    @mechanaholics creations -any idea if Ford engine blocks come with cross hatch marks or is that only if they have been rebuilt? I’m debating on tearing into the timing chain, after taking off the intake. I found cross hatch marks after doing a bore scope on my 2000 5.4l 2v with 278K miles. If it’s been rebuilt I may not delve into the timing chain area. No current issues that I’ve noticed.

      I have an old 2V 5.4L that has 258K on the clock, and I know for a fact that it's never been rebuilt. The cylinders in mine are clean, and still have visible crosshatch from the factory hone. The blocks they build these engines with are made with good, strong iron; so it's not out of the ordinary for there to be visible hatch on the cylinders even at higher mileage unless you've had slap, detonation, or overheat glazing issues.

      @@SkorpyoTFCthanks. I can believe that for sure. It’s very impressive because with my scope I could see no up and down wear marks or any other wear. My cam lobes look great and the aluminum heads under the valve covers look really good and not stained by old worn out oil so the previous owners must have always did their oil changes properly religiously.

    What is the hp limit for a stock 5.4 3v i am contemplating doing a 5.4 3v swap in my 2010 mustang gt didn’t want to do the usual coyote swap and figured it would still look swap esp if it fits under the hood

      I've heard right around 500hp probably be safe for a while at 450hp on stock internals , but don't quote me just what ive heard

    • @SkorpyoTFC

      500 hp is the upper limit for the stock rods, stock pistons can go to 600, and stock heads/bolts can support just south of 800.

    so as long as my cams and crank are set at tdc i can install the heads with the cams already installed in the heads and bolt it up without worrying about any interference from the valves to pistons?

      @@thomasv5596 well then I must be retarded because when I did my timing chains you can spin the cam 360 degrees and none of the valves hit the pistons 😐

    • @thomasv5596
      @thomasv5596 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@opp_slider3223 i'm not sure what your engine type is, but valves and pistons will clearly make contact if you look at the heads the valves clearly extend past the surface of the head and the pistons come almost to the top of the block, about an 1/8th of an inch from the top. as well as a simple google search and multiple forums that state clearly that the 5.4 3v is not a non interference engine, hence the notorious lash adjuster installation process.

    • @goneballistic

      it's an interference engine. timing chain breaks or you get it too far off, carnage

    I have a 2005 f150 that's been sitting about 10 yrs now little single cab with the 4.6 what would it cost to rebuild motor for boost and put a turbo in with a good transmission

    • @MechanaholicsCreations
      @MechanaholicsCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I spent alil over 50k overall on my build and im still not finished with it. But I'd say anywhere between 20 and 40k if done right. That's why everyone Ls swaps everything because there cheap and can handle everything. But getting a good transmission is expensive and the labor and parts alone to build the engine for boost is really expensive and same with getting custom exhaust for turbocharging. There's not really any parts support with these engines, so everything has to be custom made and that makes it really expensive.

    • @MechanaholicsCreations
      @MechanaholicsCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should have the next video finished soon hopefully, it's been taking a while because my welder broke and can't finish the custom exhaust yet. I'll make an update video here soon.

    • @MechanaholicsCreations
      @MechanaholicsCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be done cheaper but I wouldn't recommend it cus that's what I tried to do and ended up rebuilding and redesigning it 3 times to get it to where it is now. These engines are complicated lol

    Question I have a 2004 f350 crew cab 4x4 5.4l 4700 auto trans. Has the famous ticking when starting up goes immediately away. So doing a complete timing set new camshafts and roller rockers new phasers. This is a service/utilitie body. I have a complete another truck with the 7.3l powerstroke. Basically want to take engine/trans/t case complete wiring harness ecu. I know its alot of work but got the 5.4l a nd Trans out not much for me to take the dash out and wiring harness! Would the ring and pinion need to be swapped? And front and rear shafts would they work for the diesel? 2000 year model 7.3 powerstroke auto 4x4 crew cab rolled over a d frame damaged. Have shop and lift. Got cab off diesel already. And advice? My first diesel swap. This truck spends long hours on the hwy hualing heavy tools and parts all day.

    • @MechanaholicsCreations
      @MechanaholicsCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the differential you have. My f150 has a Dana 60 rear end so it can handle alot but as long as you keep both front and rear differentials it shouldn't matter as far as gear the gear difference. I would measure the distance between the 2 drive shaft plates on the front and pull both driveshafts from the rear and compare the two, and as long as you can mount the engine in the same place as the other engine it should space fine. I'm working on a new setup for the f150 and I'll be doing solid engine mounts so I'll be able to post some of that footage here soon.
