    Thanks so much for the video. I was looking for an alternative to Peloton for my Bike - because the monthly cost is too high for me at the current time.
    Buying the Sensors and one month of Zwift cost about the same as the Peloton subscription for one month. So i´m giving this a shot.

    Thanks for your review, Jourdain! I was choosing between these and Xoss or Cycplus.
    Can you tell if it's possible to use them through ANT+ let's say with my watch or bike computer, and at the same via bluetooth with my smartphone? Or once bluetooth is enabled ANT+ isn't functioning too?
    Also how do they hold so far, do you have any complaints?

    • @JourdainColeman
      @JourdainColeman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! Thanks for commenting. From my understanding you can only use Bluetooth or ant+. However, you can connect to multiple devices with ant+ (although I've not actually tired that). So in theory you could connect the speed and cadence sensors to a cycle computer and a watch at the same time with ant+.
      With Bluetooth it's only one device
      To add to that, iOS doesn't have ant+ but some android devices do. So keep that in mind.
      They have helded up well so far, still working and I'm using the same battery that was shipped with the sensors. I'm actually on the turbo now using them as we speak. Hahaha
      I hope that info helps 👍🏼

    • @sensovision
      @sensovision 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JourdainColeman thanks, and yes this info does helps! My phone has ANT+ so I can use it simultaneously with my watches, but having the ability to connect via bluetooth at the same time is still looks interesting to me. And I'll go and order them now and try myself, it looks like a crime not to buy them at such a price ;)
      I wonder whenever you tried their MAGENE S3 + bike computer or maybe you know something else which doesn't cost a fortune and does the job of showing ANT+ sensors?

    • @JourdainColeman
      @JourdainColeman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      connecting these sensors to multiple devices is interesting to me. Let me know how you get on and I may do a video about it in the future to clear things up.
      I've used the sensors with my Garmin 810 which I bought from eBay for £90 - If it's just speed and candace you want and not GPS navigation then there are some cheap cycle computers that you could get for sure.

    • @sensovision
      @sensovision 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JourdainColeman Sure, right now I'm planning to use sensors via ANT+ with my Garmin Vivoactive 4 and also record my route on Wahoo or something else via Bluetooth at the same time, I'll let you know if it goes smoothly or not. Right now I'm doing the same thing with my HRM Dual and it connects simultaneously without any issues using two wireless protocols at the same time.
      In the end I'll wait with bike computer and try to use my old phone instead, it could be more versatile IMHO and at least can give me the idea whenever I need maps and other stuff or should I get something cheap which only displays HR, odometer, speed, and cadence.
      And getting 810 for £90 is a great deal! I wouldn't resist of this one myself :)

    Hi, great review.. very informative. Once you have connected these to you bike computer, do you have to do this connected process on every ride or do they auto connect once set up? Tvm

    • @JourdainColeman
      @JourdainColeman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Chris, thanks for your comment. Apologies about the delayed reply.
      Once you have them connected they should connect automatically each time the device is turned on. That's wheat happens for me and my Garmin 800. If you connect then to something else such a zwift and then go back to your cycle computer then that may effect things.
      I hope that helps 👍🏽

    Nice review Jourdain. I'm going to get these I think and get an indoor bike setup too due to lockdown and weather here in Manchester. The price is now £40 for this pack but if you think of what we've all saved with gyms closed. It's worth it. I'll do a review too on my channel once I get them.

    • @JourdainColeman
      @JourdainColeman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Famous James! :)
      It's certainly worth getting some sort of setup for indoor riding, although, from my experience, it's not as fun. So adjust your goals accordingly. You can see my setup here - th-cam.com/video/pWawY0hYr4M/w-d-xo.html&
      It's also worth the money, and as you said, with the gyms being closed it's a great alternative.
      Some people on here have ordered from Ali Express (www.aliexpress.com/item/4001096008233.html) They are much cheaper but have longer delivery times. I've not personally ordered from there and I would assume the shipping is even longer given the global pandemic.
      Either way... all the best with your cycling my friend.

    Big surprise today while testing a pair of these with Apple Iphone and Ipad mini.....
    We could only get one sensor to work at a time because Apple devices do not have the superior ANT+ concurrent sensor capability but only BLE- Bluetooth......and BLE will only work with one sensor.
    However my Android A5 smartphone works perfectly since ANT+ is builtin.
    What i do not understand is how anyone can get ZWIFT to operate on an Apple IPAD while receiving more than one sensor input concurrently since IPADs only have BLE....no ANT+

  • @gtranquilla
    @gtranquilla 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    For those who use these with ZWIFT, WAHOO or equivalent free smartphone apps.....Great! That is an excellent way to explore and use these........But after a full year of using WAHOO app, I wanted to free-up my smartphone and buy a dedicated bike computer. With so much success with MAGENE sensors i opted for the new MAGENE C406 bike computer and am extremely pleased....see next comment....
    CAUTION: Many smartphones do not have the ANT+ concurrent sensor input capability especially none of the Apple smart devices....and only specific Android smartphones have ANT+ ......

    • @gtranquilla
      @gtranquilla 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Magene C406 bike computer requires initial configuration by means of a smartphone app.....Magene Urility but it had an unresolved bug and was taken over by OneLapFit app. But OneLapFit only worked on apple smart devices initially.......(possibly now fixed for Android os devices). The Magene c406 is an incredible value for those who do not depend on a map during their bike ride......but the GPS overlay will appear after the ride by means of Google maps thru other apps such as STRAVA.....

      1. Can this be used in your home - Yes, this can be used on your turbo trainer indoors.
      2. Can you connect with a watch? I don't have a watch so I'm not sure, I would advise contacting Magene to see what they say. (If the watch is compatible with Ant+ or Bluetooth devices then yes. But You would still need an app to track the data, so I'm not sure a watch can do all that's required).

    • @JourdainColeman
      @JourdainColeman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! When recording a ride with Strava the only sensor that you can connect is a heart rate monitor. To record speed and cadence with these sensors you will need something that you can cannot them too. A cycle computer, watch or swift would work.
      Swift can be used on iOS and you can connect the sensory Bluetooth.
      I hope that helps! 👍

    Anyone experienced that the sensor (in speed mode) becomes inaccurate after 50+km/h? Going downhill to test my speed and when it goes 48km/h it suddenly drops to 14-23km/h until you slow down to 40. I'm wondering if there's a fix for it.

    • @JourdainColeman
      @JourdainColeman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! I've not seen this to be honest, although I've never really look at the speed when I'm pushing hard. Hiopefully it's just a random glitch or have you had it multiple times? If you keep having this issue then I'd contact Magene and see what is going on. 👍🏽- Safe riding frined!

    What's the difference between this and a power meter?

    • @JourdainColeman
      @JourdainColeman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, john. The speed and cadence sensors will meassure your speed and your cadence (The amount of times your pedal rotate every minuet). They won't be able to measure your power output (Meassured in Watts).
      The power meter on the other hand will measer your power. it's much easier to train to power.
      On the whole, if you can measure, Speed, Cadence, heart rate and power, you have everythign covered. From that data you can create specific training session.
      Speed and cadence are effected by other factors, such as we hills. So it's hard to compare ride to ride. Power on the other hand is your constant.
      I hope that helps.

      Hey Kaew, from a quick look online I don't think that you can connect speed and cadence sensors to the app. Like Strava, it looks limited to a hear rate monitor. I have not used the app so I can't be 100% sure, but from what I know of apps that track cycling most of them (apart from Zwift) don't allow speed and cadence sensor to be connected. 🚴🏼‍♀️

      Hey! Thanks for commenting. With Strava the only thing that you can connect is a heart rate monitor. There is no way to connect speed and cadence sensors.
      If you would like to record speed and cadence on your rides you will need a specific device. This could be a cycle computer or watch fro example.
