This card is so pretty, looks tie dyed. It's amazing how watercolor backgrounds workout. I like how two are never the same, makes them unique. It's already been spring here in California for the last couple of months and playing havoc on my allergies. Oh well, the price we pay for beautiful spring weather.
Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial! When I first saw the card, I thought the butterflies were cut out. The tip on depth was fantastic. I never would have guessed. Even seeing it, I can't believe they are not cut out. Thank you again for sharing it.
Lovely, I love your videos. I like how you talk to us as if we are really there and we do have those thoughts in our head and suddenly you answer them.
This card is so beautiful! The shading you did around the butterflies really worked. When I first saw the pic of the card, I thought it was a multi layer card! You do really nice work and I really enjoy watching your videos!!!
this is one of my favorite cards. Love the colors and the techniques. Plus I too, am super stoked for spring! heck, almost ready to start mowing my yard and not totally dreading it. Give me a couple weeks. LOL
Beautiful card I love how you intermingle watercolor and copics!!! You could try the shadow with a watercolor pencil that would give you more control over the watercolor. But this way is good too :) thanks for sharing love your videos!!!!
Kelly this is so pretty! I wanted to tell you that you inspire me so much! I love your work, as you probably know I have started following you on pintrest, I tried finding you on facebook but couldn't. I have just about watched all your videos. Thank you so much for all the awesome videos, and I love when you talk all the way through, lol. I am watching you on you tube on Roku and posting this from my laptop, lol, Im addicted. Anyway my coloring has vastly improved and it's all thanks to you. I am in no way any where near your brilliance but I'm quite a ways from where I started. I am having a couple of issues though, I cannot do leaves to save my life. I don't know why I'm having such a problem, I go back and watch all your videos where you do leaves but there are so many different ones and they get colored differently. I'm mind boggled. Also this may be nuts but the purple tones just don't come out right. Is it weird that I'm having issues with purples? Sorry about the long post but you have said that you don't mind getting comments and questions sooo...... LOL! Any tips you have and don't mind sharing are GREATLY appreciated. Have a great day!
+Tina Pike hahaha this was the best reply. :) I try to color all my leaves differently because in nature they would be different but I can see how it might get confusing. I'll try to put something together where I take time to talk about how I do mine. What violets are you using? Some colors blend better than others so that could be the problem. Thank you so much for your kind words! xoxo
+Kelly Latevola Hey Kelly, sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner, life happens. Hate when it interrupts my crafting. LOL. I don't have the Copic brand I have Trimcraft. I like them but purples and blues I find are hard for me to blend. The six purple colors I am using (from lightest to darkest), see I'm listening, lol, Dusky Purple, Lavender, Lilac, Amethyst, Grape, Aubergine. I don't imagine that helps much because we are using different brands. I will definitely keep an eye out for that video, but I watch them all so I won't miss it. LOL. Thanks again for the help, advise, videos, not calling your friends from the precinct to haul this stalker in. LOL LOL Have a great day.
a girl after my own heart, I love intense color also...ty for all the great wc tips, I've never seen that particular shadow effect done quite that way before, WOW is all I can say, I don't have copies will it work with Sharpies? Gorgeous card ur so talented
So I just learned how to fix a "banana" brush....boil some water and dip just the bristles in for a few seconds and pull it back out then rise the brush. It should fix the bent brush. The only problem that I think ay come from that is it was shown to me on a natural hair brush but I don't see why it wouldn't work on synthetic but it may just take a few more dips in the hot ass water! Of coarse this is purely is you want to straighten your other brush. Happy Mothers Day!!!
+Kelly Latevola happy Mother's Day to you too! I subscribe to Billy Showell.com she is a botanical watercolorist (ahh-mazing!!) who teaches via online tutorials. The video description form like two years ago made me think of you and your brush :) however I was hesitant to tell you because you know I kind of like the banana brush!!!
Ok let see if I can type what I actually was saying in my head.... The video description said "how to fix your banana brush" and I immediately thought of you and your brush. :) I subscribe to Billy's and Anna Mason. The two have extremely different styles for the same medium, polar opposites to me really. Anna I can say is somewhat easier however she tends to use complex images that kind of counter balance the "easy" part but she is one heck of a teacher. Billy on the other hand has a more classical style which is a bit harder to pick up immediately but not overly time consuming as long as you practice a couple of times. I could watch Billy's tutorials all day because it is not just a shot of her hands painting 100% of the time and her voice is soothing, feels at a girlfriends house painting/crafting. Sorry for the shameless plug about them. I think they are brilliant and for $20ish buck (both are around the same price) a month for endless tutorials.
denise stine The shimmer is slightly more pink and already mixed. If you have the perfect pearls use that. If not think about giving the shimmer spray a try :)
All the brushes I used in this video are in the Ranger Studio Art Paint Brushes. I think the smallest one is a #2 round. There's a link in the description :)
Lovely lovely lovely card

+Lori Barker It will work wil sharpies if you're okay with a bold shadow. They don't blend out like Copics.
Great video! New subbie!

The end! Lol.
haha. I'll have to look into it. Thanks!
sorry but what is the difference between the shimmer spray that you used & Perfect Pearls w/ water... is it more intense ?
denise stine The shimmer is slightly more pink and already mixed. If you have the perfect pearls use that. If not think about giving the shimmer spray a try :)
What is the small brush that you use in water coloring?
