He's also said the angry young man was a vet that he liked to hire as part of his road crew, but the guy had trouble communicating and kept making issues. Eventually Billy had to stop hiring him, and the guy took it hard.

Saw him open the dueling piano's tour with Elton John with this at Ohio Stadium in 1994! To this day still one of my favorite live shows of the several hundred I've seen in my life.

Worth finding a live version. When I saw him in Chicago he laid down on the bench and played the fast part over his head, upside-down. The man is a keyboard demon. And your analysis was eye-opening. I never thought about the AYM as someone with PTSD that came before he got angry. You've got some great thoughts up there! Keep 'em comin'!

While this is not one of my favorites due, I think to overly crowded verbage, Billy Joel has always been such a prolific musician and writer/lyricist. All the rest of the musicianship is brilliant as well of course. And I've always sensed a lot of Broadway influences in Joel's musical style.
