My fav story is from Bill Bryson. He arrived in the UK from France by ferry at 3 am. It was freezing cold and nothing was open, so he found a bus shelter and put on all the clothes he could including a couple of pairs of underwear which he put on his head to keep his ears warm. The chap pointed off down the road, and they parted. Bryson completely forgot that he had two pairs of underwear on is head. The English dog walker never said a thing. An American would surely have asked, 'Why have you got that underwear on your head?' It's OK in Britain to be as eccentric as you like.

Congratulations on your 100 thousand subscribers Amanda! No one, anywhere makes proper tea like the British, except Australians. (But, of course, we are often descended from British people) And, about complaining, the French have that down to a fine art too! 😂
Hi Amanda, congrats on the 100k subs. His figures on police shootings are a little off, a US news programme did a comparison of stats in 2016 or 17, they collated figures for the previous month in the US, and found 117 police shootings. They then compared it to the UK from 1900 to 2000, and found 52 shootings in a hundred years.
@AMANDARAEUK tbh I personally would listen to you reading the dictionary. But seriously though 100k subs is no easy task, credit to you, your creativity and your work ethic. We'll done
I’ve lived and worked in America but I’m so glad I didn’t take up the option to move my family over. I’m so glad among other things that our school children don’t have to wear bulletproof backpacks. Love your posts Amanda 😊🇬🇧 Oh and I love France and the rural French as well as Europe.❤ Oh yes, tea in America is disgusting.
My wife is American and has lived here for 13 years. She wishes she had been born in The U.K. She no longer likes The USA and the gun crime (research it, its off the scale) makes her sick.
So understatement and the NHS a year ago I managed to have a compound fracture of my ankle, my tibia was sticking out and as a bonus I also broke my fibula. My right foot was a dangling appendage doing noting... thank goodness for the NHS... when I was on the call with the emergency centre, it was cold and raining and I started drifting off, they stayed with me until the ambulance arrived. They put heating blankets on me which was more than welcome... because the ambulance crew had an "advanced paramedic" I had a canular inserted and was given a shot of morphine which certainly reduced the pain and looking at the bones sticking out. At this point the timing gets fuzzy but the air ambulance team turn up and give me ketamine.. after that nothing.... I get transported to a major trauma hospital, get a temporary cast then at 9am wake up enough to sign a form for the surgery... then at 5pm I am wheeled up on the MTU ward... three days later I am transported home, to go back a couple of times to go from temporary cast, to full cast and then air boot. I got six sessions of physio building up to me running. I do not know the number of x-rays, CT scans but I know there were a plastic and orthopaedic surgeons working on my leg for five ours. Total cost £0.00... the NHS may have it's faults but in emergencies it is amazing and doesn't cause people to bankruptcy.
I went to sr Red Lobster in Boston and the toilets were through an arch with no doors. The stalls had cowboy style saloon doors. I really had to go. I was sitting there looking out over the restaurant (over the doors and through the arch) and everyone in the restaurant could see me from the chest up. Weirdest experience of my life. The USA is strange.
The NHS is like your guardian angel 👼 it’s always there to look after you. It’s far from perfect particularly at the moment, but it beats going bankrupt to afford care.
Hello Amanda. Great video as usual. The News, I worked on Staten Island (NY) for 6 months in 1994. While I was there, we had heavy snow, then one day a pipeline in NJ blew up. When I rang home my friend asked if I was ok as these were on the news. My US colleagues couldn’t believe that these were in the UK news. They had the attitude of if it didn’t happen here I don’t want to know. I believe its because as a Brit in my genes I’m a colonizer. I need to know what is happening everywhere.
For a lot of years we had a similar system of price tickets and having to add sales tax and then when VAT turned up that wasn't always displayed combined and there was £X+VAT displayed especially in DIY stores, motor trade stores and many others. Even now some trade stores still display price + VAT. It was about the late 1980s before it was common.
“I’m not trying to start a war…” You did in 1775! Congratulations on the 100K+ subscribers, Miss Amanda, and hope you and your family had a great Christmas and brilliant New Year.
Amanda many many congratulations on the 100k. Very well deserved. You are genuine, honest and we are the lucky ones for you to share your life with us. I think you can consider yourself an honourary Brit.
Loved number 13, understatement and the reference to Churchill in the War. There was a well known phrase used then, still applies - keep calm and carry on. Regarding carrying on, there is a very famous photo taken after a bombing raid in London in 1941. In the photo there is a shot of a milkman climbing over the tons of rubble to deliver his milk. Superb. Before someone suggests it was set up - so what, it is the thought behind the shot that counts in this one. Congrats on 100k subscribers Amanda, I’m one of them. Happy New Year.
Happy new year Amanda hope you and your family have most amazing 2024 congratulations on 100k + subscribers you definitely deserve the award ❤i always enjoy your very interesting video's with plenty of laughs and amazing reactions . Definitely tea made with a kettle definitely looking forward to another year of your amazing video's ❤❤

Hi Amanda! Long time no see! Anyway, my thoughts on this are as follows:- 1. Manual gears rule over automatics. Manual is quicker and more economical. 2. It's the 4th of January today! 04/01/2024. Enough said! 3. We speak real English.....well where I come from anyway! Bristol rules OK! The accent is Gert Lush! 4. We can avoid the adverts by putting on the kettle to make a cup of tea. Across the pond, well, you need to start cooking supper from scratch!!!! 5. Actually, a British guy invented the internet! 6. Oh, and we have Morris Dancers! Cheers, girl!!!!
I would go with 'Villain' that he lists! so many times the bad guy/girl is a brit! lol....that being said we sneakily get in there as the superhero (with American accent granted) Superman, Spiderman, Dr Strange, etc :) Congrats on the 100k
Re: your question - the NHS. I read something somewhere (resort to Google!) which said that we in the UK pay less in our taxes for NHS coverage than Americans pay for their healthcare through insurance. And there's no argument, if an ambulance is needed, an ambulance comes. You are seen ASAP in A&E, and in my experience appointments are always pretty reasonable. But when there is a crisis, it's just wonderful not to have that extra worry about money. And I am perfectly OK for American tourists to use it!
Tea made in a microwave? I've never heard of that before.. It might work if you can guarantee the water is boiling.. With Tea the drink has to be made with the water boiling whereas with coffee it has to be water that's been boiled but not boiling when poured

We do sarcasm much better than ... I was going to say 'you' but you're one of us now ... they do. Our town centres are better too. They are unique and full of character instead of being exactly the same and full of billboards along a 6 lane highway. The US tv adverts are weird, they often just appear without warning, so for a few seconds you're puzzled as to why someone is suddenly driving a sports car through flames. New Subber here Amanda from Essex UK. I said the other day I have had it with all these “Reaction” videos that cram YT. HOWEVER, I found yours (and Brad and Lucy lol) very viewable. You have a face and voice for TV, a natural. Keep up the good work. From a fellow Vlogger. ❤
Only an American could think about making tea in a microwave 🙁
And the milk goes in last!
Spot On.
Truck drivers in the UK certainly use their lorry microwave to heat water for tea 👍
Seems to work fine for them.

The British invented the internet some boffins in Cambridge or Oxford , happy “English” new year Amanda. Congrats on the award !!!
No, we invented the world wide web - the actual internet was used by the military and then by universities in the US in the 1960's!
I thought it was invented at CERN (Tim Berners-Lee, etc.)?
@@interestedbystander196 Nope! That's the World Wide Web! It's not the internet! They are two different things. The Internet is quite a lot older!

Welcome back, hope you had a good Xmas.
Congratulations to you. Keep up the great work, and happy new year to yourself and your family.
