I must say your videos are excellent, and your dedication to your SS is quite admirable. I binge-watched the repair progress of your SS after that unfortunate accident you had on the way back from Poland. You are well spoken and a joy to listen to. The very same can be said for HubNut too. I didn't expect to find both of these channels, but I'm glad I did. Please keep the great content up! Great video! I used to have Smart Forfour Mk1 which was a Mitsubishi Colt underneath the Smart bodywork. It had a 3 cylinder engine that sounded great, very similar to the sound of the Matiz. Had the car for 9 years, loved it so much. My current car has 4 cylinders ans doesn't sound the same sadly.

HubNut follower here. Excellent review on the Matiz. Back in 2002 my local Fiat stealership were offering pre reg'd base model Seicentos for £4995, I was sorely tempted but bought a different used car instead.
You got another subscriber, Hub Nut brought me hear. Great reviews and you have so much respect for these little cars. If you ever decide to buy a Daewoo they looked great in the burnt orange they offered.
New to your channel, and currently watching older episodes, great fun so far, and nice to see someone passionate about their own car. Nice review on Ian's car, subscribed.
Well, Ian brought me here and after watching the video thats me subscribed. I'm around Ian's age and its great seeing the younger generation into this stuff, means it'll survive longer. Both cars are class and if I had to choose I'd go for the Matiz and thats purely down to the fact it has back doors, if I rarely used the back seat then I'd have either one.
@@MillerCorner Thank you, I did enjoy the video, liked your passion and that you don't take yourself too seriously (the Ian mini me 😂) checked your channel contect and that was me in.
Hi. Just come from hubnut. Really enjoyed your review. Both cars are great and wouldn't mind owning either one. And yes three cylinder cars do sound awesome.
This car is a brilliant machine has a good engine , have owned iit since 1998, its 23 years old still running good, but i upgraded to alloys and its now amazing, i haven't used it much tho because i wasnt driving around for passing time, just took it out for important events and for work.
The 3 cylinder growl is addictive and the Matiz ain't that slow. If you give it time it will cruise easily at motorway speeds and max out at about 90-95. It doesn't sound as if it's straining at that speed either. Not bad for 800ccs and 3 cylinders..I'm on my second Matiz. I've now got the 1000, but it hasn't got the same soundtrack as my old 800..
In Brazil they sold the chinese copy of that car, called the Chery QQ, but thankfully it's pretty much exact the same as the original Matiz except the exterior design is a bit different, all of the positives you mentioned in this video are present in the QQ, it's a great value for money car because it's full of features from the factory and it's cheap, my uncle had one of these in metallic blue and he only said great things, it's in the list my potencial first car to buy.
Always loved three cylinder engines, sound much nicer than boring old four pots. The first gen C1/107/Aygo must be starting to fall into the "cheap nugget" category by now, and they have great little engines.
I think your fiat has better handling and is more sporty but the matiz is the other half of the coin with reliability and practicality. I'm impressed, I thought the matiz would have been a joke. Well done for your honest review.
First time I drove a Toyota Aygo a few years ago this is exactly what I thought. I used to own a 1982 Audi Coupe GT with a 1.9l 5 cylinder engine - that also sounded amazing when throttled up., a reall offbeat rasp and also a nice burble at idle too. Not exactly the full rally Audi Quattro, but it put a smile on your face for sure.
I always wanted the Fiat Seicento, but you can't even find them in South Africa on the second hand market. The Daewoo Matiz. Well got one after looking for an Opel Kadett/ Vauxhall Astra and couldn't find a 1.4i. All the cars had problems I couldn't live with, and there in 2005 a burnt orange 0.8iS 2000 model was standing. Originally when it came out. Thought that would be cool to own, bought it before discussing with my family. As my brother always had the last say, according to them. Pulled up, and served me well. Best full tank range I got was 900km (562miles) before filling up, or the fuel light came on (with the light I normally got another 100km (62miles)). I moved house in one, got the futon double bed in (folded obviously), with an automatic top loader that was big for then in with half my wardrobe. Two trips and the move was done, for the items that could fit in. With the seats down, it gobbles up everything. Reason I didn't go for the Seicento was already in trouble for not buying a Toyota, and didn't need the hassle of being shouted at for a 3 door car. Drove long distances in the Matiz. With one way road trips being between 600 and 1000miles. My normal weekend trips of 200miles, were quick easy, no stress. Did everything my friends did with cars twice the size. Who said, bigger is better

small cars + small engines = fun - you can thrash them and drive on its limit with no danger to life, limb or your wristwatch - license savers.
