Hey Mick just started to watch the video. I've paused it to say that the first peg you started to fish on is my favourite peg on that stretch i've caught barbel and chub off that peg casting to the left as much as you can just missing the tree as you cast in the middle of the river. Thats my top tip lol i will carry on watching and hope to meet you on the banks sometime and make an appearance in one of your youtube videos lol
Great stuff mick, quatford has got me this year I've had 12 chubb in 3 sessions up to 4lb one barbel on but lost in a last minute hook pull, but I won't give up !
Well done Mick. Love watching your videos. Got to admire your persistence and great to see you break your duck with that barbel. Some nice chub too. I've fished that stretch quite a bit and it can be a bit hit and miss but does produce the goods now and again. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure wherever that might be. Stay safe mate and tight lines.
Great video. Making plans at the moment to fish there in just over a week. Hopefully I will be at the other side on the Bridgnorth angling stretch. Will try the peg opposite side of the River and go with the Robin Reds. Had a few Barbel just further up stream past the River Worfe on the golf course side on luncheon meat. Small banded pellets size 12 hook seem to pull a few out which is my dads tactics.
Great watch, Mick. Regarding baits I've used Sonubaits mini oozing Spicy Sausage bandums on my travels to the Severn with good success with chub and barbel . They ooze off colour and flavour in the water. Look forward to seeing your next vid
If you walk downstream, past the mansion (Apley Hall), and the private stretch. You will come to the best fishing. There is a wooded area, with some comfortable swims, then an opening with three swims. They are possibly the best swims on the whole river. Tons of barbel and chub. A friend of mine once had over 40 barbel, in a single session. I kid you not, they are prolific swims.
Well done Mick, great to get off the mark with a Barbel. Some clonking Chub there. I fish Apley quite regularly, it does throw up some nice fish. Do you mind me asking what rucksack you use? I need to get a new one. Looking forward to your videos over the season. Tight lines.
Well done Mick. Can I pinch any advice. Fishing burns stretch middle of August. How do you pick your spots to fish in the water. 3rd time now barbel fishing.
Considerably richer than you!!, watch the rod tip rather than golf, after all thats what your there for...isn't it ?? Nice vid by the way mate.🤓 This week I have been mostly eating tarmasalata..
