    If they do not reduce the product amount AND the price for “clean beauty” the hole concept of clean beauty is a lie. This amount of products and plastic casings that is thrown away after 3-6 months because of shelf life and product amount we are used to get for the pice is NOT CLEAN at all 😢 . It is devastating for the environment and consumers money

    Looking at them side by side on your eyes, I think the result is not even close. The old formula was perfection, to me: easy, durable, with no effort one would get a sophisticated and impactful look. Now, the look isn't bad, but it isn't "wow", either.
    There was a price increase in Europe. We went from paying 62 euro, to then around 66, now it's 71 euro (EDIT: it seems it varies from 69 to 71 depending on the country), which is around 76 USD. It's crazy, even more so considering the economic situation in Europe. We started getting the new price with the Summer collection. I really don't like this, and I am a bit sad about it. It's just make up, but still.
    I watched a couple of other reviews and it seems that the matte is generally patchy. Also, the shimmers swatch better than they perform on the eyes, I think. At least looking at them through the video. I love Dior, but this is just not the right move fo somebody like me. I have to save up to eventually buy a palette, I am not going to save up to buy an "ok" palette.

    We're really getting screwed with this clean beauty thing. It has no legal base, they can just remove whatever ingredients they want and say their products are clean. And mostly, that's preservatives that are well-studied and very efficient, like parabens. Those get replaced by less-well studied, most recent preservatives that aren't necessarily as safe/more safe for us, but they are also LESS EFFICIENT. All the expiration dates are getting shorter, so we'll have to replace and repurchase faster, spending more money on something that doesn't do anything more for us.

    I respectfully disagree. I love multiple Dior products but if they reformulate and their new formulas or components are not good- then I do have a choice. I’ll no longer spend my money on them. There are plenty of luxury brands to choose from. I really like the idea of clean beauty but not at the cost of performance. My personal experience with Dior reformulating the Forever Skin Glow foundation was not good. It used to be my go-to, # 1 favorite foundation that I repurchased time and time again. Unfortunately, the new formula caused me to break out and didn’t even look nearly as good on my skin as the old formula did. So i have been spending my hard earned $ searching for my new “holy grail” foundation from other brands. Guerlain, Chanel, Haus Labs.

    The big problem with Dior’s marketing claim is that there is no clearcut definition for “clean beauty”; nor is there any industry agreed upon criteria for something to be considered “clean”. Because the label “clean beauty” is unregulated, it is meaningless. Apropos cornstarch. At one time it was used extensively in products for oily skin. In the 60’s very teen had a compact of CornSilk powder because it absorbed oil like crazy-not sure I want to be putting something like that on my über dry skin.

  • @CarryOn-Janet
    @CarryOn-Janet ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Safflower oil (such a great oil for food and cosmetics) is becoming more expensive and rare. Ukraine was one of the main producers of safflower (sunflower) oil on a global scale. So I'm guessing it's more of an economic choice that Dior has decided to cut it out of the formula.

  • @toriandjojo2018
    @toriandjojo2018 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    My prediction given the differences in key colors is that Dior will reformulate yet again as this clearly is not an improvement! That said both old and new look fantastic on you! This color story just really suits you! The fact that the matte is getting hard panned on you, with just routine and careful use, makes this a total shame given what you paid for it!! 😢

    The old formula leans more cool/ purplish on your eye. The new one is softer and leans on the warm side. They both look great on you. It depends which formula you like better.

    I actually think the idea of becoming ‘clean’ is a way for companies to make even more money. Thank you Sofia for reviewing the new Soft Cashmere quint (in spite of having recently purchased it in the “old” formulation - bonus: it does make for a perfect comparison). You asked so, I agree that the “old” side looks better - more intense and more pop. (Question: was the difference still visible after 3-4 hours?) My main concern is with corn starch; in addition to being an inexpensive powder-base for pigment, it is an allergen for many people, in addition to having a much shorter shelf life than talc. I wonder if Dior’s (sorry, DIOR’s) reformulation was dictated by new or upcoming EU rules regarding cosmetics.

    Usually clean beauty is just a marketing tactic. It’s not regulated. Anyone can make up what it means to them, and it mostly relies on fear mongering, when in reality there’s nothing wrong with the ingredients they are removing/demonizing. I simply can’t subscribe to the idea, that in order to sell something, you have to scare women and then make them believe you’re the right choice because your products are “clean” 🫠

    Hi Sofia 😊
    I was correct in my guess of which eye had the old formula. The lid color was much more impactful.
    My thoughts. I’ve watched a few videos regarding these new pallets. Most reviewers have mentioned that the packaging was difficult to open. For me that’s a major strike. Being older with fingers having a bit of arthritic difficulty, this packaging is a no go.
    The so called “clean” formula is just nonsense. The clean fad in most case’s definitely means the product will go bad much faster.
    Last point is the cornstarch. Major no for me.
    I’ll just enjoy the quints I already own.
    Change can be good, but change for just the sake of “change” for marketing purposes is not a plus.
    I’d like to know if you continue to have hard pan issues with the dark shade.
    Give your Mom a Hug 🤗 for me.

HOWEVER, I very VERY much wish they'd come up with a new package design for these eye shadow quints. The plastic packaging looks and feels CHEAP, and who needs the mini brushes. Maybe they will, as they have that new cushiony packaging on their bronzers and highlighters that is reminiscent of their handbags....we shall see.

    Brilliant. The only thing I was buying from Dior was their quint and the backstage foundation. So now I will buy none.

    😑😑😑 very disappointing. I don’t think I will be purchasing any quints in the future. I was very much disappointed in their reformulating the Dior forever skin correct concealer as well. That was my holy grail and now it no longer is. It’s basically an entirely new concealer if you compare ingredients. Bleh. Dior is losing.

    I don't like this new direction they're taking, they discontinued my beloved Diorshow waterproof blackout mascara for one and I used to purchase more Dior makeup before they started re-doing a bit too much for my liking, I have been buying Christian Dior makeup over twentyfive years, I am disappointed with the brand.
    As for the swatches and the look, there is a noticeable difference between the palettes. The old one is cooler, smoother and more impactful, I prefer that one.

    Old formula leans more Tom ford high shine and depth, new formula seems dry and more subdued and generic. You’d think they’d ask their customers before changing something like this.

    It’s a shame that they reformulate the eyeshadow. I originally love the old formula a lot and more worth the money than the new one. Plus the packaging opening is also such a down grade. It make everything look cheaper. And I don’t like that they use corn starch replacement such a cheap ingredient for the very expensive eyeshadow. The dark brown in soft cashmere look like you can get it from any cheaper eyeshadow and look super powdery.

    I would love a comparison of the forever foundations as in the matte, glow and the natural one which is sold exclusively on dior website that I have only seen there unlike the other two which I’ve seen at other retailers. Also their new primers that go with them. Especially since the shades they come in I see the number of choices varies between the different formulations…. I think there is also another forever formula that comes in a squeeze tube but not sure if it was still available or just had not been removed from their website. Also would love a video explaining the different dior lip glow products. I see some now are gloss some I think are actual lipsticks and some are plumping but all have very similar packaging and kinda a bit confusing what is what and which do what to know which to buy and would give the results a shopper would be seeking. Thanks. Loving your videos.

    Your boyfriend was spot on. I prefer the look of the old formula on you. Dior eye shadows have always been my favorite but I don’t like how the new formula emphasized the lines on your hand more. I really wanted the Eden Roc but now I’m going to pass on it 😞

    This makes me so sad. Luckily I have a lot of the old revised formula and I probably won’t be buying future dior pallets. They had a nice run in my book but now my eye is adverting to other brands with formulas I trust and know perform better.

    It's a no go for me on the new formula. On one hand the quicker use of the product is great if you use it everyday, but if not it could go bad without the preservative they are leaving out. I don't trust "clean" beauty to last long after seeing Hannah Louise Poston talk about the Tower 28 lipgloss going bad quickly. I'm on a no-buy/no bring in for the whole year and if I can get the old formula at the beginning of next year, great. If not, it's what it is. I don't have to have any Dior palettes, but I sure want a few of the old formula ones. I would use Ulta point on the old formula, but not the new. I rather use my points for something else better instead if the palettes I do want sell out on Ulta's website before January 1st.

    good to know! i ahve the old soft cashmere and wanted to get two more quints. i'll go to the store and see if they have the old versions. i got mine in may and it was the old version, so they might still be around in physical stores. they're sold out everywhere online rn, probably because they are swapping the old ones out for the new ones.

    Thank you for your honesty. I will skip out on the reformulated quints unfortunately. They both look good on you, but I prefer the old one for sure. I don’t like how the new one accentuates the lines on your hands. Doesn’t bode well for my crinkly eye.
