    Hi, this video is helpful but I'm struggling to map territories. What I want to do is show a shop location in a different colour to the postcodes they control. e.g. shops physical location is X1 they can take jobs from X2,3,4 and 5 so i want X1 to be red and the rest to be green is that possible?

      Yeah it’s possible but you would need a table that has all the zip codes that a shop can deliver to and then you would add the zip code of the delivery locations to the “Legend”. Pull a random column into the legend field. You will see what I mean.

    Hi Thanks for the video. I have the 5 digit US zip codes. However, Power BI is not recognizing them. I don't know why.

      Hi Abhijit! Thanks for reaching out & supporting the channel! A few & double checks I would recommend.
      1. Make sure WiFi is enabled - Power BI Maps need Wifi to display visuals.
      2. Zip Code Format Type - In the Power BI Query Editor make sure the format type is set to "Whole Number". This is depicted in the column header and will show "123" as the icon.
      3. Map Type - lastly, make sure the "Map" is selected in the Visualization Pane. There are 2 map options: "Map" & "State Map". Only "Map" will display zip codes. This is the one that looks like a globe.
      Did this work for you? Let me know :)

    Can we do a map with area codes for phone call record reporting?

    • @joezeplin
      @joezeplin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! Not to my knowledge but I would look online for a data table that includes area codes for phone numbers and their corresponding zip code and then use a lookup function or a relationship. Hope this helps!

    I have zipcodes that start with a zero, but Power BI removes it from my chart. How do I change that so states with a zero as the first number show up on my map?

    • @joezeplin
      @joezeplin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Kim! Power BI changes the column type to be a “Whole Number”. In the query editor, you can look at the right side where it says “change type”. And set the zip code column to be “Text”instead. Hope this helps!

      Hi Joe, how does PBI recognize your zip codes as US zip codes? My zip codes are German ones, but in the map they're all over the place. Thank you!

      Hey kmz 1984! Thanks for watching & that's a really great question! You want to first make sure that your column type is test to "Text". For U.S. zip codes most of the zip codes in the north east start with a "0" so if you set the format as text it will keep the 0, if it by defaults sets to a number column, it will remove the zero & not work. I hope this helps! Let me know - Joe!
