I always assumed the 30% was net salary... if it's 30% of gross, it would be be quite a chunk especially as tax, NIA and workplace pension are deducted first. I am single though, so have to foot all costs and I budget everything around net, not gross. I agree with budgeting more than needed for sure, so many extra costs.
Thanks so much for this. I bought a new house about 8 months ago and never remembered to congratulate myself... 😅 I got carried away with the snags, decorating etc.
Congratulations on the house! I think one point to even add if i may is that as immigrants we sometimes feel like we're doing something wrong when we struggle with understanding the entire process of buying a house but it's actually not an immigrant thing, it's a general UK think. I've had white British colleagues pull their hair out with the stress and confusion. On another note, if you want to leave, leave oh. The fear of not sure you're being permanent was one of the reasons lots of older Nigerian immigrants I know never bought houses when they could have easily afforded to. Barring Russia laying siege to the UK, buying a house is a really good investment and the process to sell or rent or even Air BnB is not as difficult. Obviously lots of paperwork, but not difficult at all. Anywho, all the best in your new home! I hope you both make lots of lovely memories there!
Hi Chidera, congratulations on your home. Please what were the challenges you encountered as a tier 2 holder when trying to buy a home. Was told it’s tougher for immigrants than citizens. Please reply
If you wanna pop that champagne, pop it love it 🎉😅 Buying our second property and it is a long process and quite stressful but like you said have to sit back and it is a big achievement. Thank you for the heads up. I am just subscribed and liked your video.
Hi Chidera, congratulations on your new home! I recognise the developer for your property as my husband and I are due to complete in Mar for our property with the same developer. What was your experience with them like? We've already had an issue where we can see the work carried out is not what we paid for so we've had to ask them to rectify it.
Educational video as always. Commenting on the point where you said you cant really "go anywhere" because you now have a house ,like you are tied down in quote, or you have to wait for at least 5years so it will appreciate in value before you sell it , i mean you can rent it😅, you don't have to necessarily stay if you don't want to, rent it and when the time reach, you sell it 😂(i dont even know if i am making sense 😂
Yeah but when you buy a house as your own residential property and choose to rent it out, it can be a hassle. As the banks would have to be involved, you’ll need to get permission from them before you rent it. And the process in the U.K. is stressful 😅
The content was really good overall, but hearing "borrow" instead of "lend" at the start did irk me a bit tbh, but hey, we use "borrow" for both in Nigeria 😀
They offer only the money u need and as chideea said it’s a transition from bank to solito to developer that’s why I always personally advice to save more money for that purpose and for in case something happens in the house especially if it’s not new a building… ( I needed to replace my boiler few months after buying my property)
@chidera peters, This comment is a slightly separate comment, I have sent you an email with a business inquiry. It may have gone into spam so thought to take a chance and message you here!
Totally unrelated comment @chidera, however I have sent you a business email inquiry and wonder if you would be willing to help. Hope it hasn't gone into spam! I look forward to hearing from you.

Me and my husband are in the process of buying a house and your videos have helped a lot. Thanks Chidera !!! all the best
Everything here is on point.
Especially being a Landord and not settling in immediately. It might take you months before it starts to feel like home

Great video and content. Thank you.
Really love your content. You give in-depth information. Out of topic but can you show us how to go into content creation 😢

Be aware of previous owners if they have done work themselves a DIY guy it could bite you further down the line having to correct there bodges
Thank you for sharing valuable content always❤

@@ChideraPeters yes you are correct my sister
You looking good girl ❤
Your points are valid
Mmmmmmmuah thank you, those unforeseen expenses ehhh uhmmm ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Good content as always ❤
Glad you think so!
Thank you for the video. Which credit card company would you recommend? Thanks.
I have discovered that most new builts are far from schools.
Good advice!
I really don't understand the 30% ceiling thing. Am sure that depends on the deposit you've and the interest rate. The location also matters.
Banks borrow you based on the mortgage amount,
❤ nice points
Thank youuuu
Hello ❤
It's been 3weeks ma, hope all is well?
Thank you so much
Hi new subscriber here, do you have any recommendations on.how to find a reputable morgage advisor/ broker, hoping to start my journey soon😊
Fair points there. Just a bit of grammatical correction, the bank “lends” you money. You “borrow” from the bank. Cheers.
The content was really good overall, but hearing "borrow" instead of "lend" at the start did irk me a bit tbh, but hey, we use "borrow" for both in Nigeria 😀
Hey Chidera congratulations 🎉to you and yours! Can one sublet a mortgaged house ?
Yes you can but it involves a lot of paperwork with the mortgage lender e.g. the bank
You are the best ❤thanks
You're welcome 😊
Expensive make-up strapless bra thank you for sharing your brilliant content thoughts and wisdumb 😂
Can you use part of the money from bank to furnish the house
No you can’t. You don’t even have access to the money as it is paid directly to the solicitor and they pay it directly to the developers
They offer only the money u need and as chideea said it’s a transition from bank to solito to developer that’s why I always personally advice to save more money for that purpose and for in case something happens in the house especially if it’s not new a building… ( I needed to replace my boiler few months after buying my property)
