Excellent overview on these cameras and beautiful photos ! Very important point on using the native ISO. I have seven in the ZS5 - ZS7 range and have modified 4 by removing the sensor IR/UV cut filter and then installing various external IR filters as you showed how to do in a video a few years ago. I've found that the active image stabilization system is quite good in them allowing longer hand-held shutter times that I would have thought possible. Never considered using one of those small tripods, but I'll definitely give it a try. We'll be looking forward to Part 3 !

Thanks for another great piece of information. Got me thinking about using one of these rather than a phone

Yes the extra reach and shallower DOF might be an advantage.

It was very interesting because I like compact cameras. I have several, but my best is the old Lumix DMC LS3 :-). I agree with you. ISO 80 is the best setting.

Thanks Graham, very useful tip about using low iso . I keep a TZ8 in my car , had it from new and it’s produced some great images. Although I now mainly use my OMD gear I do enjoy the simplicity of the older digital cameras. Looking forward to your next episode...I have a LUMIX GF1 which I pair with vintage lenses. By the way you have great countryside where you live, very nice images.

Thanks Alan. I just managed to get a GF2 that I will be using for the next episode - initial tests look extremely good.

I use the ZS5 as a backup to my Sony RX10 for travelling, I bought 2 because it is such a bargain and so good.

Nice video. Love your FZ80 series. Just curious, do you have any experience with the Panasonic LUMIX DC-ZS70. Would love some tutorials for this model.

I decided to leave Panasonic Travel zooms after every model I bought from the TZ30 to the TZ80 became troublesome with dust on the sensor/inside the lens and Panasonic stopped cleaning under warranty It's a pity as they do have great lenses and features.

Graham, Do you have some advice about the Panasonic ZX200 and the Panasonic ZX100. A $200 difference in price. Do they both have 1 inch sensors? I'm hoping to buy a new travel camera before the weekend that is not as bulky as my Panasonic Lumix FZ300

In the UK they have a TZ prefix. I bought the TZ 100 over TZ 200 as the price difference was great but the spec' of the more expensive TZ 200 was almost identical to the cheaper '100. The 200 has a bigger zoom range but that didn't entice me. I have found the TZ 100 to be an excellent camera. Yes, they both have the 1 inch sensor.

Would this give better image quality than the TZ30 and TZ40 due to the CCD?
