The information in our videos is not guaranteed as accurate, but as our opinion.
We have a glassed in and screened lanai whic is hated an cooled. Our palm trees protect us from the sun. Love it. Because you get the info and outdoors all the timw. The breeze is wonderful
In a few years after I return from my stroke we will plan on a nice trip to celebrate myr recovery. Pray I recover soon
We have a north facing lanai that is not glassed in- with the master bedroom on the west side of the lanai blocking the afternoon sun. We sit out EVERY DAY - rain or shine. The fan in the lanai is awesome. Hot or cold. If still too hot go to the local pool and get wet and then come back in sit in your lanai or take the house or spray bottle and spray yourself off. Plenty cool then. We love it and wouldn’t glass it in even it was free. We love feeling the weather and nature and the lighting storms- without the bugs that is. We don’t let the temp stop us from doing what we want. I may or may not weed and play golf at 1pm- but swim in the pool water volleyball or walk the nature trails that are shaded. Or join a class or activity in doors or head to one of many country clubs or other eating establishments for lunch!
That is how you do it!!! 😁😁
15 months later you are as refreshing as you are currently ❤ Missed my buddy Gizmo tho!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
You two are Village Rock Stars
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😅😅
My favorite video...I wash the glass jars and soda can.....We have a glass Lani with split air conditioner.... It's to hot 🔥🔥🔥 a screen in porch in the summertime.... I really enjoyed the villages and I am so glad that diverse people feel welcome and comfortable... We were raised in Queens New York.. and all our neighbors was from different cultures and we got along and enjoyed each other.... See you in The Villages...
I rinse soda cans and jars too.
Linda, what a beautiful graduation pic...no wonder you are so pretty today as well :)...Jerry lookin' dapper in yours as well.I have the feeling that Linda's inside is just as beautiful.Fantastic video and Giz is an added bonus.Thank you two fol all of the fun.
You're so nice, Ellen!

❤️&✌️
EZ Pass is not accepted on the Turnpike. The toll roads in and around Orlando do take it though, but that is a different agency.
Yes, The Villages are receptive to racial diversity. Yes, people may not see alot of minorities in The Villages but that’s not The Villages fault. Every person we met in The Villages are friendly and welcoming. Race or color is a non-issue. Folks in The Villages just want to spend the remainder of their lives on vacation, and why not? Thank you Jerry & Linda for always the PMA (Positive Mental Attitude), fun and informative post. We love Gizmo. Cheers 🍻✌️
You are always so gracious. Thank you for your positive outlook and support!
Thanks for the video.
I am not surprised that the Villages is a warm, friendly, and welcoming community.
It looks like the place where happy people retire.
Thank you for taking the time to delve into the racial diversity inquiry of The Villages.
THANKS
Hi Jerry and Linda, I did the same thing when we had recycling. All cans, bottles and jars got washed before I put them out. Living here in The Villages is an absolute dream come true! I'll be here 5 years this August and have had absolutely no problems with diversity at all. My neighbors are fantastic and oh so very helpful! We're all just trying to live our remaining years in love and happiness that's all. We actually live in a resort, what's not to love? LOL
What a great outlook! Thank you Theresa!
I do go work out a couple of times per week for cardiac health so this would be something I am very interested in. I do it for an hour each visit as I go to the cardiac center at our local hospital. I chose that rather than a health club because, believe it or not, it’s far less expensive. I did go through their rehab program first. You can’t just walk in off the street and join. I’m not disciplined when it comes to exercise so this guarantees I do it at least once per week, but sometimes three times. We have to wash out washable recycling. We can’t put dirty receptacles in the recycling. It contaminates everything. I hated it at first, but now it’s just routine. When people ask me how I feel about retirement I respond with “every day is Saturday”. I’ve said it for years and now I’ve begun to hear it elsewhere.
I look forward to these! Had to laugh because I also clean my recyclables! We do have receptacles for trash and a separate can for recycling. I have noticed that bees and flies swarm around certain cans. Therefore I try and keep my garbage odorless when possible.
But it can cause domestic friction in certain circumstances.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
My story is too long (who’s isn’t at our age?) to tell here. Suffice to say I am looking to RETIRE-retire in the next 12 months, and will be brining my 70+ Mom along. Very “Dorothy and Sophia” for the 2020’s. These videos have been a fantastic in sight to what we can expect and I cant tell you what a comfort/relief it has been to see and hear the stories of both good aspects and some of the struggles folks face. We’ll be watching and researching for a few more months, and we’ll keep our eye’s open when we come for a lifestyle visit!.
Glad you didn’t have long lasting side effects. Love how you bring on neighbors to give their takes! -S
Linda, we have "friction" too about recycling. I am with my girl Linda. It is mandatory in Delaware AND we have had notes left when SOMEONE named Barry, breaks the rules. One more time and he will have attend recycling school! Lol.
Always, and I mean Always, something in your videos that bring a big smile to my face. Love the genuine moment when your neighbors rolled by... Linda's laugh is contagious!
You two crack me up! Can’t wait to get to meet you in person! Less than 6 weeks until we move in!
See you when you get here!
Another great show!
The Villages are fortunate to have people like you and Jerry living there!
Thanks, Mike! So Nice!🤣
Hi Jerry & Linda , Jerry I got to tell you I rinse out my recycled materials as well. Linda , you go girl. Thanks for sharing. Have fun today.
What a cool picture of you guys in high school it reminds me of everything nice in the seventies 🎶
Thanks, Kevin!
J&L, Love the perspective from the front porch. Plantation shutters are beautiful and should be for what they cost. Enjoy that beautiful weather and keep living the dream.
Great info, as always! We can’t wait to get there! We close on our house here today. Tomorrow is our anniversary. June can’t come soon enough to close on our Villages home!
My second shot my back was a little sore ,legs and arms hurt felt heavy . I had a wired headache . Felt bad about 3 days . When I woke up none of the vacuuming was done nor the laundry & no dinner was on the table Jerry. I have a 21 day cruise in 2021 . I have a trip planned to the UK & Norway in 2021 great video
You guys just get more enjoyable with each video (as if that were possible). The drive-by shout out from your neighbors at the end was the best!!
Yes! That was funny. Thanks, Dorebea!
Love your videos! We are closing on our new home in Hawkins tomorrow. So excited to become villagers!
Congratulations!!🎉🎈🧨🎉🎈🧨🎉🎈🎉🧨🎈🎉🧨🎈🎈
Great info as always! Linda, our city recycles, and I also rinse out all the cans and glass jars that go in our designated bin. 😂
Thanks Linda and Jerry love mailbag Monday because other people may think of questions that I might not.
Great MBM. I really like how you have villagers help answer questions. Nice touch.
I must tell you here in Ft.Pierce where I live we are not allowed to have garbage cans either. We put our garbage out on garbage day in plastic . I love it. No stinky trash cans setting around for days. How odd of the lady stopping while you were filming. To funny. God bless stay well.
Thanks, Nanny!
Fun to watch you guys.My son and I took a trip to London be for covid.Loved it plus we took the chonnel to France and went to Normandy and Omaha beach. Also to my late Dad's old bomber base where he took off on 35 missions which is now a sail plane active airport.Wisj he would have lived long enough to maybe retire in the villages.
You two are such a treat to watch, positive thinking!
Thanks, David!
I've been watching your channel for quite a while and I really enjoy your topics, events, and activities. I just want to thank you for touching on racial diversity in The Villages. The Villages look like a wonderful place to live but I never saw racial diversity in your past videos. Everyone in the background or spoken to directly in your past videos were always of one race. I know that this was NOT intentional but as a person of color, I looked for people of my race and I wondered if there would be a place for me or if I'd be accepted in The Villages. I'm really happy that you published this episode and (again) thank you for touching on this subject. I'm looking forward to signing up for a lifestyle tour and experiencing The Villages for myself. Keep up the great videos!
There have been some people of color in our earlier videos, but not many. We hope you love your lifestyle visit. See you when you get here! 😁😁
Love Watching you both & Gizmo🐾 We live in a 55+ community in California. And for me Resort Living, Vacation 24/7 and my Husband when he retires someday (he is 69) he'll feel that way too. Enjoy your day and Thanks for Talking with your Neighbors, that's fun!
Another great mailbag! 📫📨 I appreciate that when you don’t know the answer to a question, you find someone who does. Loved the Senior photos of you and Linda! ❤️💙 I have a senior graduating from high school in just a few short weeks. (May have to share the JOY and mail my favorite TH-camrs one of his announcements 😉) TFS. Have a great week!! Best! ☀️🌴☀️
Congrats to your son, and to you, too! Raising great kids takes teamwork! Thank you, Natalie. 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅
Great information!!! Yes, we need a Linda & Jerry travel video!
This is a great video. Thank you for addressing diversity in the villages. Well done! I hope you could do more videos on this topic. Especially other diversity issues.
You were and still are a cute, adorable couple. I love and look forward to seeing your vlogs
Thanks, Shirley!
I like Linda’s hat!

Hi Jerry and Linda. I really enjoy you mailbag mondays. Great video today.
Thank you, Nancy!
Linda, so sorry you had the leg cramps after 2nd shot. They are not fun! From Pinellas County
Great video Jerry & Linda. Awesome tip on getting an E-pass before we visit. We are flying 3rd week in May. Hope to see you there!!
Your a lucky man Jerry to have such a wonderful and beautiful wife of so many years. And is obviously many years younger than you. All the best and love your channel. Jim from Georgia. PS My beautiful wife and I have been married going on 29 years.
Yes, I am lucky to have such a young and beautiful wife!
Hi Jerry & Linda
We visit The Villages in the summer, October or November this year and my ? is why stay home and TV binge with all of the indoor activities and pools available at the rec center?
We watch your video every week?
Thanks
You may find like we did, that so many activities can be too much… as you age and need some downtime.
Is that a Cardinals Hat? Go Cards! Moving from STL to the Villages soon. Cardinal Nation may be our first club.⚾️
We look forward to your videos and tune in as soon as we get the notification. Saw a Beatle in your opening page! Not sure that we are convinced with your toll road answer. When we've visited Florida (Hollywood, Anna Maria Island, Naples) we've been faced with this question. We normally just avoid toll roads, but our last visit included a trip from Anna Maria to Palm Harbor to visit my aunt. The only logical route was to cross the bridge over Tampa Bay and incur a toll. We presented this to the Rental Car Agent and he said we could have one day with a toll but no more and we would be charged only for one day. There was no option to pay our own toll and our EZ Pass doesn't work, you would have to have a Florida Sun Pass as Florida doesn't honor any other state transponders.
I guess, what I meant was that when you fly into Orlando and drive to The Villages for a lifestyle visit… you don't have to encounter any more tolls while here. You will get the toll when you drive back to the airport, but thats it.
We have done it, and in our experience there is a daily toll fee on the car rental. Maybe it's not that way for all companies but it has been for us on several occasions.
Thanks for your kind words.
@@JERRYANDLINDA Yes! you are right. We have also flown into Florida and have been faced with this large fee to cover the use of their tolls. We agree that it's outrageous and won't pay it. I think the only misunderstanding in the video was that we heard that you could use an EZ Pass, which you can't. . .only the Florida SUN Pass. Doesn't hurt to look ahead and plan your travels. Raining here in VA and 53 degrees!!! At least you're warmer there in Florida. Have a good week, look forward to the next video!
We do not have a Sun pass, we have an E pass. It works fine.
from google:
The Florida Turnpike has administrativly joined the E-ZPass Group and is in the process of making changes to their systems in order to accept E-ZPass in their toll lanes. We expect this work to be completed in the 1st Quarter of 2021. At that time E-ZPass will be accepted by all Florida Toll Agencies.
We wash out sauce bottles and rinse out cans before recycling too, it doesn’t feel right otherwise. UK 🇬🇧 & Ireland 🇮🇪 would welcome you! Enjoyable content thank you and that was the best way to answer a question on diversity. Great job 👏, however the ⚾️ cap 🧢 we will need to discuss! 😂😂 Have a great week all!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’ snowing here in WV today. No sweat here! We love each video but we love y’all the most!!! See ya when we get there!❤️
Awww Nancy, thank you!!!
Love the Beatles on your page ❤.
Thank you for all of your answers....have a great and fun day.
You're welcome!
Thank you both for the information and all the laughs!
I think you two are just so sweet. Are people that don't live in the Villages aloud to eat at the restaurants?
Thank you, Huggin!
I rented a car from Alamo at MCO (Orlando Intl. Airport). If you drive through a Sunpass lane at the toll plazas, they will bill you for the toll. No signing up. No transponder. No penalty. Easy-peasy. Not sure if the other rental companies are doing the same.
I will have to check Alamo's rates. I will be in The Villages for 2 weeks in July. I almost fainted when I saw the rental car rates from MCO for 14 days.
You may want to try flying into Tampa. The drive from there is only about 15 minutes longer. You don't have to fight the Disney traffic, and the Disney rates.
Great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are in the Villages doing a lifestyle visit because of you guys. Hi, I'm Ron and Kris. We purchased a lot in Citrus Grove. We were disappointed because we didn't see you when we got here.
Well Ron, you know we never said you would see us… we said we will see you when you get here. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
We will be back in 3 months for the design of our new home. My wife and I love your very informative videos.
I need to ask you to send your meat loaf recipe. I saw the message, but by the time I got home it disappeared from my notifications. Sorry, but thank you.
Great mailbag, lots go good stuff! Awesome job guys!
Thanks, Adam!
You all are just lovely:) Have a great week.
Thanks, Colleen!
Some want retirement to be "home sweet home" and not "always on vacation". Are The Villages a good place for these retirees? I love Disney Land ... it's a nice place to visit ... but I never want to live there. Thanks for the great videos!
You are both so well-spoken and intelligent. It is encouraging to me to know that you are both former teachers. I am curious to know what you each taught. I love your videos.
Thank you Doug. Linda taught kindergarten, and 1st grade. Jerry taught social studies. Mostly geography and US history.
It was a really good show today! I like you are incorporating some Interviews in you segments! Very funny today!
Your hat is adorable Linda!!
Linda you are a gem.......
Love your hat Jerry!⚾️
Go Cards!
Love your videos and your hat Jerry!
Another great video! Thanks!
Linda, try theraworx for leg cramps! Great works pain gone instantly!
Love love love you two❤️
One is better off buying a Sunpass for tolls due to a lot of areas no longer have pay cash booths and it’s a pain later to have to pay after they take a pic of your license plate and mail you the bill. But the choice is yours.
Alamo lets you drive through Sunpass lanes without a transponder. They bill you without penalty.
@@jayrnj $3.95 per usage day, not to exceed $19.75 per rental period. There is no TollPass Convenience Charge on rental days that you don't use a toll road.
Thank ya'll for another great video!!!
Glad you liked it, DIB!
A fun episode. I really enjoy your videos.
We appreciate that, Ruth!
Thank you for another great show!!
Nice photo of John Lennon up in the top right corner😊
Bingo!
And George Harrison on the left side!
Love y’all’s videos!
Another great video! Congrats on passing 31k subscriptions.
Love the hat, Jerry.
Question - Does anyone have an above ground pool in their backyard? Is it a no-no? Seems that would be a lot cheaper than putting in a regular inground pool. And I also wash my recycling for 2 reasons, 1- it sits on my back porch for a month and 2-no sense in feeding the rats at the recycling place. I have seen the number of bees & wasps when I go to dump my aluminum - if everyone rinsed they wouldn't be there.
We've never seen an above ground pool.
Trash day here at home starts at 5:30 AM. It starts with screaming diesel engines, squealing brakes, and the banging of the hydrologic arm. Good grief! No sleeping in on Wednesdays here, just my two cents.
Where is here?
@@JERRYANDLINDA North central Massachusetts, we are one town from the N. H. border. We winter in Flagler Beach FL. and visit friends in the villages. ☀️⛱️🍷🇺🇸 PS, love your content.
Thanks! 😁😁
Great questions and answers today. I enjoyed hearing the responses from the Village residents to the questions about diversity and do you feel like you are on vacation? Is it Friday yet?
🤣🤣It's coming, Laura!🤣🤣
Sign me up for the trip to Ireland you host!
Good morning friends and thx for the shout-out. 😉 You guys are still as adorable as you were in high school, marital discord over washing trash notwithstanding! 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Another great video!! Are you from St Louis or
are you just a cardinals fan? I’m from Kansas City, KS and can’t wait to retire and begin a new life in The Villages! 2025 can’t come soon enough!!
Neither! The hat was a gift... although, I remember Steve Carlton, Orlando Cepeda, Dallas Maxvil, Bob Gibson, Curt Flood, Lou Brock, and all of those other great Cards!
@@JERRYANDLINDA thanks for your reply 😀
I have a question about law enforcement in The Villages. I am a police officer and was wondering who patrols and responds to calls for service and emergencies?
The counties that The Villages is part of have their own law enforcement departments. The Sumter County sheriff's department would respond in our neighborhood. We also have a very large neighborhood watch patrol that cruises 24/7 through the neighborhoods.
@@JERRYANDLINDA thanks so much! I was wondering how that was handled since the area is spread out over 3 different counties. I saw the neighborhood patrol go down the street when I was with my dad looking at a house in the village of Hawkins last month. Have a wonderful day and I’ll see you guys on the next video!
question for mailbag monday. When we do a lifestyle visit, should we still rent a car?
Matter of opinion. Wed ssy no. Use that golf cart. Explore, explore, explore! Your agents can drive you around if you wish.
We agree! Fly into MCO, van ride to TV, get to your temp lodging (usually a Villa) then use the provided golf car(t) for all things. Took three visits but I finally got my picture taken going through the drive the drive thru of McD’s. 😊 just check the weather forecast to see if you’ll need to bring heavier clothes ( for golf car(t) riding at night) - could be a little chilly depending on time of year.
Another enjoyable “Mailbag Monday” episode. Thank you so much for all your valuable information about TV.
IMO, the only limiting factor to moving into the Village is financial and leaving family, not skin color or gender identification. Were you able to save money and live a frugal life style and plan for retirement? If yes, then you could move to a wide variety of cities across the USA. Planning is key.
I tell my nieces who are soon to be 30 and 27, I hope you are enrolled in your employer's 401K. One minute you are in your 20's, the next minute your are 60+ and retirement is a few years down the road. Get that employer match if your employer offers it.
