Hey Pink, do you have a particular way to pick teams for these videos? Is it just whatever you were feeling in the moment? Picking them randomly? Whichever has the most potential?
It is either one or multiple of the following factors. 1. The team is comically terrible. 2. The team is creative and utilizes unique pokemon at least somewhat well. 3. I can see the team's vision and goal (this is the most important. Most teams I see submitted don't have a clear vision and are just a bunch of pokemon slapped on a team with vague ideas of synergy. This makes it near impossible to improve while staying true to the original vision, because there is no original vision I can perceive. Even bad teams with clear goals are more likely to be chosen than better teams with no goal). 4. The team is very good.
For team 2, my guess is that 303 speed on Lando is so that they NEVER get outsped by Jolly Excadrill except boosted by scarf/spin/sand. I refuse to let that mole outspeed my Lando no matter how rare it is in OU. At least that's why I run it haha. Otherwise I would just run 301 speed for Tusk/Glim
I can't imagine why not, to be honest. Between Unaware, Torch Song, great bulk, and great typing in Fire/Ghost, it fills a lot of roles without compromising in any one way. That said, power creep might necessitate more specialists, but I appreciate Skeledirge's versatility
@@BubbyBoy Is fire/ghost a good type in this meta though? Gambit, Dragapult, Gholdengo, Tusk, Lando, Meow, Ogerpon, Roaring Moon, Garg, all put it in the dumpster with super effective coverage
@@danielsmith5032 it gives key resistances to fairy, steel and secondary resistances to poison, grass, and bug, while providing a complete immunity to normal and fighting. Not to mention its fantastic offensive coverage. You arent going to have any one Pokemon perfectly cover everything (even if Iron Valiant desperately wants to).
@@danielsmith5032 besides, you arent going to be throwing in Skeledirge early enough to worry about most of those threats you mentioned; itll be sent in mid-to-late match to hold off a sweeper with Unaware, or play cleanup as a sweeper via torch song. You're looking into it a bit too much-- I like jimothy a lot but this sort of thing is quite common on TH-cam, and I did not have him specifically in mind when I created this. Perhaps subconscious influence, but no direct reference was intended.
I wish I could give team submissions, but I'm better with just individual Pokémon who somehow are low ranks despite sweeping most things in ou (natdex for some) Like surf swift swim gorebyss (has one-shotted even water-resistant Pokémon and even then it has ice moves) on rain teams, scrafty (The number of times someone sacrificed their Pokémon to burn scrafty to try to save their team, only for scrafty to get rid of it the next turn, is insane. Not to mention rest being the most op healing move with almost no drawbacks other than an occasional one turn wait if you're unlucky. This also isn't even mentioning that with bulk up it can usually survive strong physical fairy attackers and is only weak to special moves, which makes it a physical version of blissey but 10x better) and the wonderful cramorant (the number of times that I've won because of gulp missile absolutely crippling most of their Pokémon is also insane) to name of few
Hey Pinkacross thank you for reviewing and fixing my team! I tried it out and i really liked the changes you made, But is it just me or the team really weak to gholdengo ? I originally had sp def heatran for gking for it but it still wasn’t working out, Is there anything i can do about that ? Anyways Thank you again and great videos as always :D
The team is (after changes) less weak to Gholdengo since we now have Headlong Rush Tusk with attack investment that can threaten to 1-shot, and Corviknight can pivot out without being Gholdengo food. Honestly though, the team was never SUPER weak to Gholdengo in my opinion. Everything either threatens it with a ton of damage or pivots out post changes, and even before only Corviknight was stuck against it.
Honestly I’d disagree with changing bulk up to rocks on the first team. With how common boots are on mons significantly impacted by rocks I’d say as a rule if you don’t have knock off always go for spikes or even hazardless instead. And honestly any mon that has a viable setup move should be considering it because of tera and how that with a setup move wins so many games. Stealth rocks can be good if you have the capacity to remove boots on your team but without it spikes is so much more impactful in my experience. Meowscrada is such a frail mon that you can’t realistically expect it to knock off every boots user and would you even want to stay in to knock them off when meowscrada dies a lot of the time to get that boots knocked since it’s weak to the types of mons that typically run boots. Losing your fast clean up in exchange for boots on a fire or flying type doesn’t really seem favorable.
The team had a Knock Off Meowscarada. Running Knock Off Meowscarada without an SR pokemon is very, very tough. SR is also a big deal against bulkier teams, a tiny bit of chip on Gliscor / Corv / Skarm goes a long way.
@@pinkacross2042so you are gonna click knock off on a flying type and die immediately just to get boots off. You’d ideally want to be able to have some bulk to live the hit to click knock off a bunch and meowscrada doesn’t have the power to consistently be one shotting everything with knock off to force switches. By the time meowscrada comes in ideally you aren’t needing knock off as it just outspeeds and cleans up the entire team that’s already been weakened. You wouldn’t want to be sending it out so early ideally but as the only knock off user in a team utilizing rocks that’s basically mandatory. Honestly I’d just swap a few mons to have gliscor instead for knock if we’re going the rocks route It’s ground typing often baits in flying types which it can severely cripple by removing boots and it’s got the longevity to remove multiple items if needed. Rocks chip on corvid is not worth getting brave birded and losing meowscrada.
@@ultimaterecoil1136 The idea is not to KO flying types 1v1 with Meowscarada. The fact that it's not 1-shotting is the exact reason SR is so important. Scarf Meow is not just an endgame cleaner at all. You're thinking very theoretically. Try the team with SR, and without SR. You'll see the difference.
@@pinkacross2042 I know it can’t ko one vs one but every time you are in vs a common boots mon unless they are at like half health you’d be forced to switch or lose it. And having meowscrada remove one item slot and then die seems very wasteful. It’s more threatening same as most speedy mons when everything is significantly chipped which would ideally be because a different mon actually did the knocking or perhaps because the breakers put in significant work. Honestly you’d be clicking uturn a lot more in the early game to pivot to the breakers to make progress with similar team structures I’ve ran in my experience. And When I realized looking at those replays that rocks genuinely did nothing in a significant chunk of my matches as the damage they did do didn’t affect any ranges I found that there was just better things in that moveslot. Good enough play with breakers can still get through defensive core if your pivots get them the opportunities they need which meowscrada can’t do if it’s dead. The pivoting for proper positioning is more important then knocking at least in my experience so it can’t afford to knock a lot of the time.

@@adpg4471 Zamazenta has a lot of viable, fairly easily implemented counters. Ogerpon has zero. But i am not able to get the correct team around to sweep to get really high but i did get to 1500. Please make a video teambuild and get to the top of ladder
To my best understanding, this allows Lando-T to keep up offensive pressure even when burned, and also preys on the meta’s commonly low SpDef stats (Great Tusk, Kingambit, and more tend to have significantly less SpDef than Def, and Lando-T’a SpAtk is not bad even compared to its Atk) edit: Oh, also it doesn’t get halved in power by Rillaboom’s grassy terrain

Even after it uses Tera, it's not hard to slap a Tera Ghost pokemon on your team (Alo/Clef/Corv/Skarm, etc.) that shuts it down hard.
@@pinkacross2042 That really makes sense. Thanks for taking the time and sharing your opinion with me! It's really true the fact that Ogerpon has no switch-ins, nonetheless it normally don't give me problems because I use more offensive Teams, but it seems to be a pain for bulkier ones. I still gonna love the Pon tho (just because packing a lot of stallbreakers with no cost in a Sticky Web Team is braindead funny once you see the Stall Player)
@@adpg4471 Fair enough, glad you kept your mind open! :]
Pinkacross here doing the gods' work.
I liked the jim-esque bit
Whats your opinion on arctozolt if it was in gen 9?
It would be nothing crazy but definitely viable, sick mon
Do you make use of honkulations when you teambuild?
No, I don't know what that is! Is that some sort of app for building?
@@pinkacross2042 it's a feature on the Smogon calculator. Go to "one v all" or "all v one" and you can search the database for how much damage your mon takes from the meta or what it can and cannot KO
Hey Pinkacross,
I want to build a rain team around loaded dice GRENINJA. I have tried many sets and it is just nuts TERA WATER + BATTLE BOND + LOADED DICE + RAIN hits way harder. But i am not able to get the correct team around to sweep to get really high but i did get to 1500. Please make a video teambuild and get to the top of ladder
That's a fun idea! I'll write it down. :]
Why earth power on Lando over earthquake?
To my best understanding, this allows Lando-T to keep up offensive pressure even when burned, and also preys on the meta’s commonly low SpDef stats (Great Tusk, Kingambit, and more tend to have significantly less SpDef than Def, and Lando-T’a SpAtk is not bad even compared to its Atk)
edit: Oh, also it doesn’t get halved in power by Rillaboom’s grassy terrain
Perfect answer by @Harmless_Music! Another big reason is Breaking Swipe Gouging Fire!
@@pinkacross2042 I think my memory blocked that mon out from how much I hated fighting that thing lol

@@pinkacross2042 could that beat a good team in gen9 nat dex?
Another team related series idea, turning OM teams into OU teams
Noted!
NO LOKIX GANG? THE WHAT
LOL we can't always have Lokix
@@pinkacross2042 true, it's a pretty terrible team XD
When will be the next fixing and rating teams video? I want to try to send a team over to be rated that i recently made
Probably 2 or 3 videos from now
do you do natdex with this
I do not, I may in the future though
Have you ever thought about competing in draft? Feel like you would be goated at it
I certainly have, it seems like a lot of fun! However, life is very busy right now. If I do draft, I'd have to drop OU probably (or at least take my focus away from it). I only have time to be good and competent at one metagame, and I think OU is the right choice.
@@pinkacross2042 very fair, you can always try speed tours (draft) if you ever find the time.
Hell yeah new video to watch
:D
lol fixing teams looks like a superpower to me ur based
Definitely a superpower
Why would he want a superpower it lowers attack and defense!

Tens of thousands of youtubers do very similar things. It gets more subscribers than the videos where I don't do something like this.

Coming here after Blimax dumpstered you for claiming him, blunder and pokeaimd are trash 😆
Again? Or is this still the one from a few months back? (Obviously these claims are false, all three of them are skilled players, particularly Aim)
