- In this video I start off by tackling some interior work. First I busted out the old wood in the transom and replaced with closed cell foam and glassed it in. Next false floors were added as well as front and rear casting decks. Next I brushed on some paint and then took a trip to Gheenoe to get new rub rails, nose cap, and transom backing. I also restored my trailer and added sea deck I hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching and always like, comment, and subscribe. Look out for my next video when I take this beaut for a spin and catch some fish!

Alex, thank you so much! A friend and I as kids, inherited a neighbor’s Gheenoe (Lakeland) after his days of fishing were behind him. (No motor, but trolling motor included. No battery. Can’t have everything)
We wanted a platform forward and aft. Our first mistake was asking both our dad’s for help. Both were Engineers. By the time they were done, the weight of the Gheenoe was doubled.
I now have a 2nd Gheenoe 20 years later, and have wanted to put in a couple platforms, battery hatches and small dry storage compartment. This video is a huge help! If there wasn’t a 3 years waiting list, I’d just buy an LT-25. This is going to be a great Winter Garage project. Thanks again!
Thanks for the kind words and good luck on your project!
Nice one of the best videos I have seen on rebuilding a 15.4 HS my headache is just beginning on my rebuild and this video really helped nice job
Nice work. Looking to start rebuilding my gheenoe soon.
Thanks man And good luck on it!
Hey what did you use to attach the foam to the gheenoe walls. Great job btw!
Bro . This is fire!!! Do u have a parts list?
Killer job man! One of the better gheenoe casting deck vids for sure! Looks sick. How is she holding up? About how much fiberglass did this take? Trying to price it out for doing one.
It’s holding up great! I used about 10 yards each of 1708 biaxial fiberglass and chop strand. The fiberglass alone was about 150 not counting the resin or hardener
@@alx2456 thanks for the info! Glad it’s doing good, def looks good. How much resin and hardener do you think I should order?
@@nickeubanks7675 get a gallon of resin and 4 oz. of MEKP hardener will run you about 70 bucks
@@alx2456 you’re the man bro keep up the good work 🤘🏼
Im in Titusville and about to buy a gheenoe. Do you guys still do mods to them? Would love to bring mine
Did you use foam boards for the floor? And then rely on the fiberglass to be strong enough alone??
I cut pvc pipe in half long ways and used them as stringers fiber glasses in. Then on the foam one layer of chop strand and one layer or 1708 biaxial. Then I painted with epoxy based paint. Then sea deck to finish it off. It’s hard as a rock.
Did you just use epoxy to attach the foam to the walls?
Where did you get the nose cap ? Great job btw
It’s from the Gheenoe factory in Titusville FL but I think you can buy them on their website as well
How did you attach the support straps on the front platform?
The support beams are fiberglassed in with 2 layers. 1st is chop strand and second is 1708!
With the front deck hold you’re weight while standing on it ?
New to a gheenoe what does the false floor do?
It’s makes the floor flat like a flats boat. Gheenoe’s come with a rigid floor the slants inward
Awesome job but if you want to get a good measurement I would recommend not curving the ruler
Did the glass not eat the foam?
No because it’s closed cell foam the fiberglass just creates extra layers for hardness
Where did you get the railing
You have to get them from the Gheenoe factory or their website
Hey bro what size and what kind of stuff did you use for the floor?
It’s closed cell foam 1 inch thick with 1 layer or chop strand and one layer of 1708 biaxial then painted it with an epoxy based paint. It’s a cheaper way than using star board and better than wood that will eventually deteriorate
Is that deck made of foam also?
How much does that foam shit cost? You get it from fl fiberglass?
I think it’s $60 for an 8ft x 4ft sheet and yea fiberglass Florida is where I got it.
@@alx2456 thanks brotha
Where did you get your closed cell foam?
Fiberglass Florida but your local fiberglass shop should carry it
@@alx2456 it doesn’t appear I have one near me. What thickness did you go with?
How did you get rub rails on
Really easy just use pop rivets
@@alx2456 did the rub rails actually come with holes or did you measure them up and drill them yourself because I just got brand new rub rails and they don’t have pre drilled holes so deciding what I shall do
@@noahtoadvine9389 no they don’t come with holes. Just slide the rub rails on and drill one hole and put the rivet in and work your way down. I think it’s a 7/16 drill bit. They gave me rivets with the rub rails so use half for each side and the bigger rivets go through the nose cap
@@alx2456 sounds good Thankyou very much that will be today’s project,
So you drilled new holes through the fiber glass not through the existing ones right
@@noahtoadvine9389 yea I drilled new ones because it’s hard to find the old ones when u get the new rub rails on
what is "closed cell foam"? Does it have another name, where can I buy it?
It’s called AIR-CELL T-60 I got mine from fiberglass Florida but check ur local fiberglass shop.
Good job. I am working on a build myself. You can check it out.
What kind of paint did you use?
Diamond tuff from Fiberglass Florida
