      Hey Sean ! I have a movie request, I was wondering if you could do the movie “Keith” it’s on prime/freevee, it’s really good, it has a great plot twist that even I can’t explain.It’s something you have to watch, because it can’t be explained, it’s basically your stereotypical bad boy with the academically good girl, but it’s way different from all the movies I’ve watched.It’ll maybe will make you cry, so bring tissues just in case! No ones reacted to this movie so it would be nice if you could, you’d be the first reaction channel to react to it😭so please watch it🫶🏽

    It is unintentionally hilarious that you call this show "a mix of those things but with just girls" while showing a picture with James in it

    I think he severely underestimated the hatred for the English during the 90s.

      I don't know. The later seasons of Derry Golden Girls would be fun, but I'm not sure the middle period of Derry Girls in the City and Absolutely Derry would be as entertaining.

    The show is set in the 90s. Michelle is referencing Pulp Fiction when she first comes on screen and I believe the troubles were at the height of hostilities during this time as well.

    0:51 “But just girls”
    It is hilariously on brand for Derry Girls that you looked at the character on the right side of this photo, and said this. You’ll fit right in with everyone in Derry!

    This show is mid 90's, near the end of the war/conflict in Northern Ireland which took place from 1968 until 1998 when the Belfast Good Friday Agreement was signed. It was not the Irish army on the streets of Derry and elsewhere in NI, it was the British army. This show really did get me into learning about the history of Ireland as an island - from music, to the Irish language and culture. Fascinating stuff, really. Not something we learn much about in Canada in schools.

      I think he was referring to the IRA, which wasn’t organized by the state but was homegrown (at least the iteration of it that existed during the Troubles). But yes the actual British army was occupying Northern Ireland at this time

    The show is set in the 90's. References to Macaulay Culkin trying to get emancipated, Pulp Fiction reference, etc. I think the show starts in 1994/95.

    I love this show! It’s so funny and unhinged but also heartfelt and sincere. Even if you didn’t experience the 90s as a teen it perfectly captures what it’s like to grow up. As a 90s kid I could relate to so much even though I didn’t grow up in northern Ireland

    6:36 they’re definitely laughing at him 😂 being English would be a turn-off to Irish girls & while certainly someone would have a crush on him, they’d probably get shamed by their friends for it.
    I enjoy a lot of the Irish insults against the British in Derry Girls 😂 it’s cheeky but also reflective of a grim collective experience. The colonization & ethnic cleansing of the Irish by England is historical background that informs the common attitude towards Britain & its current (esp during ‘The Troubles’ when the show is set) occupation

    All three seasons are excellent and the season finales are especially good, so I hope you can get through all of them. Plus, the music in every episode is amazing and emphasizes what was popular in the 1990’s in Europe. There is a nice balance between the main characters and the adults, as well as a balance between ordinary teenage concerns and major historical events. Everyone grows and learns and changes over the span of the show. Since the dialogue is fast and there are a lot of accents, it can be helpful to have captions on. Enjoy!

    You should react to the sitcom Some Girls. It's from the same production company as Derry Girls just came a few years before. It's such a funny show and has the main character be a black girl.

    • @Dej24601
      @Dej24601 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      The bathroom situation isn’t mentioned again, but whenever there are scenes of the Head Sister talking to the student body, and other staff teachers are near her on the stage, some ARE men, so there must have been some type of accommodation made for male teachers, and priests when they visit, as well as parents or visitors, but it was funnier to show the girls being totally unaware of that, and the Sister not wanting to bother to explain to James in the first episode, how that all worked.
