Nicolas Economou (Greek: Νικόλας Οικονόμου; 11 August 1953 - 29 December 1993) was a Cypriot composer and pianist born in Nicosia, Cyprus. A precociously gifted pianist, Economou came to international attention at the 1969 Tchaikovsky Competition when he was 16. After studying at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow he eventually moved via Düsseldorf to Munich. From his base there he established himself throughout Europe as a concert pianist, composer, arranger, conductor and organiser of music festivals. In December 1993 Economou was killed in an automobile accident in Cyprus while driving at night in thick fog. - เพลง
Everything Nicholas played, he played better than anyone else and this fabulous Kreislerana is extraordinary. Had he not died young, he would be today be the last stone in the Pyramid.
He was so passionate! One of my favorite pianists of all times... I'm so sad everytime I remember he's no longer among us. Thank you so much for posting and keeping his memory alive!

An enigmatic interpretation of an enigmatical work. A computational metronome, tracking the oscillations between rationality and irrationality: momentous, intimate and deeply paradoxical. A remarkable performance... 27:08 ... always haunting... and undeniably inspired.
Sadly its looks like he doesnt get the recognition he supposed to get. Horowitz' Kreisleriana is great. But in my opinion this one is the greatest one I ve heard yet.

vi um recital a muitos anos pela tv, fiquei acordado para poder gravar em fita de video cassete, que hoje em dia nao se usa mais, agora vendo pelo TH-cam, estou maravilhado e relembrando aquela noite, e lamentavel o que aconteceu, pianista nota 1000 mil, obrigado por postar varios videos .
Una de las versiones mas fabulosas de esta obra (tremenda) de Schumann.
Fantástico! Nicolas Economou fue un gran pianista nacido en Chipre en 1953. Estaba llamado a ser en uno de los que deberían ocupar los puestos más altos en su tiempo. Desgraciadamente murió en un accidente de automóvil, en su país en 1993, mientras conducía en una noche de espesa niebla. Una lástima

Mit solchen besessene Pathos habe ich das letztes Stück (das Thema "Mit aller Kraft") von Kreisleriana von keinen andere Interpretation gehört! Με τέτοιο από οίστρο κατεχόμενο πάθος δεν έχω ακούσει καμία άλλη ερμηνεία του τελευταίου κομματιού (το θέμα "Με όλη τη δύναμη") της Κραϊσλεριάνας!

Great technical command of the piano but it came with unstable rhythmic episodes in a way that made a huge distortion for the whole piece as well as the composer intentions. maybe that was the fashion at that time but there are many great interpretations for Kreiserliana and this one in here is not one of them.
Rhythmically he is all at sea.
I play this work... I could follow him very very well... his rubato is exquisite...
