Yeah. It reminds me of the box for the Blade Runner gun, which was the first of Adam’s videos I watched. Was definitely a factor in getting me to start making stuff.

The part that he stated "I think my gloves are compromised" and went to promptly change them shows clearly that Adam is very experienced and comfortable as a craftsman, but doesn't allow himself to become lax. Allot of people would have gone "meh they're compromised already so whats the issue?" Its the experienced crafters that get injured most often as they become comfortable and so become lax. I do wish he took a moment to address it though. Proper safety measures are always a great thing to mention, especially what to do when they fail.

I just watched Hamilton live here in the Philippines, thought nothing of it at first, just brushed it off as a "unique" broadway show, I liken it to just something I just pass by a mall without a care in the world. I just went for my GF, after watching it, it's probably one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life. It's always been stuck in my head for over a month now and that very rarely happens. It's one of the best THINGS I have ever had a pleasure to experience. If you can go, GO!

  • @Thomas_Esson

FYI for anyone aiming to get these, the base is model 1043/L, but it may come with the wrong hammer, so you may need to switch it out for the style on their model 1031/L. Also, the original Public Theater production's props were on display years ago with unaltered gold parts, so that can still be considered accurate.

It seems i am among the masses in the sens that i also absolutely love watching Adam make boxes. I also love fancy and specific containers and so every time i see him making a box of any sort i get so excited. I would also like to say that appreciated the shot explaining detail requirements for theater, movies, and in person. It made me laugh out loud.

For anyone checking out the Denix link, the base model is correct, but the hammer with the loop on top is wrong, so you may need to switch it out for the style on their model 1031/L (or perhaps write to them and request that).

Adam. Have you ever tried using cloth, wrapping your object tightly to get the curves, and then using the vacuum former to get the perfect shape for an object, and then using flexi-felt to cover it and create a perfectly smooth and tight fit for your fragile/older relics? It looks beautiful.

Years ago a gun magazine hired an expert to examine the dueling pistols, which were kept in a private Rockefeller museum at the Chase Manhattan Bank. He claimed in the article that Hamilton's gun was modified to have a hair trigger, presumably to give Hamilton an advantage. The theory he presented was that Hamilton was a bit nervous, and accidentally fired early, missing his mark and hitting a tree branch. Burr then had time to aim precisely.

    • @ZazuYen
      @ZazuYen ปีที่แล้ว

In the two productions of Hamilton I've seen he fiddles with his pistol just before the duel starts, I've assumed this was a nod to him adjusting the set (hair) trigger.

That said....those classes...I was there....I passed them...but I had way more fun in my Tech and Acting classes. My lack of interest however does not diminish the importance Dramaturgs have to a production!!

Adam, I really enjoy watching your process. One little thing on this one scared me though. When you were cutting your box into 2 pieces, your feather board was in a very dangerous place. It should never apply pressure past the front edge of the blade as you cut. Putting pressure where the blade is can cause kickback. Just a thought

He demonstrates a compelling argument that the coin could do some serious damage if thrown! I was wondering whether the coin would start to tumble as it fell further, or would it maintain a spin like demonstrated in his video? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

I have been wanting to make a similar box for an original British flintlock sea service pistol I bought from a museum. It was a battlefield pick up from the battle of New Orleans during the war of 1812. I still take it out and fire it on Special Occasions. Great shooter, but it's very hard to hit anything, being it has no sights

I had never seen Hamilton or heard any of the music until a few weeks ago. My daughters middle school did a trip to see it in Chicago and they let them get tickets for family as well. I was NOT expecting what we got. I’m more familiar with traditional mainstream broadway and musicals. My daughter was named after Eliza Dolittle so yeah. Now she knows why her music teacher always sings her name the way she does. I was pleasantly surprised with the whole thing.

As to the boxes appearance on stage you're most likely referring to the 6 foot 6 inch rule. At 6 feet it looks flawless but at 6 inches you can see it's true construction. Which also applies to reproductions and repairs of real antiques.

The prop version of the Spanish culture of "this will do just fine". And guess what, they do just fine for what they are meant for. As few as needed moving parts, all cast. You won't get the "cling clang" or "clap clap" of a working replica, but for the price, you can run on the background with one of these clenched on your hands for as many hours, as harsh environment as you get, and no one will ever make the difference.

I strongly suspect that in SF there is a company that would have plated those parts in a bright nickel solution, then a dark nickel. Then run them through a vibrio polisher, and coated them with clear lacquer.
And because you are you they would have done it today, and charged only a few dollars.

All that work to hide the grain ends of plywood, but then you left them on the edges where you cut the box open so that when the box is opened my eyes are immediately drawn to the bands of plywood. A bit of adhesive veneer strips, frequently used on the edges of furniture, would've hidden that. But I realize this is just theater quality you're going for.
