I used this on a small field that I had pounded many times. I did find a couple of small nonferrous targets that I had missed, but I was also having to deal with a lot of false high tones from iron--much more than I'm used to when running SensFT, General or Tekkna. Most of the time, the falsing did go away on a cross swing, so I knew that the target was iron. But I spent a lot of extra time having to make that judgement. Thanks for the feedback Neil. As the program is very open have to rely more on the audio to tell you what’s good and what’s not. It takes some practise but it will be worth it buddy 👍👍
Tried this programme yesterday for the first time. I found my first hammered and a cannon ball and I have tried this field a few times before. Could just be a coincidence but first impression it's a quite a noisy programme but you can identify a lot of signals
Oh wow, congratulations buddy! Sounds like you had a good day. Legacy lets you hear everything (except ground noise) and lets you decide what to dig. Maybe it was a combination of the user and program working in harmony 👍👍
We found from testing across lots of different sites that 1.9 was the best all round at eliminating ground noise while letting iron still come through. Tone 2 (197hz) takes care of the iron. It was a long process making this one but the outcome was a very powerful program. Let me know how you get on 👍👍
Hi mate I tried your program on the beach it had mixed results pound coins at 6inchs were a bit scratchy on a 96 sensitivity still continuing to try different adjustments to get that sweet spot for my local beach
Thanks Sean. The problem with modern coinage is the amount of mixed metals in them, especially ferrous metal. The program will instantly know if it’s not a base metal and make it sound scratchy. It’s basically looking for the solid copper, silver etc. thanks for the update 👍👍
Ok just put this program onto my D2. Going on soon to a place I've done a lot recently with not much luck. Will be quick to find out if it's got an edge over the default programs - I'll be back with an update!

@@williampaxton871 frequency max at 24khz will not miss gold rings. I have found gold rings on 14khz. Very fine gold chains perhaps however you would struggle with those at 40khz. I guess it all depends on what you want find versus what you don’t 👍👍
Ok. Been thinking about it... Maybe you in Legacy have a form of 2, two, Discr features? Discr 1.9 and iron volume zero, and volume zero, which will silence everything up to 1.9. Tone break no2 at 34 set to low hz (I would use 100hz) and volume at 10! Then you create another Discr level for iron grunt up to 34. Not a bad idea! Will have a test around this. The 1.9 and iron vol zero maybe calms the ground a bit? Thanks for thoughts! 🇸🇪🙏
I like how your mind works! So yes the legacy program bypasses the conventional “discrimination” and uses the tones. Technically you are correct, discrimination is simply adjusting your first tone break “the iron break”. Legacy lets iron come through (tone 2) and tone 1 is simply ground noise which is muted. If you adjusted discrimination all you are effectively doing is moving the first tone break up and down. Hope this helps 👍👍
@@OMA_MetalDetecting. This requires 1.1 or 2.0 as you have the separate volume control of every tone break. I am on 0.71 but your technique make me think of upgrading to 1.1 ... Separate volume control is essential. 😁🙏👨🦯
in clean ground like your fields why dont you use reactivity 1 or 1,5 or 2 to gain some depth by lowering it instead of 3.just wondering.except from this your program looks good
Although a low reactivity will get you better depth in clean ground you will compromise in recovery speed. My swing speed suits a more middle of the road reactivity which still goes very deep 👍
Another question for you. My two buddies both are using the Legacy program and have noticed a large drop off in nickels. is this typical of the program and can it be compensated for? Bill
@@williampaxton871 hey Bill. Tell them if they put the b.cap discrim on zero they should find them again. B.Cap can have an adverse effect on shiny coins 👍👍
Hi mate! Watch the video on my channel where I put the forager program into the WS6 but obviously use the legacy program values. I’ll do a video next week on the ws6 input settings but it’s the same principle as forager just different settings 👍👍
So everything from tid 2 and upper should have the 2nd tone... very strange. Can't understand any benefit of it. Why just not to use SFT program with disc 3-6
@@hihikalo unlike sensitive FT, legacy bypasses the conventional discrimination in favour of precise tone breaks aimed at giving you far better audio information which can aide you in target separation. It does this by boosting the audio of ferrous making it stand out however, it will sound very different to high conductors. It is very different to sensitive FT and the performance is much better in our testing 👍👍
Is Tone 4 correct at 74? Can change the other settings for tone 4 but my controller will not allow me to increase or decrease it. Under programme 2 Sensitive, tone has no digits on the factory setting and will not permit increase or decrease.
@@gordondunbar2017 yes tone 4 is correct at 74. When you program the tones the last segment is preset because anything 74 and over is tone 4. Essentially putting the third tone segment to 74 means that anything over that is tone 4. Think of it as segments rather than tones as such. You will notice you cannot change the 74 but you can assign a volume etc to it 👍👍
I've seen this video a few times but I couldn't install it on my detector because I was on v0.7 so I updated it to 1.1 and tried it on the beach. Within 45 minutes in a small area I found £1-90,ear ring, button and a gold chain. Yes I did well BUT I have a few questions. I buried a 2p about 6" down and I couldn't pick it up on 96 sensitivity but it was clear on 99 sensitivity. Also does the machine chatter all the time as it was like walking over a iron plate as it grunts constantly till it comes to a target.
@@jazzy200971 firstly, great job on your finds! The issue you were having with the 2p is likely because of two things, check your mineralisation bar as if it is jumping around it will affect your performance hugely. Next time your on the beach put bottle cap discrim on 0 and that will help modern coins sing through without increasing sensitivity.
@@OMA_MetalDetecting I will try that today. So is the constant chatter normal then for the beach as this beach is full of iron and coke. I must add tho amongst the iron chatter I got a slight nice signal so I dug it and it was a 1p encrusted in iron which I probably would of dismissed on another program.....that was the only bit of iron I dug. I'm busting to try it on land but il need a jackhammer to dig a hole as the soil is like concrete at the moment. Also while swinging the numbers were staying around 25 till I got a good signal.
@@jazzy200971 I wouldn’t say it’s normal. When I run it on land it is usually really stable but of course some sand conditions are very mineralised which will give the constant chatter. Change the silencer up and down until it goes stable and don’t forget to do a frequency scan 👍
@@OMA_MetalDetecting I managed to try out your legacy program again and on dry sand it's fine but as soon as you go onto anything wet it grunts constantly and changing the silencer, frequency scan doesn't help...I still found £6-95p. After the beach I managed to try it out on a small park I have local permission on and yes I still dug can slew, bottle tops, ring pulls, cans but I walked away about £19 richer and the program was stable on land. Maybe the legacy is a beach program but for dry sand only as wet sand it is just noisy...could be my beach tho so won't know till Sunday when I detect another beach.
@@jessestone3915 that’s a long video Jesse lol. In a nutshell shell, forager is a safer program that’s still sharp and definitely a useful tool in the box but legacy doesn’t discriminate anything above the ferrous range so lets you hear the ground more giving you more details about the ground 👍👍
@@martenpost3431 firstly make sure you have inputted the settings correctly. It is normal for the program to have some ground noise but it could also be that your hearing coke. The coke notch is removed but feel free to add one in somewhere between 23-33 and that should fix it. Not all places will be that noisy though. I think your mineralisation bar will be moving around abit which will prove it is likely coke that is causing it 👍
I loaded this program to try on the beach today. I tried all I could. The background noise was so load I had to stop using it. I reduced the sensitivity, the reactivity. It was unusable. Suggestions would be appreciated please
@@6349cf hi Cliff, this should be easily fixed by raising the discrimination up one by one until the machine start to be quiet. Some beaches are very mineralised so this adjustment will be crucial to maximise your performance 👍
@@6349cf just remember whatever you change not to save over legacy as this is site specific. Adjust each site from the base settings as you would with any program. Good luck
I went back to the beach & turned it on. Quiet as a mouse. I found £4 , a ring(junk) and an earring. That was on the dry pebbles. I took it to the wet pebbles , it went nuts again. I adjusted the discrimination as you suggested. I had to take it up to 46 before it would settle, but it worked. I now need to get rid of bottle tops . I will adjust that to 4/5 Thanks again for your help Regards Cliff from Brighton beach
@@6349cf the next time you use it, start at 1.9 discrimination but before increasing it put silencer on 1 but definitely no more than 1. Then adjust the discrimination up by one at a time and you should see it settle before 46 this time. @@ESIOPESSOA technically the program will work with any base program however the features demonstrated are untested on all except Sensative. Give it a go and see how it goes 👍
Having bottle cap discrim won’t really effect the performance of the program however allot of people in the states will turn it off because with it on can reject shiny objects like modern coins etc. I have it on two simply to eliminate miss shaped iron but there is no harm in tweaking it to your ground 👍👍
@@DianTomov_ST_Dupont_Lighters the Legacy program bypasses the conventional iron volume in favour of a tone break. Iron volume usually changes the volume of tone break 1 up and down whereas this program uses ground noise for tone break 1 and iron is on 2 👍

I programmed Forager into the puck for my previous dig and it was absolutely awesome. I swear the audio level was increasing the closer I hovered over the target. I have just put this into the puck for tomorrow. Only thing I cannot find on the puck is to set the volume levels via the Equaliser ... I "think" they are all latched ? So I have set it at 5. Please correct me if I am wrong and I will try and find another video that better explains the Equaliser on the master. Once again, I really appreciate all that you do for the hobby. While I am myself very new to detecting (although do have an RF background), I find it better to follow the changes to the default program on which the custom program is based while listening /comparing both programs on the same target. If that makes sense ;) Best wishes from north yorks
Hi Steve! Thank you for your message and kind comments. There is a video on my channel to program Forager onto the WS6 puck and I demonstrate how to change the equaliser Db values. If you watch that video it should show you what you need to do on yours for Legacy. Let me know how you get on 👍👍
@@OMA_MetalDetecting - dB settings done fine - just realised I attributed the volume question to Equaliser and NOT within the Tones area, my apols. Eg 1st TB @1.9, 211Hz but unsure how to set the Volume to zero and of course subsequent volumes for TB2, 3 and 4.
@@CosmicDigs got ya! So you will need to make sure you are on either 1.1 or 2.0 or you won’t have the option to change the volume of each tone. If you are on one of those then you simply get to the volume by pressing the menu button again as you scroll through the tones 👍
Michael, I gave the Legacy 8 hours today on a mix of pasture and stubble. Also compared it against your Forager and the base setting 1-General. You are correct, it really does pick up all conductors but, in a nice way. Previously I tried Magnet which I liked but it was too chatty on some of the ground I detect on but, the Legacy just "purred", it was not over chatty at all and I even raised the sensitivity to 97 and at one stage it was holding its own on 98. Eleccy fence did cause some issues (as it would on most multi-frequency modes). 20m away it was fine .... does pick up a Manticore though (so does most other XP settings lol). Again, 20m away and that subsided. I have made a list of custom programs and settings I wish to try out thanks to this group but I will be honest, of the four I have tried so far, this is an absolute keeper - but ears are key. Todays finds included - a complete mix ... tinfoil, lead, a few coins, couple of cartridges including a .303 .... unsure on a lot of items though. All in all, I enjoyed Forager but this is like Forager on steroids 😉 Oh, I have made one small change and went from PWM to Square. Also, prob me missing something, but cannot seem to get "large numbers" on the WS6 puck with this. I will wait for your WS6 video coming out. Thanks again Michael 🙂
As a artifact/relic hunter unfortunately this program would not help much. Imagine how many barrel hoop arrows and iron spears not to mention a possible lance one could miss.train your ears to distinguish from modern iron sounds and learn the sound of blacksmith hand worked iron and you’ll be leaving the field with Viking axe heads and much more 😊
You could easily fix that if you want to find iron targets. Just change the second tone break to something like 437hz or, press the G.B button once and you will enter all metal mode. Thanks for your comment 👍
@@ESIOPESSOA in a way that is good because it’s picking everything up. It’s better suited for deep detecting so if you try it side by side on one of those it will shine 👍👍

@@StevieMoore-q3c in some ground conditions 9 inches is very deep especially for small targets. IT also sounded off nicely with some broken shotgun cartridges. Went back to my other modes and found 20 musket balls, buckles etc :) - Not for me, but maybe others will be good
Thanks for the feedback Neil. As the program is very open have to rely more on the audio to tell you what’s good and what’s not. It takes some practise but it will be worth it buddy 👍👍
Thank you, I've programmed this in my Deus 2 and will test it this week
I don't use a Deus, but I find the technical info interesting non the less. Some nice treasure revealed with that machine for sure.
Thanks Fred, I appreciate your support buddy 👍👍
Just set the D2 up with this programme, looking forward to trying it , thanks Michael.
Michael looks good program will try next time I go detecting all the best
Thanks Bobby. Let me know how you get on 👍👍
Tried this programme yesterday for the first time.
Hi my friend from Portugal, oporto, thks for the Legacy, yes it was very nice program, thks
Hi buddy! Glad you enjoy legacy and I hope it brings you good luck 👍👍
Isto é bom para apanhar chouriços
I will try it out, 1.9 Desc. Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Used this on a dig where fields were very quiet, managed a hammered coin, crotal bell and shell fuse cone first time out with this program.
Awesome John, that’s great to hear! Sounds like you had a great day. Thanks for letting me know 👍👍
Ok just put this program onto my D2. Going on soon to a place I've done a lot recently with not much luck. Will be quick to find out if it's got an edge over the default programs - I'll be back with an update!

Hi Michael, thanks again for all your efforts. I will be putting this program in. Q, in what situations would I use this over the Forager 2? Thanks 🎉
Great question Jase! So this one would be much better on sites where you know there are good things to be found as it misses nothing. It will be a little more noisy than forager but when you master it you won’t miss a thing guaranteed mate 👍👍
@OMA_MetalDetecting , nice one, I have it loaded, just need to get out there again, the ground has been like concrete lol

Good day Very nice video. Tell me on the basis of which factory program did you create your Legacy?
@@Oleksandr84 legacy uses program 2 (sensitive) as the base. Thanks watching 👍👍
How is this program on small gold? Quite ingenious but with the lower frequency will you miss gold rings at the beach for example?
@@williampaxton871 frequency max at 24khz will not miss gold rings. I have found gold rings on 14khz. Very fine gold chains perhaps however you would struggle with those at 40khz. I guess it all depends on what you want find versus what you don’t 👍👍
Thank you for getting back to my question. I'm going to give your program a try!
I am on 0.71 but your technique make me think of upgrading to 1.1 ...

in clean ground like your fields why dont you use reactivity 1 or 1,5 or 2 to gain some depth by lowering it instead of 3.just wondering.except from this your program looks good
Although a low reactivity will get you better depth in clean ground you will compromise in recovery speed. My swing speed suits a more middle of the road reactivity which still goes very deep 👍
Thanks programmed in fingers crossed lol 👍👍

So everything from tid 2 and upper should have the 2nd tone... very strange. Can't understand any benefit of it.
Why just not to use SFT program with disc 3-6
@@hihikalo unlike sensitive FT, legacy bypasses the conventional discrimination in favour of precise tone breaks aimed at giving you far better audio information which can aide you in target separation. It does this by boosting the audio of ferrous making it stand out however, it will sound very different to high conductors. It is very different to sensitive FT and the performance is much better in our testing 👍👍
Will this work on V 2.0 ok?
Yep this will work on 2.0 firmware 👍👍
Is Tone 4 correct at 74? Can change the other settings for tone 4 but my controller will not allow me to increase or decrease it. Under programme 2 Sensitive, tone has no digits on the factory setting and will not permit increase or decrease.
@@gordondunbar2017 yes tone 4 is correct at 74. When you program the tones the last segment is preset because anything 74 and over is tone 4. Essentially putting the third tone segment to 74 means that anything over that is tone 4. Think of it as segments rather than tones as such. You will notice you cannot change the 74 but you can assign a volume etc to it 👍👍
If ground balance should not be done, what value should it be set at? 0?
This a better replacement for the forager program . be good to have a video on why the changes for each adjustment as a teaching curve
Hello, I have a lot of false sounds. Looks like EMI but isn't. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong?
@@martenpost3431 firstly make sure you have inputted the settings correctly. It is normal for the program to have some ground noise but it could also be that your hearing coke. The coke notch is removed but feel free to add one in somewhere between 23-33 and that should fix it.
Not all places will be that noisy though. I think your mineralisation bar will be moving around abit which will prove it is likely coke that is causing it 👍
I’ll try; thanks! 👍
@@OMA_MetalDetecting l will give it a try later. The program was spot on at home

I will adjust that to 4/5
Thanks again for your help
Regards Cliff from Brighton beach
@@6349cf the next time you use it, start at 1.9 discrimination but before increasing it put silencer on 1 but definitely no more than 1. Then adjust the discrimination up by one at a time and you should see it settle before 46 this time. Wet sand and pebbles can be very noisy so these things should give you the right steps to manage those areas. ATB 👍👍

michael, some people are turning b caps back to 0, what do you think
Having bottle cap discrim won’t really effect the performance of the program however allot of people in the states will turn it off because with it on can reject shiny objects like modern coins etc. I have it on two simply to eliminate miss shaped iron but there is no harm in tweaking it to your ground 👍👍

If that makes sense ;)
Best wishes from north yorks
@@OMA_MetalDetecting - Thank you so much, that worked a treat :)
All in all, I enjoyed Forager but this is like Forager on steroids 😉
Oh, I have made one small change and went from PWM to Square.
This legacy program on the beach is not better than the detector's predefined programs.
@@ESIOPESSOA in a way that is good because it’s picking everything up. It’s better suited for deep detecting so if you try it side by side on one of those it will shine 👍👍
come on man ..9 inches is not deep for a modern expensive detector .. i have the deues 2 and the minelab ctx 3030 and the mindlab 800 .. still think the deus2 is a expensive second choice .to the 800 no where near the ctx for depth or target ID ... i love the build of the deus2 lightish and no cables love the control box but it fails with the Iron falsing . maybe if deus ever get to grips with a proper Iron knock out in a update. then my views WILL change . i have been using it for two and bit years now and still think the minelab tech is for more advanced when it comes to depth and Target Id .. this is not a knock on the machine it is a comparison and there will be those who only use one machine all their days .. i have no loyalty to any one company or machine .. but i still not convinced that the deus2 is worth the price tag . this machine struggles with Iron and if Iron is near a none ferrous target or if iron has a round edge the deus 2 will pick up the iron and it struggles to ID the none Iron target ... unless you have a video for that. to sort out that. .. but Iron nails with a round head will sound iron and none iron and if a coin is next to that you will just walk over it .. on the ctx you would not hear the iron just the good target .. if you noch out coke you will lose those small hammered coins in the uk .. coke comes in 25/30ish so do hammerd coins .. far to much EMI with the deus2 .. and that can be a huge issue i do not get with a minelab machine ... so i am not convinced that deus 2 is finding those targets that my other machines have not picked up .. and the depth is just a myth sorry to say ...
@@StevieMoore-q3c in some ground conditions 9 inches is very deep especially for small targets. Our testing has proved that with the legacy program the Deus 2 can go much deeper but varying factors can either increase or decrease that.
