on mine i did opt for aluminium lower arm's (and alu...caps? the pieces that keep the lower arms in place) because my main use for it will be offroad, so if a well camouflaged branch is sticking up i'd rather have it flip the car than risk breaking a lower arm (think the lower arm's are made of the softest plastic they include in the kit which is good for giving upon receiving a hit but not sure how much it takes to break them..would rather not find out ;P)
and got a metal plate coming for the front for that same reason (that plastic ridge a the front causes me some concern, well placed branch will either cause it to stop or put as much force as it can where ever it hits >.>
So which spur gear did you use? It looks like a 68 tooth is included with the "high speed gear set" but it also looks like you have one that has 64 tooth. Which one is the proper one 🤔?

Is there something I have to do with the stock esc? Just built mine and only steering works
Nothing to do with: sometimes it takes times for the ESC to match with the radio. Be sure that your radio is set at nominal values and check your wires
What spindle upgrade did you choose? I like the blue
You could go for the cheap solution: Yeah racing TT02-006BU and TT02-007-2BU. Not always the best quality but enough for a TT02
I'm seriously thinking on getting one of these and stumbled upon a video of a chassis build and noticed the plastic bushings and drive shaft, and thought "that kinda sucks" hehe... anyway, one thing I dont have clear is if all the ball bearings are the same size, so I just need one of those bags/sets? Thanks for the video btw... good info
you must understand that the main part of these models are never put on a track, but only put on a shelf.
That's why it is understandable that Tamiya don't put ball bearings on their low cost chassis. But for someone who just want to run with the stock mabuchi motor, it's not a big issue.
Regarding your question about the ball bearings, they are from 2 or 3 differents size regarding the model. But no concern, when you buy a ball bearing dedicated to the TT02 all ball bearings are at the good size :). The central shaft have to be replaced only for a powerfull motor, with the stock one you can let your plastic shaft
@@RowhiderRCRacing Oh, I didnt know they were kinda made to be shelf queens hehe. I've never been into Tamiya RC cars in general because I've always seen them as very pretty, but at the same time, very overpriced. This one got my attention though and will probably buy it :). I only need a can of Subablue and the servo.

regret too late to see this video. i improve my Tt02 buying the steering bridges only, wothout the steering rods, wheel arm and saver. the steering is improved a but still runs bit like floating
The reinforced servo saver improve a lot the steering precision, you can replace the stock one easely ! The floating feeling comes from running gaps in steering arms but comes from the plastic servo saver too because too soft. In fact you can directly put an arm instead of a servo saver, works well but higher risk to damage your servo in case of crash

Any standard servo would be compatible, but prefer a metal gear if you can.
Will these work for TT02D chassis?
Everything stay always ok but you Will need specific parts regarding the fact that the TT02B has long suspension harms and long dampers.
But the ball bearing set, central transmission shaft or aluminium motor mount are exactly the same
TT02D, as in "Drift" spec, is basically the same TT02 chassis but pre-upgraded for drift spec and sold at higher price. Everything in this video works with the TT02D chassis if the parts were not already included.
TT02B, as in "Buggy", requires different part sets, but some are interchangeable with base TT02 hopups.

I think you will pay too much for a lot of parts without major impact: forget upper and lower arms. If you want to run on circuit, you should directly buy a much better chassis like a TB05, but to race on a parking: buy just what is needed to improve the reliability and put a good sport motor like a combo Surpass Hobby 3300KV with an ESC60A and a Lipo
@@RowhiderRCRacing Hello friend ! thank you very much for the answer , I am new to the hobby and do not know much about car models , the purpose is just entertainment , running in the parking lot is not competition , I am from Brazil the only site that delivers me here is Rc mart , this one tt02 chassis for what I recommend it would be just for fun purposes even though it's not worth it I invested all this in it I managed to understand your message.... Do you know any good onroad models with quality parts for the purposes I want to use?? Or would you really recommend me just buying a TT02 kit to assemble it original, with a good ESC servo kit and have fun? I already have a brushless hobbywing 10bl120 esc here and a 13.5t surpass motor, would it work on it?
@@fabricioaraujo6783 Hi from France! If you are starting in this hobby a TT02 will be a good choice because parts are available everywhere in the world and cheap. More of that you have to build your car which is the best way to anderstand your model and solve potential issues later. A TT02 will be a nice choice for your purpose, you just have to choose the car regarding your running surface: tarmac, gravel: circuit or rallye car ? Your ESC and your 13.5T will fit in but the power of this motor will be too strong for the stock transmission. So you will need to put the ball bearing set, the aluminium central shaft and the aluminium motor mount in priority. Everything else is less important.
My tt02 is mod to rwd 😅 so central transmission is no use…
More teeth in pinion + less teeth in spur = speed+++++
theoretically yes, but you cannot put any pinion and spur because of the max distance possible between both shafts. That's why you need in first an adjustable motor mount and secondly a couple pinion spur compatible
@@RowhiderRCRacing I will buy a yr adj mount and I found 50t pinion and 40t spur
I have the 64T spur fitted to a 31T pinion in the stock motor mount K position. It meshes perfectly but the aluminum mount is on order. I need shims on the axles or some kind of stopper in the drive cups to take the slop out of the uprights. The car does not want to drive straight above 40mph.
Unfortunately because of the pitch so now is 55t spurs and 32t pinions
