MOSTLY the worst of Disney. Muppets was a great show, but Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America straight up gave Disney LIFE. Cars Land is a hilariously cheap and horrible idea for Frontierland, the only positive overall announcement was villain land, and even that just seems like a hollow copy of Dark Universe. I cannot believe how far this company has fallen, and how in their attempts to catch up to Universal's recent success, only exacerbated their problems

  • @tufab3494

    2 things:
1 - WOW there is a thrill coaster on Villain's Land concept art! FINALLY! it's bizarre tho how it took multiple coasters built by Universal for them to realize that is okay to have 1 or 2 attractions that won't be ridden by everybody.
2 - Disney still has another D23 down the line this year, most specifically in November. It will happen in São Paulo (Brazil) and will also take 3 full days of panels. Now, as a very biased brazilian, I know based over official data that over 800k of Orlando's annual tourists come from Brazil, and it's a no brainer to visit Disney and Universal in each of those trips. I am anxiously expecting them to finally make a new pavilion in EPCOT (there are leaked 2017 or 19 concepts for it btw) for years now and I'm very very sure it will be announced there. Of course it will probably be something small, but they will find a way to finally insert Brazil in the Orlando resort (besides José in the Mexico pavilion...) to attract even more guests in 2026. Yes, 2026. I don't know how engaged americans in general are with international soccer events happening there (like Copa America), but in 2026 the entire world will go to the US at once. LA 2028 olympics will be nothing near 2026, and I MEAN that. The Football World Cup is hands down the most popular sports event in the world, even more than the olypimcs, so tourism gets crazy wherever the event happens, and considering that Florida is already a very sought after destination by lots of nationalities who really engage in the WC (notably the UK and Brazil which are respectively 1st and 2nd on that international tourist influx ranking I mentioned) both Disney and Universal will probably see HUGE attendance increase from all over the world. But think, over 1,5 million brazilians in your city, which mostly ignore EPCOT and Animal Kingdom in favor of Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, you have this 1 zillion canceled concepts for the country, you have a Disney IP and a Blue Sky IP which would fit well in either EPCOT or AK, so why don't make it happen with the right funding? My guess is that there is a major brazilian company willing to sponsor something Brazil related to be built quick and open in early 2026, in time for the WC. Of course it won't be made just for brazilians, but the initial hype will certainly help it pay itself quicker and depending on what it will be, this addition will both entertain and educate people from all around the world about our country. There are 2 good options: Tropical Americas or EPCOT. That's "just" my optimistic guess based on the last couple years rumours and the old canceled concepts, but I really believe in what I'm saying. Brazil most likely will come to WDW in 2026, the question is how. Mark my words. I will finally see more about the announcements now (bc I was waiting for you or Dallin to cover the subject in a vid xD) so maybe I can elaborate even further on this personal fever dream before November's D23 lol
Greetings from the capital Brasília 🇧🇷 🙌

Since Lion King is my favourite movie of all time and Disneyland Paris is my home park, it's by far my most hyped attraction/land. I don't get why they used the remake for the concept art when the ride is based on the original, but still.
Also, the ride system is actually different from Tiana's. It's gonna have 12 people logs with 4 rows of 3 people, and the ride will be around 15 minutes long with a massive show building.

The best thing about it is that it shows universal is forcing them to put more investment into the parks. The worst part is that it shows they are still making bad decisions (Mark Twain, putting cars in frontierland, Indiana Jones in ANIMAL Kingdom).

That Cars attraction NEEDS to get cancelled ASAP. Having that area of the park back up onto the Rivers of America is such an important part of Magic Kingdom's design and provides so, soooo much ambiance for that place. Filling it in for crap that has nothing to do with the old west when they have plenty of other space to expand into is one of the worst and most obnoxious ideas Disney has ever had. This is taking a hatchet to the design of the park. They should put in the back behind BTMR and fill in the back of the RoA if they have to. Or better yet, move the whole project to Hollywood Studios and take over some of the backstage. But they absolutely should NOT ruin one of the most soulful and atmospheric waterfronts in any theme park for goddamn anthropomorphic talking cars.
I also don't see why they wouldn't put the Monsters Inc. ride in Animation Courtyard? That is essentially dead space anyway and is ugly AF. They don't need to be removing side attractions to make new stuff when DHS is already so strained for capacity and they have other options anyway.
Sorry, the rest of these announcements are great to fine, but those two are just so frustrating. It's always something with Disney.

Disney turning Walt Disney into an animatronic to “honor him” while destroying the rivers of america is all too telling of the state of the company. Walt is nothing more than a marketable character like Mickey to them at this point. They’re going against his wishes to not be depicted in the park in a step far beyond a statue or museum and then destroying an opening day attraction, and while not the original, one of Walt’s favorite parts of the original park. This is despite having an empty expansion plot right there and the option to just cut the river in half in the back like Disneyland did, they just don’t care because that would cost more money for them. They don’t care what Walt’s vision was, they just care that his name and image means something for people and know they can cash in on that.

I've literally never heard the part about "taking out old things". If a park element is good or iconic, you don't need to take it out. This should be a no-brainer. Any attractions Walt replaced were because he was replacing them with something BETTER and more fitting. This is the exact opposite

Couldn't be more true. I'm not even the biggest fan of Walt as a person, (His union busting wasn't great) but no person deserves to have their likeness exploited the way Disney has exploited his. It was said for the opening of Disneyland; a park that rushed to opening and had literal piles of dirt just sitting in the park, sections with basically nothing to do and wet asphalt that caused people’s shoes to sink into the sidewalk. While I’m sure he wanted the park to grow and improve, it was more or less his way of telling the public “Don’t worry, the park won’t be an active construction site forever.”
