I love shopping at Menard's when my job travels take me near one. It is better than other stores because it is much more than a hard wear store. They sell groceries & much more.

The Victorinox FieldMaster is the only thing of interest, a very good multi tool with same tool set as the Huntsman but has a Phillips screwdriver on backside instead of corkscrew…. 2 blades, saw, SCISSORS, can opener, bottle opener, a, parcel hook, and screwdriver for $50. I have the yellow handle Gadsden version.

@@ssunfish We do have Böker and the Knife-Lounge in Hamburg, yes. But if I consider all those anazing knife stores you have in the States... I know which country is the better one for knife nerds. Not to mention that we are not allowed to carry folding knives that can be one-hand-opened and have a lock.

We used to have a Menards in my town way back in the day. (Sonora, CA)
Every time I’m at my local Menards I always hit the knife aisle hoping something new may pop up.
How often does it happen?

Menards is good when they have their "everything in the paper bag is 15% off" sale. I always pick up a Buck 112 Slim or Buck Bantam to give away as a gift.

I'm in Texas and some of the best knife selection I've seen hasn't been in any of our big box stores. Some of the biggest variety I've found has been in a few of the mom and pop hardware stores around where I live.
They opened one of these near me in WV a few years ago, I’m in Pa. Went there a couple years ago and they didn’t have anything. Need to check back.

The Camillus Chunk is actually a pretty good knife esp. when we consider the price.
My neighbor had a buck 110 auto on his belt the other day . That’s what people carry around here . Cases, old timers , etc and those knives . Man , they’re missing out . I hardly see a spyderco or anythjng cool unless I’m at the gun store or something .

I'm watching internationally. I love these videos of stores because I don't have that kind of stores in my country. If I was there right now I would buy the Buck 119 Special for a fixed blade and maybe that CRKT Squid for a folder.

@@BirdShotIV Peru. Our hardware stores are a fraction of the big ones you have in the US. Regarding pocket knives, you don't usually find them in these stores, and if you do, they are no-name and low quality.
We really are lucky here despite the other things that may go on.

My Menards had Crescent knives in D2 on clearance for $7 each. I may have bought 5. 😂

Buck 110 and 119 are the best knives on that rack IMO. Can't go wrong with worksharp as well. Both companies also have insanely good customer service.

This has been my first time watching in a while, still subbed though 🙂. No Menards here in Southern Califonia though. And even our Home Depot and Lowes have way less knives. It's like a different country here as far as that goes. I'm actually going to make it to the Atlanta Blade Show this year so maybe I'll get a chance to say hi to you guys.

Menards brands has some good stuff, I picked up an LED portable work light, it works great. Those tool chests look good, my work picked up two smaller Husky chests, they're crap, but they weren't cheap!🤦♂️

I got a Worksharp Precision Adjust basic for Christmas last year. It's a good set up for small to medium folding knives and does a pretty good job on them. Was saving for the 'elite' kit with 3 extra stone grits and I think a leather strop, but now I'm thinking to just save for their new model with the angle guide and properly sized for sharpening large knives.

Watching from SE Michigan. Depending where you go to a store at, big city or rural, will determine what's at stores in stock. Walmart in particular is very different experience depending on locale. Northern Michigan rural areas you can find Spyderco in stock at Walmart. I haven't been to Menards in some time, so not sure what's available these days.
I like when you two do some window shopping for knives, i feel like you're doing a service to the new people in our hobby or even help people get into the hobby. Nothing in box stores amuses me, like yourself I've been in hobby for some time and have much richer taste.
Hope you start to feel better Bird and get some relief from the conditions previously discussed with us. Stay positive and know there are some of us that genuinely care about your health and well being. If all else fails with being able to work a job, you may need to suck it up and apply for permanent disability. There is no shame in going on disability if thats the future life has given you.

I dislike Gerber knives (never had a good experience with them), although I like & trust the Suspension-NXT that I own.
You guys should try some Camillus products. I have a Camillus Titanium knife I bought from WM for cheap, and so didn't expect much out of. But it's done jobs I'm afraid to put my Kershaw Leek up to-- and the clip is great about not sliding out on hikes

I own the Gerber Quadrant. I too thought it looked kind of cool (and it does), but it's truly a horrible knife. It has the worst action I've probably ever seen. The framelock drags against the blade and it absolutely will not flip open despite the fact that there's a flipper tab and it's clearly meant to be flipped. As I recall, it did not come very sharp either, plus the part of the blade that was coated has a major flaw. I only kept it so I had an example of a bad knife to show folks to make my good knives seem better. Lol.

$ 64.99 for the Buck 110 is a terrible price unless it's got better steel than the standard version. Either I'm in the twilight zone or I fell asleep and woke up 10 years later. I paid $38 for it a little over a year ago.

Camillus has been making blade a long long time , before 1900 but Acme bought them last I heard . Lots of old Camillus knives out there
