Not sure why this video is getting so much hate, this is really good. Much better than I could do, and this is coming from someone who's been building sirens for a few years.
So I am a writer and your video has helped with some technical difficulties that I'm having to put it on paper knowing that an air raid siren can actually be constructed by hand with a bench grinder has given me enough inspiration that my story can make an air raid siren
No the vibration frequency sounds more like a weedeater the frequency is too low therefor too low pitch so it wouldnt sound sålike an råairraid siren so it wouldnt five them flashbacks
@@ChrisVTitus it’s spinning 2850, the europe standard so it’s at the right RPM but it needs double the port ratio to sound better. 8/12 instead of 4/6.
I've been looking into some how to make tornado siren videos for a project to do with my little brother. He and i are obsessed with sirens and i made a promise to him once I'd have the money to, we'd make one together. We may start off small because he's very young but so far once he's older to understand measurements I'm more than likely gonna use this tutorial for our bigger siren project
attach a blower onto the siren! that makes it louder, its the same way that the thunderbolt, hurricane 130 (mki/mkii), and the model 120 become louder.
Neighbors: what’s with all the loud banging, sawing and drilling noises creeping out of your shop at all hours... Sean: Think that was loud?! ... (puts siren in backyard on a timer set for 3am, off and on every five seconds for a minute...) ✌🏼😉
That is an excellent project!!! There is one issue however, its the motor. It does not have enough torque to pull the needed air through the siren. I have basically the same grinder from Lidl and it does to have the power to do grinding. Try covering one side of the air intake and see if the tone on the remaining side increases. If so it shows that the motor lacks the power to pull the air through properly. Think I might do one of these as well. Alway nice to prank someone.
I like the low pitch. It sounds cool. I wonder how much lower you could go and still have decent volume. Maybe you could make one with eight separate chambers staggered to sound like a V8 engine with open headers!!!! 🤔👍
You've definitely got some skills and I think you did an awesome job! My only critique would be that it sounds underpowered. Would love to hear it with a motor that has a little more power/spins at a higher rpm maybe.
@@projectmayhemUK or do a Colin Furze and gear it up. A kids' pedal tricycle flipped upside down might give you everything you need if you can replace the pedals with a drive plate attached to the grinder. Another option: out with the bench grinder, in with a pair of angle grinders, but they might be a bit too torquey and just wreck the rotor. You'd definitely want a guard on them :D
Wait! Before you finished the recording, you forgot to give the "all clear" :-) Great job and amazing video, thank you! I knew I shouldn't have returned my einhell bench grinder, it did have a use after all! haha!
So totally off topic but ...how do you like that Dewalt jig saw.? I have that saw only 18V version, I find the blades are difficult to get to stay in and harder to find with that goofy mounting system they use. Anyway. nice job on the siren.
Different numbers of holes means different pitches. It makes that jarring dissonant sound. If both sides had the same number of holes, it would sound more like a howl.
10:38 that wood piece doesn't want to live anymore
haha
Everybody scatter! Running time!
It does not wanna be a air raid siren I guess
Yea🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahah

I know right?
Snowcube they r afraid of world war 2
@@axelgutierrez831 Maybe because if the low rpm :/
@@myu5617 It could also be because of the port ratio, 4/6
I don't see that hate
Amazing job! To build a well balanced rotor out of plywood is pretty incredible.
It's a better option than solid wood, especially something coarse grained and knotty like pine.
Why the dislikes? Give the guy a break, he did a great job. Try doing yours if you think you can do better instead of disliking.
Fr bro like my cousin yesterday Said to my first homemade siren "it sucks" like bro! Bish wtf bro! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT EFFORT IS!?
So I am a writer and your video has helped with some technical difficulties that I'm having to put it on paper knowing that an air raid siren can actually be constructed by hand with a bench grinder has given me enough inspiration that my story can make an air raid siren
Nice! You managed to make it sound like the original carter siren! Probably cause of the port ratios, awesome!
Rename this:
“How to prank your grandparents”
No the vibration frequency sounds more like a weedeater the frequency is too low therefor too low pitch so it wouldnt sound sålike an råairraid siren so it wouldnt five them flashbacks
Are you familiar with how noise works (frequency = pitch) (pressure = higher decibal) decibal being “loudness”
More like how to get your grand parents to go to the shelter and then make them think there screwed because there is no shelter
Impressive. I would have used a different port size so it would be more high pitched. Either way, using a bench grinder for that is total genius.
Agreed, wrong pitch.
@@86FxBdyCpe It is a little low for a siren, but it does sound like a V-twin revving, which is cool.

Instal clock timer that and it best alarm clock in the world :D
I tried that, it scared the s*** out of me
Nothing like a good scare to get your adrenaline pumping in the morn', wakes you up real good for work

Cool siren build, but that table saw setup stole the show for me. 👍👍

i might try this, good thing I got 2 vacuum motors (up to 15,000 to 35,000 RPM) might be even louder lol
breezetix that’s high, low RPM’s make it so it’s not insanely high pitched
0:06 sounds like revving some V6.
Nice Job, You can buy AC motor speed controllers cheap on ebay.. That would control the sound like a true WW2 siren..
Very clever, now just a a horn to it and connect to your burglar alarm😃
this video is underrated at the same time it's a nice video
at the end, i was sure you were about to cop a fry pan in the noggin! lol.
Top effort mate.
Cheers for sharing.

Nice job. Great buid
Nice alarm clock 👍
If anyone was wondering, this is 4/6 port.
Sounded kinda like an aca allertor but not getting up to full speed 😹
Great one! Good idea to base it on a Carter air raid siren!
Cool siren!

A cool video of a cool siren!
The sound reminded me of the THX surround sound commercial. Cool build. Maybe add something that can change the speed of the motor...
Doug Owens If you want a higher pitch, you're gonna need to use three phase electricity to drive the motor.
The 4/6 ports make it sound like an ACA P-50 but 1/4 the pitch.

The "alert" merged with the "all clear". ;-)
Only is this went a little bit faster, it would sound like a ACA P-50
You mean ACA P-15?
Oh I see what you mean
This a really nice engine!
This is insane.
I have to subscribe
4 and 6 ports - 2/3 frequency ratio - 5th musical interval.

This was so cool mate!
Wow so cool I like that siren noise
Can you do the same thing with a faster spinning bench grinder?
Thank you for posting this cool video!
If I was you I would rig this up as a security alarm for your garage / workshop. People will not hang around if they attempt to break in!
Thats actually a really cool tone coming from it.
Add a VFD to it so the motor will ramp up and down slower
Great build. I think the best way to get a richer sound is to make there be more vents
Cool Video!
Splendid work
Your siren is so good
I checked out your other videos and I am impressed by your ingenuity. I have subscribed!
It sounds like a car engine ^^
Very good , sounds like a carter , but way better!
Can't make one in California, unless you want 20 cops, 15 firemen, and two eyes in the sky ready to take you to jail.
Land of the free?
Sean Beardon that's California, though. Full of liberals... xd
Sean Beardon California IS NOT land of the free. Its turning out to be quite the opposite
Hahaha how gov scared of horn... Hahaha
There's something they scared of right?
Elijah920 damn them liberals
Why did you turn it off?
Why didn’t you have gloves when you turned 2nd side?
Oh this is gonna blow Stockmarket I want in
If you play at 0.75x it looks like a normal video
Do you burn the first drill? that's why you get the new Dewalt?😅
Nice air raid siren. And is deep
That reminds me; I need a new drill press. Kewl video.
What were the measurements for all of the rings and circles?
you made a mini Carter siren, pretty damn cool!
Whats the point of it if the neighbours do not complain? I dont understand.
This is only a test. Please ignore the multiple warheads flying in our direction

Do it bigger and attach to any rpm controller and it will sound exactly as siren.
Awesome! Its too bad that the pitch can't go any higher but great job overall!
9:35 did anyone see that? If not it said “Oh????”
c wat
MeloAnimations yup I did
Why does one have not as many holes

i love the Salad Fingers shirt
Me fala para que serve isso?
where are the dimensions?
I want to build that
This can be helpful. Why ya people disliking the vid???
Hopefully, when I do this myself, I can use 3D printed parts, but still use bench grinder instead
NOW I know what to use my Harbor Freight grinder for during the upcoming bombing raids of WWII.. Oh wait..time doesn't work in reverse does it?
Sounds like Britain WW2 Carter. It's based off of the Carter.
How did you disassemble the grinder? I have a einhell too and would like to turn it into a polishing machine. Please contact me.
13:04 holy moly it is loud🙉🙈🙈
This is pretty good considering the crude tools and methods. Thumbs
You can add a great 5 reduction for higher frequency
Very good !!!
There goes the siren that warns of the air raid, then comes the sound of the guns sending flak...
Tune!
There's no need for air raid sirens anymore in the US. Most air raid sirens are being repurposed to tornado sirens
3:48 it's better than my first try
Endlessly practical.
my neighbors got mad at me for building this...
turns out it wasn't actually me
14:49 4/6 port siren
What do charge to make me one ? I love it.
God bless your neighbors
its a 6/3 port which has no real life counterparts making it unique
You sure do know your way around the jigsaw
cool idea!

i want his air raid Siren made from bench Grinder i really like it
it ......... i'm here in philipiness
Yo this is neat
i was playing this and i forgot my granpa was awake and he passed out but luckely hes still alive
It's good to wake up the neighbors.
Brilliant, but why only a few seconds run ? Let er wind up to full speed and show us what it can do.
Did you not watch it all the way to the end?
do a 4/9 port carter siren
