    Finally saw Lincoln which got me here. Doris, I need another book on my must read list like I need a toothache but I simply have to read Team of Rivals soon. Thanks for nothing. Stephen and Tony, you may disagree, but I think this movie is your crowing achievement. And that's saying a lot. And Tim, fan here from back in the day. You look great and sound better. Interviewing these 3 is great work if you can get it. Great job bringing out their best. Yours in Solidarity,

    When I saw "Tim Reid," I thought of Venus Flytrap from WKRP. Ha ha, I thought - obviously, it's not THAT Tim Reid. Yes, it is! He is the founder and president of Legacy Media Institute, a non-profit organization "dedicated to bringing together leading professionals in the film and television industry, outstanding actors, and young men and women who wish to pursue a career in the entertainment media." I guess was expecting some star-struck middle-aged historian to be moderating. Tim is a wonderful moderator here, well-prepared for this forum.

      This was filmed at the Landmark Theater in Richmond, VA. “Lincoln” was filmed entirely in Richmond and Petersburg, VA. Tim set up the now-closed Millennium Studios near Petersburg, which also worked on “Lincoln.” Tim is a native Virginian, and his wife works for the PBS studio affiliate near Richmond.

    Thanks for this video! It's a beautiful discussion panel box of fine chocolates with Tim Reid tying it all together in a big bow. Delicious! After stepping back from the movie after watching, 'Lincoln', a year ago, I can see the strong characters and intense storyline weaves a fabric of legal structure, political strategy, and historical relevance that reflects the broad vision Lincoln had to maintain to achieve his goals. How enriching are the quite silhouettes the Mrs Kekkley, for example, expressing the voice of various issues. Well done.

    Kudos to Tim Reid, who moderated this panel discussion with elegant understatement. Unlike some TV hosts, he allowed his guests to answer his insightful questions *without interruption.* Perhaps the most poignant moment of the evening was when Mr. Reid asked the authors & film maker what their favourite moments in the film "Lincoln" were. After listening to their various answers, Reid responded to this question by saying that *his* favourite part of the film was the passing of the 13th Amendment.

    Telling the story of the 13th amendment is important. It's the telling of the start of the events that took a century to be fulfilled, through the 14th and 15th amendments to the social justice actions of LB Johnson in the early 1960s

    “A great deal of history and a great deal of respect for the past,” Spielberg said describing Virginia and New England.
    All of that, unfortunately, has been diminished in recent years.

    Many people today do what Lincoln did; they learn to turn their regional accent (southern, Fargo, or others) on and off at will.

    Mr. Kushner best stick to writing. The public speaking isn't working out so well. Goodwin is a national treasure. Wish Spielberg was braver.

      Kearns Goodwin is a planetary treasure. Kushner is very annoying -- all uhs and ums and ers and hand waves.

    • @rsr789
      @rsr789 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tony Kushner has a Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his writing, just because he's not good at public speaking doesn't mean he should be denied doing it...! And clearly you know nothing about Spielberg's career or life, if not you wouldn't have posted something as silly and willfully ignorant as "Wish Spielberg was braver."

    I loved the movie. However, watching the Lisa the Iconoclast over again makes think little of what Doris Kearns Goodwin. Lisa Simpson proved more dark secrets of Jebidiah Springfield-aka Hans Sprungfeld- long before the second wife of Richard Goodwin wrote her book

    Man I love this movie. What makes me sad is that it's aways these leftist progressives making them. The line that this screenwriter was singing the praises of a bunch of Republicans raising taxes?? And complaining about how poorly the historically significant sites in Petersburg are not being kept up by massive federal spending??? I'm all for preserving historical sites. This guy is a multi multi millionaire. Notice these guys are always willing to spend someone else's money. How about a little intellectual integrity. Get a bunch of your leftist Hollywood millionaire buddies together and finance these things yourself why don't you sir. These people drive me insane...

      Btw, we wouldn't want Richmond to be livin' off no dole ... or it it livin' on the dole? No matter. Let them fix it themselves. Then they'll take kare of it themselves ... as it should be.
