It's more about the fact that dishwashers don't have brushes to clean the dishes, they use water and soap that gets swished around to clean the dishes. That's why it takes such a long time. Also it's good that they spend time on the rinse cycle because that dishwasher soap is strong and you don't want that to still be on your dishes when you eat or drink from them. I've had dishwashers that have had a tough time getting rid of soapy residue from glasses so even though I have a new dishwasher now I always rinse the glasses before I use them to make sure that there is no soapy residue on them.
Y'all say "organise" as if there are many ways to load a dishwasher. I mean, sure people who are good at puzzles can fit the most things in without wasting space, but it's not that those of us who are less apt just throw things in randomly, there are very specific slots for everything, the variation surely is minimal! Yeah maybe if you overfill it one or two things won't get cleaned properly and will stay in for another cycle, but the majority will, as long as you haven't put dishes in with food remains still in them.

The dishwasher struggle is real. I am convinced that my wife thinks the dishwasher operates on magic, because that's the only way the dishes will get clean the way she shoehorns things in there.
Over the years I've become an expert at dishwasher loading. I can fit in a lot of stuff in such a way that it is all clean and shiny when I take it out. This is possible once you've got to know your dishwasher, your crockery, your cutlery and your other kitchenware and cooking vessels. You learn what fits in where and what slots in where and and at what angle etc. If you're smart, you can get it all in and still have it come out perfect.

Ideally, I clean the dishes twice. I clean them by hand and then put them in the dishwasher so they are thoroughly sanitized unless I'm in a bit of a rush then I just do them by hand.
Actually newer models have sensors built in that determine how dirty the dishes are and your instruction from the manufacturer will explain that pre-washing is not only unnecessary but actually causes the washer to perform at a lower level. It made snese back in the day when technology was basic but not today. Don't pre-wash, it's self defeating and only makes you waste water.
@sekeriya94, that is not necessarily true, especially with modern dishwashers that have "eco" settings, using surprisingly small amounts of water. Doing the same amount of dishes - with the same efficiency - by hand will probably consume more hot water (& electricity), unless you want to wash the last items in cold and yucky water.
But you don't get more stuff in! My wife will stuff and say there's no more room, but I know that if it was tidily done we could be efficient and get more in. Just sayin' ;)
See, you have to learn how to stuff while being mindful of the trajectory of the water and how much space there is to get in. There is a way to stuff it and have every single item come out clean every time, and I have mastered it. I fill it so full that I have to hold the top rack up with one hand when I pull it out or it will fall off the tracks from the weight. 😄 But I literally never have to rewash things.

Conan isn't the best talk show host, but he is the wittiest and funniest of them all, if you watch his remotes. Craig ferguson is cool but all of his interviews have the same vibe, like he's playacting with all his guests the same play, so that gets old. Graham Norton is hands down the best talk show host out there, his show has a laid-back feel unlike any other, and you get to see celebrity interactions that you would never have seen otherwise. Celebrities love being on the Graham Norton show just as much as the audience enjoys seeing them on the Graham Norton Show.

Dish washer in India is thought of as a first world luxury item. It takes more than an hour to clean a bucket load of dishes.. and we clean in less than 20 minutes by hand... Also the power consumption is enormous...and not all kinds of utensils are dishwasher friendly.. From the debate above, it seems it will be another task to organize the dishes in washer and it possibly requires some maintenance too i guess.. Hand washing for us..

Even with the potential and advancement in solar energy it is still fossil-fuel country so electrification is still far behind for an aspiring industrializing nation, to put it in perspective a typical home's electrical box is commonly equipped with a couple 30A fuses, so if wanting to bring that circuit near its limit an A/C unit for example would be preferrable rather than a dishwasher.

Dishwashers are so pointless. By the time you have loaded it, waited for it to do a cycle, unloaded it, you could have just done all the dishes yourself and put them away. An expensive way to be lazy with a small household task that doesn't take much time, if you do them straight away.

OMG, I thought I was the only one who got blamed for misdeeds that I did, in my girlfriend's DREAMS. Personally I can't fathom how any woman would think that was rational or fair. So happy that I'm no longer with any that do that :D
No rational person would think that indeed, but sadly most HUMANS are irrational.
My wife once dreamt of me drowning kittens in a bucket; she got mad at me when she woke up. Three years later, she still blames me for that.
Women are very intuitive so a dream like that could indicate that there's something making her insecure or something they have noticed that made the dream happen so getting mad is only natural.

I once had zn acquaintance who had two dishwashers and two sets of washer/dryers. She died laughing when I asked to move in (she had 4 boys, 1 girl, a husband and her youngest brother).
Dishwashers are so pointless. By the time you have loaded it, waited for it to do a cycle, unloaded it, you could have just done all the dishes yourself and put them away. An expensive way to be lazy with a small household task that doesn't take much time, if you do them straight away.
