Thanks it was jammed because I pushed it closed. The mechanism is perfectly fine. The receiver is a factory’s added option and the hitch is a name brand hitch rated for 10,000 lbs. it’s the right size. The clamp actually works pretty well. In my application I pull a kayak trailer. I don’t intend to pull anything heavy and it’s for local use. I do appreciate you watching my stuff. Be well.
TRY a little WD-40 on the mechanisms On the hitch, sounds like the receiver size isn't right, get yourself a thin pieco of aluminum the same width and slide it in ON TOP of the receiver as you insert the hitch That is what you get when you buy a chinese hitch, it doesn't fit tight That clamp will not hold with a heavy boat or trailer on the hitch You can use a whole saw on your drill to make a hole in that plastic piece, just make sure you start the drill exactly on center of the square hole
