of a form factor. The menu system of the sony will be more time consuming to go through and harder to operate though if any thing. But you will have better autofocus performance as well as a much more capable camera! Furthermore, if you want to shoot video, the a5000 will deliver much better video quality as well as more manual controls should you wish you have more manual controls :-)
      Hope that helps somewhat, thank you for watching and have a great time :-)

    hey what do you think of this compared to the gm1??

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In my experience, the gm1 will have better image quality in terms of dynamic range, colour depth and robust files in case you want to edit the images. The gm1 will also record a bit clearer audio and the camera is overall a tiny bit easier to use than this camera. If you are taking pictures of fine details, the gm1 will not show as much aliasing as moiré (though still apparent). The gm1 is also a tiny bit better in low light situations as well as focuses a tiny bit faster and more sensitively.
      I hope this helps. Thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
