    Hi Brad, thanks for these fantastic vidoes. I wonder if you can help point me in the right direction, maybe you have a video that explains. I am trying to create an outlione effect, like you have done @ 10:47 in this video. I want to create this type of effects, when I am doing some of my videos. I have tried searching around, but I dont really know if I am looking for outlines tools, masks, or what it is. It seems a basic tutorial effect and its something I would really like to understand. I would be super grateful if you can help a little. Thanks alot. * Subscribed * Regards, Colin.

      @@Brad_West amazing thank you. It’s something I see so many videos, but I struggle to find anyone that covers such a skill. As I learn the art of editing and creation, I know what I want to do, but it’s trying to figure out, how to achieve some of these special effects. Thanks for taking the time to reply, and if you can create a simple to follow tutorial I would be happy to contribute to your time making the video. Thanks a lot. Colin.

    Hello Brad, first thank you for videos. My question is the following. I can add a voice over to my video. The language is Indonesian. For my family in Holland I like to add dutch subs. Do you know of a way without typing the subs. I think of dictating or, if possible, a direct translation Indonesian into Dutch. Pls advice, thank you. Frans, Bali 🙏😀

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could probably use mCaptions from MotionVFX to generate the captions, then export an SRT file which you can then translate using Google Translate or ChatGPT and then you can import that back into FCP.
      I did a video on mCaptions recently (not of that exact workflow) but you’ll be able to see it in action. Hope that helps!

    Excellent video thanks. With the colour changing what do you do if there is an odd shape though, like if the girl in video had a low cut top on and arms showing, the round/oval mask used for face wouldn't work? I am new to FCP BTW!

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Matt! In that case you would probably need to duplicate the clip on top of itself, change the color first and then add a draw mask effect to draw your mask around that odd shape. Then you would need to keyframe the mask to remove that odd shape. Hope that helps!

    Hi Brad. In Final Cut Pro, can a transition effect placed at the top of a timeline with many stacked layers affect all the layers "properly" underneath it? Is there a way to do this (other than using a compound clip) (like in Premiere Pro)?

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No unfortunately it won't work properly. if you added it to an adjustment layer or something like that. Compound clips are the way to go in most cases.

      As a content creator, who makes videos for people to watch for free, I have to also earn a living. Sponsored ads are one of the ways that help me feed my family and put a roof over my head. Think about it.

      @@Brad_West so as do I but I’m not greedy

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Gentlemans_sportcalling Brad “greedy” shows just how little you understand of the TH-cam economy.
      On average, a Final Cut Pro creator makes around $8 for every 1,000 views. That means, even if a video does crazy well and hits 10,000 views, he would get $80.
      Let’s say Brad creates 4 videos in a month that preform outrageously well. All 4 get 10k views.. well now he’s walking away with an astounding $320 for an entire month! Then he needs to pay taxes on top of that.
      So let’s say on average Brad is putting in 20 hours per video, including research, thumbnail creation, writing, filming and of course editing. That comes out to an astounding $4 an hour! (Without even paying taxes yet). Dont spend it all in one place Brad you greedy little man!
      So Brad can either choose to just NOT make videos at all which help people like yourself create better videos (and who also don’t even seem to appreciate how much effort that takes.)
      Or he can choose to subsidize that money with a 30 second sponsored segment in his video that you can easily skip so that he can make these videos free for you to consume, regardless of if you have premium, and he can continue to pay his families bills.
      If anyone here is greedy, it’s you. For wanting him to make these incredibly well produced videos, packed with information, for absolute pennies.
      Maybe consider that next time you call a creator greedy.

      Calling Brad greedy just shows how little you understand the TH-cam economy.
      The average FCP TH-cam channel makes $8 for every 1,000 views. If Brad makes a video that does ridiculously well and gets 10,000 views, that means he’s walking away with $80 whole dollars.
      Let’s say he makes 4 absolute banger videos that get 10k views each over the next month. My man is walking away with an astounding $320!! Minus tax.
      Let’s figure Brad spends around 20 hours per video, with research, thumbnail design, writing, filming and editing. That means Brad is making a whopping $4 an hour (minus tax)! Don’t spend it all in one place Brad you greedy little man.
      Brad can either choose to completely stop making videos, that are free for you to watch, regardless of the fact of whether or not you’re a premium subscriber… Or he can subsidize the costs of running a channel, and taking care of his family, by taking on a sponsored segment that lasts 30 seconds, that you can easily skip with the click of a button.
      If anyone’s greedy here, it’s you. For wanting Brad to make these highly polished, well thought out videos for actual pennies. While you have the audacity to call him greedy. Think about it.
