It’s a difficult question because I have been addicted to both titles for years. Both are strong in different aspects: AMS2: a bit better force feedback (for me, with TMX), customizable hud, historical tracks and vintage cars (more fun with H-shifter and manual clutch!), tough AI (they can attack and defend), a wealth of possibilities in single mode (you can replay real racing events with real weather conditions if you set the date correctly). Also, you can practice with other players’ ghost cars in time trial mode. ACC: tyre physics, sound design, beautiful graphics and car details, feels like more authentic (due to focus on the GT races), ranking system, well-sorted tracks, characteristic cars, a plenty of fun with other players, very addictive gameplay. If I had to choose between playing only one of them from tomorrow for the rest of my life... well, I couldn't decide.
@@Ary634 you could not be more right really I would say. AMS2 is growing on me more and more the more time I spend with it. I love the variation we have in Simracing, there is something for everyone!
It’s great to see AMS 2 get the credit it deserves. There are some TH-camrs that are determined to almost make this game socially unacceptable in sim racing. They say it’s a poor Sim and the physics aren’t good, none of the cars drive like actual cars ect which isn’t true. I know when it first released it had issues with physics but that really isn’t the case anymore. There’s always room for improvements, but it’s definitely developed into a solid sim I own Just about every sim AC, ACC, I racing, dirt rally 2, R factor 2 and AMS 2. They all have their strong points and they all need improvements in some areas, but I think AMS 2 is a strong sim racer has good physics, good FFB and personally I think it has the best UI and the best VR support. The weather physics definitely need to be improved especially with the AI when it starts raining mid race. It doesn’t have a proper career mode and like you said the online support could be better, but the developers are constantly trying to improve this sim and it’s become one of my favorite.
@@steffendetrick love that write up thank you! I will definitely be showing more of AMS2 as it's simply what I'm playing the most right now. I think you make great points as all Sims can improve but they have many of their own positives in their own right. Thank you again I appreciate the effort 😊😊
Completely agree, I think AMS2 suffered from being on the Madness Engine which a certain TH-camr for some reason disliked & his accolytes picked up with childlike zeal & branded the sim unworthy...unfortunately sim racing suffers a lot from this sort of tribalism but quality eventually shines through AMS2 is my favourite sim these days. I would like to say to that famous TH-camr that I personally hate lisping but I don't consider it a reason to call him a poor content creator....:)
I only play ASM2. I've tried ACC but it just doesn't spin my tires. Though audio wise ACC is a lot better than AMS2. But to my mind that's the only area where ACC stands above AMS2. Really looking forward to the 1.6 patch for AMS2.
@@ReverendSimRacing Until about a month ago I exclusively raced offline due to the idiots that either can't drive or just try and torpedo you at a corner. But i have been for the last month really enjoying online racing in AMS2. The idiots are still there but as long as I accept the fact that IQ level can be low I don't have to many expectations so can't disappointed with getting crashed into.
I have a fanatec DD1 base and AC and ACC have the best most direct and realistic feeling ffb out of all sims i've tried, LFS feels surprisingly good too, AMS1 needs some tinkering and it clips a lot but it also feels very direct but not as good as current AMS2 regarding detail. AMS2 ffb can be so wild (depending on car and settings) and depending on the car the ffb will feel different and some cases it's very good and in some cars it's weirdly shaking violently and over the top aggressive, while on some other cars is more nuanced or even muted. There is a certain "grey area" of uncertainness on the ffb feel when you're not sure if you're under the grip limit or over the grip, and I think that's what people really enjoy on AMS2. It's less of a fall of a cliff feeling, and instead there is a wider window of operation on the limit. Some more arcade games tend to go a bit for that kind of feel and that's why many people take it less seriously. Both graphics look really good, but AC (with mods) is insanely hard to beat imho. ACC is also really good if configured right but will be very demanding and will provide less fps and a less smoother experience. AMS2 does look fantastic out of the box and on low level harware but it gets into a law of diminishing returns with better hardware, and while it can also look good, you can't really make it look insanely good to the point of photo realism where you can trick people into believing it's real. But thanks to that sacrifice, it runs smoother than any other sim, with really nice fps. I imagine most simulation racing games going after the "Gran Turismo" style "photorealism" sober look more grounded etc...
I too go back and fourth between these games. Visually they are both stunning. AMS2s AI is much more dynamic, banging doors sometimes they crash. ACC AI act afraid of you. I agree with you on FFB. Both are great. But the second you push the limit in AMS2 its like you hit a patch of black ice.
That's a fantastic way of putting it really because that is how it feels, great description. You are also right about the ACC AI, they will avoid you a bit too much, it's a shame. Both do feel great though. Maybe the AI will get some love in the AMS2 1.6 update?

I love both and have thousands (plural) of hours in ACC via Xbox and PC. It would be perfect for what it is if they fixed the brakes. GT3 drivers do not intentionally max out the brakes and get into the ABS. They threshold brake, pretty standard for all road racing. It absolutely kills it for me. AC gets it right, iRacing, AMS2, RF2, even F1 console games, but the greatest pure sim ACC screwed the pooch with their braking. It drives me nuts. ABS is in these cars a safeguard, largely for gentleman racers. Edit: ABS is in these cars as a safeguard...
ACC at brands hatch in the mclaren my best laps are high 1:23s. AMS same car same track i can barely crack into 1:27s. The FFB in AMS violently throws me off the track and into the grass in several braking zones (especially braking into hawthron), the car is constantly micro-sliding with no feeling like the tires are made of plastic, and the brakes lock up above 50% pressure. I turned the "brake sensitivity" setting in AMS from 50 to 1, and I set brake pressure to around 70% in most cars which helps get more range in the brakes before they lock. I'll have to look into those custom FFB settings you mentioned because the default irritates me so much that I avoid AMS at all costs.
You sound like you have a calibration problem with your brake pedal. I have similar problems with the brakes locking if when I do the calibration and touch the pedal just a few percentages with my foot on screen the percentages instantly go to full power. Try redoing your pedal calibration and watch carefully the percentages displayed on your screen while you are pressing the brake pedal. If during brake pedal calibration you have the same problem and the moment you touch the brake pedal onscreen the percentages instantly jump to full brake power redo the brake calibration. Usually for me works the second time,. Unfortunately this is a problem that I have with pCars 2 also.
I use VR and Ams2 is stunning in VR. AI also much much better in Ams2. For physics i agree Acc is much better and you fill the road more. But in Ams2 gt3 is not good, but other segments are really good. in these days i drive gte cars and Corvette is amazing.
