Rick - I’m glad I decided to look at RSD before pulling the trigger at diode. I’ll be putting in an order in just a second!! You sold me. I was about to get the SS3 sport series for the cheaper price but the cyber Monday PRO price with you guys is amazing. Thank you. And I needed an install video and this is more than enough. Amazing. Been a supporter since my 15 wrx and now my wife’s 18’ XV 🙂
Looking to upgrade fogs on my 2020 Tundra but concerned about not having the proper current draw and if resistors need to be wired in. Amber looks sweet . Diode Dynamics is the only vendor I use for my LEDs.
I don't think it would be an issue at all unless the computer is specifically looking for a certain draw. These draw 36 watts, and I think your stock bulbs will be around 50 watts, so it's possible it could cause an issue, but it might be best to see what other people are doing when they install LED's and see how they get around the issue. A resistor would always work, but perhaps there is a more elegant way? Thanks, Rick
We actually have the sport ambers on there right now(what you see in the video), and the clears in the video are the pro. I legit did not know this until after I shot and edited the video, but I'm anxious to get my hands on the amber pro's, but even the sports are amazingly bright, it's almost silly. Thanks! Rick
@@rallysportdirect thanks for the reply bro , if possible could you do a comparison between the (old) 6 inch diode dynamic stage series pods vs these new diode dynamics sport pods (driving beam pattern) Thanks in advance
How are they for driving around the city? I have Baja's and they're way too bright for anything but trails (overpowers my morimoto hid retrofit). Had to disable SRF or people would be flashing me. Picked up a set of morimoto xb but haven't installed them yet.
Thank you! And they are the Diode Dynamics Low beams found here: www.rallysportdirect.com/part/led-lighting/dd0217p-diode-dynamics-h11-sl1-led-low-beam-led-headlight-bulbs I have not changed out the high beams yet, but I might be doing that soon. :) Thanks, Rick
Never got to see the yellow output! Is like, you are only concentrating in showing how "stylish" they look". I really wanted to see the real life spread of the ss3 fog yellows.
I would probably run the white lights as previous experience with PIAA yellow fog lights has proven to me that while they look cool on the vehicle, they actually make visibility worse due to the yellow hue color shifting everything and reducing contrast. I wish you had done a side-by-side wall test between the white and yellow to show not only if there was a brightness difference, but also how well the yellow lights actually let you see what's in front of you. The yellow wave length is supposed to be reflected back at you less in fog than white light, but from my experience they really only help other drivers see you better rather than helping you to see better.
Hear in my area in northern Canada Yellow is my choice; why I feel it does not reflect the light as much back at me in snow, fog, and the rain mist. You have to try both types in your area under your conditions and see what feels most comfortable for you. As always play safe from Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada.
Amber for fogs. The color contrast is better for seeing and being seen in poor visibility conditions. I actually prefer an amber beam that's more orange than yellow. Fog beams should be mounted/aimed low and wide. Clear is for driving pencil or offroading flood beams. They can be mounted higher than fogs.
Amber does give Subies more of that really look and that's probably why they are so popular , I have some basic yellow LED installed in original fog light assembly right now ( mod on a budget) and the look is nice but there is almost 0 functionality since assembly is designed with reflectors for halogen bulbs. So that is definitely a future upgrade that I would want to do is to install an actual LED assembly instead of just bulbs to improve performance of the light.
Sorry for the late reply. Just found your channel :) I am looking for direct Amber replacements for my 2021 Crosstrek Limited. The link about doesn't work (out of stock maybe) Can I get the info on what I need for my Xtrek please? And do they use the same switch up on the blinker column to turn on/off? Thanks
Hi, I would like to know if when I replace my fog lights with this, will it remove the DRL? I am running Crosstrek 2018 base model which is the DRL is directed to fog lights. Thank you for your feedback in advance.
I just put the baja designs on my frs. I am disappointed with the beam pattern, they were bought to use as fog lights yet they would not work as such since the pattern is so tall.
