Talc has not caused health issues but it has been alleged because some talc suppliers haven’t made sure it wasn’t contaminated. Please don’t refer people to that Netflix series as it is not valid😊 I will be happy to refer you to valid sources if you are interested ❤
Hiii pinned your comment so you can provide some sources for anyone who is interested. I know the contaminated talc is bad for your health, I hear talk of asbestos but i tend to stay away from the topic when it comes to my channel as indeed i dont like spreading misinformation. It was kind of difficult to move around the subject when it came to this reformulation. Any great links you can provide i am happy to refer other people to!👇🏼
What a thorough comparison! Thanks so much for such a thoughtful video. Why oh why do brands insist on reformulations of classics. Also, your red lip here is absolutely stunning. One of my favourite makeup looks on you! 🔥
Yass you know you are convincing me to do more reds! I am also so skeptical about these reformulations. I just dont trust it haha. Its nota bad formula its just not better...😭
Since I have yet to see a powder eyeshadow ever go bad, I always ignore the "use by" dates myself. Now, if something is a cream-to-powder like some Natasha Denona, Huda, and now even a few from Tom Ford, that's something I just keep an eye on and watch for any changes. Having just ordered Plum Tulle from Macy's yesterday, I'm HOPING for the un-reformulated version! I don't like the new clasp on the newest one at all.
I think the new packaging is such a step down. I loved the old way. This newer one was tough to open. Dropped it twice! I hope you get the old formula as well . I personally know that's a great formula to own and stand by it. I am really wondering if i should purchase another palette with the older formula
Why Dior why??! The new formula looks patchy and less vibrant. What a bummer. I guess I’ll try to get soft cashmere in the “old” formulation. I’ve been eyeing that palette for forever! And maybe grand bal as well. Thank you for the review Sonia, super helpful as usual. Also, are they serious about that price increase? 71 € is insane for a tiny little quint!
My jaw was on the floor with the price increase. I usually pay about €62 for a quint which i already think is steep for a quint. I love the dior eye and formula. Indeed..... this experience was .... not entirely the same. I wanna be optimistic and hopeful but.... gahhh part of me is thinking getting soft cashmere in the older formula and the older price.
I love the current Dior quint formulas. They are so lovely. I guess they reformulated to make it talc free. Blah. When they made their foundation “clean” it ruined it for me. It breaks me out now and before it was my favorite. I’m sad the blending was patchy with the new matte. Ugh. I’m going to try to pick up the 2 quints I want before the new palettes come to the US.
Hiiii wasnt sure where to respond to first insta or TH-cam 🙈 but indeed. Its not necessarily an improvement. I wanna give it the benefit of the doubt. Still very much dior eyeshadows, but the entire experience i felt was a step down. I am also very blah on all of this. Feels unnecessary. I also wish they would give more explanation as to specific changes, why and how this is supposedly better. But nothing....
The Dior Forever Skin Glow foundation used to be my Go To but after they reformulated it, it broke me out and looked terrible on my skin. Such a bummer.
Thanks for this super quick review Sonia! I wish Dior did not reformulate when the previous formula is well loved. When they went clean with their foundations, it was terrible. I loved their previous foundation formulation. I guess I’m keeping my old Dior quints even much longer than the suggested 6 months, bc I’m going to hold on to them!
Same! I am even debating getting quints of the older formula while stock lasts.... pfffff i am not happy with these reformulations. Hope you had an amazing mother's day btw ❤️
@@sonia.butler Ha ha! Same! I have noooo business buying more eyeshadow, BUT Dior quint older formula is one of my favs. And that Grand Bal quint looks exquisite on you. I think it's worth buying the older formula. I have three in my cart right now. Happy Mother's Day to you, too, Sonia! ❤ ❤❤
You’re welcome!!! I am so happy you enjoyed it. I hope I wasn’t too harsh on the reformulation. I ended up liking the look. Just wanted to be honest ❤️
I really appreciate you going over all of the different details between the palettes like the clasp for example. I’m curious how Dior handles th formulation of their limited edition and holiday palettes. Thinking of their Ecrin Couture and Mitzah cheek/eye palettes. For example, I enjoy my Ecrin Couture palette from this past holiday season. Still on the fence about the Mitzah simply because I don’t wear those colors often -bought it because of the compact lid design to be 100% honest with myself.
Isn't it.wild? Why change the packaging? They must have changed suppliers or something. I just wish they were upfront about it. Packaging is important to me. I pay for the entire experience. And this just... wasn't up to standard. I am a little bummed. It's not like the eyeshadow look didn't come across as Dior worthy, but overall, just ... not wowed 😭
Its not like the formula is vastly different in the reformulation but.... overall experience was just meh. The patchyness, the packaging, the freaking price tag! I am not a fan.
There are no particular comments on the wear time. It wore well! I hope i didn't give the impression it was a terrible formula 🙈 but i just know dior Eyeshadow, and this was not an improvement across the board. It still looked like dior shadows but nothing aboiut this wowed me
Its soooo weird why would they change this aspect. I get changing the formula if you wanna go clean. But hard to open packaging. Especially coz dior also attracts older ages. Its so weird
I have in old formulation: Poncho, Grand Bal, Nude Dress and New Look and in new formulation Soft Cashmiere and honestly they are all perfect. I don't see any diference in quality. My most used everyday go to eyeshadows.
I love that it works for you! I feel like the essence of dior eyeshadow is still the same. Since theyre pricey palettes its good that people enjoy them like old. Thanks for this feedback❤️
The packaging is really bad! Dior increases prices and saves! This is not acceptable! I loved Dior shadows but I think my next favorite is another brand, unfortunately
Yeh... i am also disappointed. Not coz the eyeshadow look didn't come together.... but the overall experience is just a step down and that's soooo disappointing for fans of the formula. Packaging is such an odd thing to change. I hate habing to open it with my nails. The press system was so easy. Small details
If you think the packaging is hard to open at your young age, imagine how difficult it is for older/mature individuals who are dealing with arthritic fingers. The packaging is a complete fail for me. I’ll be 70 in two years. Reformulation for so called clean formula doesn’t seem to be a win. I’ll just enjoy my old palettes. Saves me a ton of money.
I was thinking about that as well. My mom would hate this packaging. Its indeed better to just stick with the old. Pick up some of the old formula if you were still eyeing particular color stories ❤️
🤔 I saw you had some patching issue. Talc is not necessarily bad it’s the source. Maybe their talc supplier is on the fritz or no longer trusted (?) who knows. I’m with you on the shelf life, there are “cleaner” brands that do a better job with that. Lol. The look you made is still beautiful.
I don't trust them with a 6 month shelf life.... i always wonder if its just a tactic to get me to repurchase the palettes. I have never heard anyone say their dior shadow went rancid. I also wish Dior would provide info on why they are reformulating. Its all so very vague. Why change the packaging? So many questions. I still have talc products in my collection. I am aware of the debate . I am not a clean beauty only type of girl BUT if measures are taken and standards are changing I will change with the times. Anyway, very curious how this new formation performs on other people. I am surprised i got some patching. I wonder if its only this palette and others are still okay. I am optimistic
Beautiful but too bad for the patchy shadow. I had been eyeing this quint from Dior in the old formula. I am not happy about the price increase, and certainly not happy about the packaging. I have issues with my wrists and I don't see why they should make it harder for people to open the quints. I love the Maison but this is sad.
Agree.... i am disappointed. I dont understand why they have to change the freaking packaging as well as the formula. I keep thinking they switched suppliers maybe but they're so hush hush about it.... its a little annoying
@@sonia.butler I honestly think they did it because now the "talc free" thing is trendy and it probably costs a bit to source from reliable suppliers. Now they put in starch, it ought to be less expensive, for sure. I love them, but I don't like this idea.

Stunning look on you with the palette! I only have Soft Cashmere in the old formula, I'm tempted to pick up Grand Bal in the new formula.
Soft cashmere is on my list as well. I have quite a few now 🙈 its frustrating they reformulated but still gives the dior finish we.know and love.

I picked up the last quint (old version) that I wanted and got 2 backups of the overcurl mascara as they are reformulating that one too😢
