Meanwhile tb3 is a combat drone and the Mq25 is a carrier-based areal refueling drone. So no, it's not more effective. They don't have the same function.
These are just 1 of the aircraft you can see in the St Louis area! It’s a great place for spotting. The F-15, F-18, MQ-25 Stingray and T-7A Red Hawk are some of the more notable aircraft built here. Beyond that there is an airbase that is home to the 375th AMW where KC-135’s and C-40’s are stationed. The best part though is the unique aircraft you see in the area because of the mission performed by the 375th. I have spotted one of only 4 E-4B “doomsday planes”, P-8 Poseidons, C-17’s, C-5’s, and on rare occasions, B-2’s are spotted flying to/from Whiteman AFB a little west of STL! Luuuuucky!

No, that's talking about the hose and drogue pod. It's essentially a 600 gallon drop-tank fitted to the Super Hornets - and just about everything else - that has half of its fuel capacity taken up by the hose and drogue gear, and the pumps to transfer the fuel. You still have room for 300 gallons of extra fuel. The MQ-25 carries ~16,000lbs of fuel for transfer, and has a 550mi+ combat radius while doing it. So, they just mentioned the extra 300lbs of fuel you get while carrying the refueling pod on top of your 16,000lbs of fuel.

Old news. The MQ-25 was last at sea aboard the Bush in December of 2021 for deck handling tests. The type has yet to launch or trap from a CVN. The first operational boat det won't occur until 2026 aboard Theodore Roosevelt.
The pod used for this tanker drone is the same one carried right now by Super Hornets, who are currently doing the tanker mission. The S-3A used to do this mission before they were retired in 2009. S-3s took over from the dedicated tanker version of the A-6, called the KA-6D, which was retired shortly after Gulf War 1. What the Navy is trying to do here is stop wasting fighter flight time doing the taker mission, and bring back a dedicated airframe to do it instead.
What surprised me was the amount of JP5 the UAV carried, only 2K lbs. I'm guessing that the final iteration might carry 4 - 2K tanks and a buddy store (refueling pod) on the centerline or 3 - 2K tanks and a buddy store on the wing. That way it can just loiter around waiting for an MAR request and the pilots, based on the carrier, can be switched out at intervals.
right now, the navy uses fighters and attack planes, as well as pilots as tankers, these missions wastes airframe life as being used as a tanker put extra stress on planes with all the fuel,and uses pilots that are otherwise could be used elsewhere.
We have advanced technologies and systems that can do much better job than human in some cases. And this unmanned drone has no discretionary choices to make and therefor it's much cheaper/safer and reliable to have it controlled by autonomous or remote controls. It's much cheaper if you can spare all the weight and space needed to safeguard the lives of pilots (with all the backup systems, ejection, oxygen, firesafety etc).
