Hank sure knows some interesting, and funny good old boys for sure. Just good old hard working country folk. And the machines they work on makes it all the better.
When I first moved to south Florida. I was working on a Yacht and a coworker of mine of Cubin descent referred to an adjustable wrench as a "Cubin Socket set"
It’s always satisfying to see an old machine rescued and hopefully put back to use. Glad this one was found early enough before serious weathering and determination can occur.
41:00 Suggestion for you. Get a small back-pack weed sprayer and spray a mixture of Kerosene & Diesel oil onto the tracks and leave for a few days, then move the machine 1/4 turn on both tracks and redo. Same in a few days for the "1/2" track position and then again for the 3/4 position Finally get back to the all around (start position) and give the entire lower areas of the tracks (runner wheels / open bearings, tracks etc. then leave the machine sitting a week. Then - move the machine about 1/2 mile in either direction in a fig 8 and a few circles both ways. After that, those tracks should have un-kinked themselves. If not - tighten the tracks with the adjusting rods, and redo everything again, this time, adding some hydraulic oil & some very light rust-removing oil - to the sprayer too Soon the tracks will "free" themselves up to unkink them all. Then do a final track slack adjustment and you'll be good to go. NEXT - lube the entire machine & replace any hoses and rubber pipes that appear perished.
That's too nice of a machine to be left behind. I'm glad to see it back up and running! She's still got thousands of hours still left in her. 😎👍 Awesome job!!
Lord I'm getting old. When Hank said an old Komatsu Trackhoe I was thinking earlier than that . I was thinking a PC200-3 , PC300-3 or PC400-3 from the mid to late 80's with blue & yellow paint . I wasn't thinking about a PC250-6 with yellow paint . 🤣. Great Video Hank.great to see Drew again. Mack
another easy start video..no fuss no muss...but dont get used to the easy ones hank, because you and wiley are bound to run across some hard ones..lol..great job to all.
Great rescue! Looks and sounds like she'll be a great machine with a little bit of fixing. Lots of life left in her. Wish I could get my oldest son into this kind of thing. Thanks for bringing us along. J.W.
This was a good one. The excavator started up like it was new. I am guessing here, but to me it seems your friend Drew is a Marine. If not, that’s OK. He’s still a warrior by serving in another branch. Please pass on the message to him “Thanks for his service”!!!! Semper Fi to a fellow warrior!
I used to run one of them for a Farmer digging Ponds an Drainage Ditch's in Missouri and was paid a whopping $8.00 per Hour and drove 25 miles each way to work and had to be on the Job working at 07:99 A. M. and supported my wife and two daughter's in the 1970's People today are so wistful and way out of touch with reality. The Farmer I worked for was Bob Schaeffer, AKA Moose Evan's the Wrestler and Grandson of the Founder and owner of the Brookland Mass. Schaeffer Brewing Company. Old Moose was one of my best friends,
When I used to repair heavy equipment that sat for a few years with frozen track links or adjusters, I would heat the outside of the link red-hot and then hit it immediately with water, you could hear the rust releasing by the way the metal expanded/cooled. Just heat the outside of the link, not the pin.
I have spent many hours at the Chatt. Tn. Komatsu plant installing and repairing their rolling steel doors. Believe me they can do some damage coming in and going out those doors when they are not careful. The tallest door I ever put in was at the Komatsu plant 32 foot high. Probably where this machine was made. Chatt. Tn.
Never cease to amaze me Hank for someone who isn't a mechanic you have the touch I have been talking to Johnny have y'all went back to the Superliner I am looking forward to seeing some more of it I got to get 2 front tires and 4 batteries I just want to see the rearend part Johnny told me it hadn't been sitting there but about 8 yrs hope the rear tires are not like the front
I think we’ll go back next week. But even if I do the video won’t be out until October. Email me and let’s chat about some options. Hank at hamiltonville farm dot com
"hold yer mouth just right" 😵🤣🤣🤣 I lived in niceville during high school and that's the most low-uh al-bama thing I've heard in two decades. 💚 "I can crank anything" hoooo now that's some north Georgia banjo style right there. Normally something I'd say 😳😅
What makes me mad is the people that will let equipment sit until trees grow up threw them and will never do anything with it but will price it like it was a new one.
Great video and great machine. Spent a lotta hours workin on and runnin a Komatsu PC 3000 built after the Leibehr company bought em out. They do build a nice machine. Hank, when are you gonna start mismatching your boots? Gotta keep up with the youngsters, lol. Have a good one. 👍
Nice work guys getting that thing going and out of a tight spot in the woods and it seems to be working very well to .God Bless and be safe out there Thanks...
It looks like Hank needs one of these now so he can go and play in the sand box too. Imagine all the future flower beds you could dig up for your wife's flower farm if you had one. :)
Don't worry, skeeters would've dumped Matt's body in the intracoastal waterway after thirty forty-five minutes. I bet he'd say he'll keep the devil he knows.
Those tracks sound just like me before morning PT. I swear, when you mentioned his boots I was expecting to hear him say the boot on his left foot felt better than the matching boot, 😆.
Some of the track pins need to be attended to so that they pivot easier than they do. You could knock them out and replace them or just clean them up and re-install. Good job getting that going. It lives to work again.
Excellent video Hank :) lucky find and that backhoe in great shape for sure 👍 and need some Tinder Love Care on Tracks gear box like oil also grease plus cab swivel to! But otherwise it 75 % good condition to and nice working order!
Well the motor sounds good running and everything seemed to be working, but not the greatest . It needs some TLC and some routine maintenance and getting the tracks loosened up and adjusted . So this one got rescued to live on . Drew seemed like a great guy and a talker and joker . I will see you all later, so take care and stay safe out there . 🤗👍💖💫
This is so cool to watch .I've always loved watching heavy equipment operating. I would be in awe if someone could teach me how to properly operate the equipment
Thanks for another great video Hank and friends. It was interesting and enjoyable. Wow. Well, another success story. You got it running in short order. Putting it in short order quick. And no real messed. Wiley would have been disappointed. Batteries going in short order also. Easy fix on this one. Believe your sidekick was Drew I believe. He is a good one for sure. Good old friend for sure Hank. Knew what he was talking about. That machine is not too bad by golly. Make someone a good machine. About it I guess. Excellent pick Hank. You take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything Hank and Drew. And friends. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
I really like your channel! We share the same interest of reviving old iron. I started watching a year or so ago when you were working on the Super 55 Oliver because that’s what I feature on my channel. Keep up the good work!
Never bring a machine that has been sitting for years to a place that will be difficult to retrieve if something breaks. Keep it on level ground until you are sure it can move easily on its own. Just a suggestion.
This machine really can work! From what I know, now all new Komatsu excavators are powered by Cummins engines instead of Komatsu engines. I suggest giving this machine a new coat of paint on its body once you drive it to the garage as it still looks quite new.
Hank that would make a big difference on your property if it was yours can you imagine everything you could get done with that. I can picture you putting in your own private pond clearing areas and digging out stumps.
Thank you so much for walk through on Start up. The old girl can dig that's for sure. On your Food Delivery company you use. We do that also with ( Blue Apron) Realize that you use a different company, but boy those Home Delivery Full meals are great for trying different types of Dinner's. They all do great work at Different food preparation.
Good job guys. It kinda surprised me though seeing you drive it that long distance over the sprocket wheels, especially after it had been standing for so long and the tracks might be stiff. I was taught to always - if at all possible - drive over the idlers, because otherwise you will pull the track on the top idlers and the track will buckle under the bottom idlers. But I am only being a smart ass and nitpicking :-) Nice to see an old girl like that in action (I have about 3000 hours on a PC240 in Iceland). Keep up the good work guys.
Yep very smart man that's how I did it years ago I started on the dry side dug it all out and let the water flow into that side and then cleaned out the other side great idea
Ask Wally if you will I’ve got a 1974 Massey Ferguson 135 Diesel Perkins has fuel at filter, injector pump, and injectors but still will not crank. Do y’all have any recommendations

Great to see this one rescued before major things deteriorated. Looks like a fine machine.

Good to see you again Hank hope you an family have a great weekend buddy good luck with the machines
Impossible to have more respect for anyone than I have for you guys !!
Thank you for the kind words.

Those tracks are n ruff shape change a few rollers and grease the heck out of everything motor sounds strong Hank you guys have a blessed day
Great video Hank. now get a garden sprayer, mix up a batch of engine oil oil and diesel and spray that undercarriage down real good!
This was a good one. The excavator started up like it was new.

@26:25 ha thereon some serious creaking and groaning on the tracks. Perhaps need some grease and diesel poured on. Looks a good workhorse.

she runs real fine but those tracks are not happy....good advice good eye

Good to see another fine video God bless tell drew welcome home brother another outstanding video and save
Between his mix matched boots and hanks grandpappy socks anything is possible.
I might rock those on bingo night
Dayum! I watch plenty of these revival videos and this machine is in amazing shape!
It comes with a free back up, a shovel !!! 😂😂😂😂🤣😂 Great video, enjoyed it all the way through.
Thank you kindly

That guy will out talk any two legged man I ever saw !
Iam also a amputee that has not yet received my prosthesis, but soon, seeing you out there working made my day thanks Drew
👍👍
Those tracks should loosen up after the first 4 miles or so. Sometimes running through water helps clean the rust out of the joints.
It kills me how people will just leave these machines set for long periods of time, it hurts these machines more to leave them set than to use them !
everyone gets old.
Rich life
What makes me mad is the people that will let equipment sit until trees grow up threw them and will never do anything with it but will price it like it was a new one.
expensive to move if you don't own your own lowboy
Fake, no rust in tracks and bucket

Way to go Hank! You do know how to operate! Slow and easy. Wiley will be jealous

It looks like Hank needs one of these now so he can go and play in the sand box too. Imagine all the future flower beds you could dig up for your wife's flower farm if you had one. :)
Your going to make Diesel Creek jealous cause it didn't take long to get that excavator running and with no parts.

Good job 👏 I'm sure Willey would be proud....lol
That was a hoot! Thanks for the laughs and entertainment. Great video Hank!
Looks like he got Crazy with the Food Coloring for the Cupcakes 🧁
Nice machine! that is a pure Komatsu engine in that. You guys need to grease the track tensioners before you loose a track.
Your nephew is a hoot have him on more often I’m glad he got a good machine.
Your nephew has a good and easy attitude while working that leg into the whole storyline.
the prosthetic leg with the cowboy boots is pretty cool
take some lessons on how to run a fine machine like that for letsdig18.. tracks need tightening up.
I love these guys they show it fast and quickly
Some of the track pins need to be attended to so that they pivot easier than they do. You could knock them out and replace them or just clean them up and re-install. Good job getting that going. It lives to work again.
