Since I am watching your video, I was able to decrease my piriformis pain. I had for few years, some days the pain was excruciating, and often I felt to hit against a wall, no doctors or chyro or physio or pain management doctors were able to help me. I spent also a lot of money and no improvement. Watching your videos I understood I needed to work on my mind, it was the root cause of my pain. I made some changes in my lifestyle, I started to be more attentive on my movements, on my mood, my food and supplements. It took maybe 2 months to start feeling better, now pain is manageable, some days I am pain free. I know the path is still long, it is necessary to be patient and persevere, keeping notes on what works in good and bad. Mainly it was my mental switch, the straightening exercises and supplements. It took really a lot of trying and error to get the right ones which really work for me. Apart Dr Charlie and a naturopath on YT (who explains the role of glutathione, NAC and natural Apha Lipoic Acid ), all doctors I saw in person did not help me at all. Thank you for your videos.

So happy to hear someone who’s on the complete same page! This is seriously the verbal confirmation I was looking for! I just went to the orthopedic doctor and of course he told me that I need to do 3 epidural injections and prescribed me pain killers and anti inflammatory pills. I was soooo disappointed. I was asking him questions about body mechanics (like why is my lower back straightening at night) and he will get irritated by my questions. I even asked what about if I continue to hold my core tight and not go into those poses that cause my pain. Would the inflammation go down? He said no. I was so sad to hear those answers when I highly believe that what I am doing is Working!
I already refused to take any anti inflammatory pills that the doctors had prescribed. I was saying the same thing! I have a natural alarm THAT IS TELLING ME what MOVES NOT TO DO. My brain was just so confused why would someone want to shut that down. How can I figure out what’s harming me if I shut down that pain! It’s just logic. I have a wound and if I keep messing up w it, it would just get worse! If I leave it alone eventually it will heal.
So I decided to listen to my body instead! I started noticing that if I COMPLETELY STOP doing certain moves (for me it was bending forward and picking things from the floor) and I activate my lower abs slowly I am starting to release the sciatica pain.
2 week ago I had SEVERE sciatica (I could not turn from side to side at night) caused by one bulged and one herniated disc. I was crying every night few times a night. I stoped doing ANYTHING THAT caused that pain and in 10 days my sciatica now it’s gone! Of course I will continue doing the right things as I want to make sure that I won’t be doing endurance activities with muscles imbalances and poor posture. (Which is what I believe is the cause of my herniation)
Besides my pain going down. I really needed to hear the opinion of a specialist that what I strongly believe in actually really works! Thank you for promoting this type of healing! I could not agree more! I wish more people will be aware of this!🙏🏻🙏🏻

Very good analogy of removing the fuel of the fire instead of just pouring water on it…

I'm in the UK. My doctor said I have trapped nerve. I have pain from periformis down the back of my left leg to my knee. I can just walk about 4 steps and I'm in agony. My doctor says it will take time, he also said watch utube and find out good exercise for me. I'm totally lost and alone.

Hey! Sorry to hear... sounds like you're doctors not really sure what to do.
No pressure, but this is my speciality. Honestly, not sure if/how I can help you, yet- as I'd need to know more specific details of your case. But I'd be happy to review your case.
Would you be interested in submitting details of your specific case and setting up a time to chat so that I can confirm either way?
Let me know and thanks for watching!

Hiya Doc Charlie... really want to sit down & pull up a whole rath of your fabulous shares to better help 'listen' to body's internal conversation. I must wait til typical 'wet' season arrives on myyy majestic PNW...Southwest Coast Brit. Columbia as too beautiful to be inside. Sooo later Oct. onward will get serious. I am so fortunate to have, to my very core, the Westcoast DNA as born/raised on shoreline of our famous Salish Sea. Zero fear of dark cold water & continually open water swim mostly in sea (not triathlete). I am trying to get so many others to swim in ocean, sea, lakes for I know the optimal results one can achieve. Open water, esp. sea/ocean, with all its various ebbs 'n flows, currents, tide changes++ is the *magic* I tell ya😆 If done regularly it outright strengthens all the supporting muscles & tendons to help keep oneself in a stronger state.
Thank you for being that kewl doc & sharing your wisdom.

Alejandro! Hang in there man- very common that yucky movements are difficult to identify/unclear- and symptoms are delayed.

Hey! thanks for watching and sharing. Honestly, hard to give specific advice without knowing more details of what you do... what specific motions make you feel better or worse, how long you've been in pain, your specific medical history. Lots to unpack here and sounds like we need to do some detective work.
Would you be open to me reviewing your case to see even if/how I can help you out?
If so, just visit www.drcharliejohnsonpt.com/apply - select a time to chat, then follow instructions to submit details of your specific case.
      Okay?
      Hang in there!

Wouldn’t you use a pain reliever if you can’t sleep at night due to sciatic pain?

    • @drcharliejohnson
      @drcharliejohnson  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hey Kevin! this could be sign of inflammation- and you could take a pill. Or you could ask- what about my sleep environment is causing the problem in the first place. What you do at night before bed (mentally or physically), the sleeping surface, the position you're placing your body in... all of these things can be optimized to resolve pain while sleeping and act as a potential "anti-inflammatory" to your night pain.
      Takes detective work- but works!
      Make sense?
