- Nottingham Forest were the talk of the Premier League at the weekend after beating Liverpool 1-0, their first win at Anfield since 1969. We discuss the game and Callum Hudson-Odoi's goal in full and ask if the win will be the catalyst for a big season for Forest, plus we react to the news Ibrahim Sangare is out for two months through injury.
Matt Davies is joined by Greg Mitchell, Michael Temple and Forest legend Garry Birtles. #nffc #nottinghamforest

Another great episode. What a performance 👏. I was watching the game next to my brother who supports Liverpool. And once CHO and Elanga came on and Liverpool had made a few changes, I turned to him and said, " We have ye, ye have weakened yere team and we now have our strongest 11 on the pitch, ye've taken the bait now time to slam the trap shut." A couple of minutes later, CHO pings it in off the post😂 what a day
Love it 😂.

That's the best satisfaction story I've heard so far! Being in Sydney the one bonus I get is that a really sizeable percent of people who follow the EPL (including the only workmate that I can chat "soccer" with) are Liverpool fans. I had grumbling rights ever since Nunez' cheat goal. Now I have proper bragging rights!
Ward-Prowse made a huge difference to our team, did you see his stats? He's going to be a huge addition to us this season. Allowed Yates to be (even) more aggressive and forward thinking 👍🏼
Agree, you don't play 400 PL games by age of 29 without being a top quality player. His experience and his all round professionalism will really add to our squad.
He will take a lot of pressure off mgw too
We should buy JWP and Moreno
@@tm2204
They will definitely improve the squad/ team
To me everything seemed a little different this summer and I think will be a good season, and after going for 60 years I don't get carried away.
It's the confidence that this WIn will give us that interests me. We'll go to Brighton full of confidence.....and I'd play the same starting 11 again. Paul Merson made interesting comment - which I agree with ; the pressure of playing Fulham at home in 2 weeks is greater than Liverpool away. He made the point that if Forest ARE to have a Top 10 season, it's how we handle the pressure of Home games that will show the real progress the club is making. Obviously extatic right now, but 1 point from the next 2 games and we'll know a bit more about this season.....win both and I'll be off the scale excited.
Loved that banner of Marinakis, ‘the sheriff of Nottingham’ 😂
the sheriff wasn't exactly the good guy. Can't we make him "Friar Doesn't Give A Fk?" haha
3 years ago today we started a run. Fingers crossed it happens again. Because "a run" would look like cementing ourselves in the top 8. But I would be MORE THAN happy with just progression. One game at a time. If we spend this season never having to do relegation calculations then THAT is serious progress.
14:18 I hate stats
31:04 his stats in the euros were superb
😀
As long as the players stay fit. But let's not get carried away just yet. I'll take anywhere above a relegation battle this season.
14th and 40-45 points be progress, anything beyond that be excellent.
A friend reminded me that on the equivalent Saturday 3 years ago Forest were losing at home to Middlesborough and were bottom of the Championship. The club has come along way since then....
Important thing now for Forest is to start consistently beating teams outside the top 6 which requires a different style of play.
The important thing is to get more points than last 2 seasons and finish higher up the table. 8 points from 4 games is a great start, let's enjoy it.
You are spot on. Teams lower in league who give us the ball have a far better record. Picking points up in those games will be a big step forward.
Love Greg's optimism!! I'd happily take 12th-14th as a 'huge' step forward in becoming an established PL side.
JUST SEEN THIS THE GREAT GARY BIRTLES WHAT A PLAYER HE WAS BEEN A RED 50 YEARS NOW SO MANY FABULOUS BOYHOOD MEMORIES THANKYOU FOR THAT ♥️🏐🥅⚽
It's a huge shame that most matches were not recorded when GB was a pro - and a top one at that. I recall him saying that he scored a couple of 20 yarders (unusual for him), but there were literally no cameras at the game - and this was top flight football !!! Even as recently as 1991, there were hardly any Football Jounrnalists at Forest games - just the local ones....again, this was in the top division. These days players can't move without media being there to record it.
Aye they were the days.. turn up and pay a couple of quid.. standing.. proper atmosphere in the old Trent end.. or the uncovered bridgford end.. happy days.. oh and yes, some cracking players including Garry 🫡🌳⭐️⭐️..
I watched the game for the 3rd time and focusing on Milenkovic, the guy has eyes on the back of his head! His positional sense is incredible. JWP similarly.
Another thing that struck me was how much Forest players were communicating. The number of times someone has an arm out indicating to a colleague. It was constant.
The biggest thing, for me, that came from that game was that the back 4 which we all (mostly) hoped for was used. And worked. Oh My, how it worked. And it will give us the confidence not to use a back 3. With JWP and Andersen in midfield we don't need to, even against City. That back 4 is locked in, any tinkering will only be forward of that.
CHO was brilliant in that he set up the full back by showing him both ways on a couple of occasions which puts doubt into the defender’s mind
Great episode lads. I thought the performance was one of our best over the last 3 seasons, like you said JWP, Milenkovic and Moreno have made a big old difference.
One thing I need to point out: we did get done a couple of times by Liverpool, and Sels made two good if routine saves. Both were headers at the back post from aerial balls from their left. They targeted Murillo's height. We will need to be aware of that threat in every game for the rest of the season.
There was a time when Forest fans used to sing "Are you watching Jimmy Hill?" due to his constant calls for BC to retire. Where's Misery Guts Fletcher gone, is he out "getting the city" with "Steve" somewhere closer to Leicester? 😂
Great episode as always guys
Great win, keep our head out of the clouds because it's a long season, show the EPL that this win was not a fluke and get a result at Brighton!
One game at a time!!!
Liverpool have not lost at home since April 2017
Scrub that it’s October 2022
Let's not get carried away.
comparing CHO with Robbo praise indeed.
Get our young strikers on team or on bench got good guys
With one game, why are so many people getting carried away? What did people see in the first 3 game to completely change their minds
Oh, Christ, now you've gone & jinxed us..........
Gary wants to congratulate Brentford.. for our win ????? Stop bringing him on he just goes his way not the proper chat like the rest 😮
Disagree.. I’ve always liked Garry.. he’s a proper gent and has more knowledge in his morning pi$$ than you..
@@Expatred66 good for you 👍 👏
