Just bougth one (my first UNIOR tool) and i am pleasant surprised :). It's full metal construction and the wheel has a micro adjustment (about 46 steps from 0 to 1%), Well made, similar to a WWI era metrology instrument. I measured (with a 0.0005'' vernier) pin to pin distance at each step and can confirm that 0.4 to 0.8 % range have excellent accuracy. The 1% region has reasonable accuracy, and the 25% region is ok accuracy and the 0% is poor accuracy. This actually makes perfect sense as this technology (offset pin) accuracy is variable, and you need your accuracy at 0.4 to 0.8%, so well engineered product. In short, the tool will give you reliable readings from 0.25 to 1%, so don't be surprised if you get unreliable reading (0 to 0.2%) on a new chain.
thanks for this insights :)
Just bought this tool best one I have seen so far
Love this one, but not sure if there is any single brand new chain on market that shows 0%.
So you dont push on the cranks to make the chain more stretched for the measurement? Because there is generally 1-2 clicks difference.
is this applicable also to use on a motor bike & engine chain
Awesome & Thanks :)
Hi, i checked few new chains by unior and everyone is 0,25%,
is it correct, or is the gauge broken?
Same, will check every store bike with it on monday.
@@CrispiJones And.....? I have the same observations - new, unused chain (shimano, and kmc too) and the instrument gives a result of 0.2.
@@JohnDoeANDIwanIwanowicz And as always endless stream of repairs conbined with list of new bikes preparation stopped me with it. Next monday will be that day, I hope.
The same... kmc, shimano xt, xtr, sram. New chains 0,2-0.3%
Ini praktis. 👍
Is it usable for Single speed? Or which should I use?
I have read that single speed can go up to 1%, so no.
Hi I'm good, thanks for a great video! :D
Oh new tool
I have never heard of Unior but I know of PARK Tools. The Unior tool is considerably more expensive that the PARK Equivalent & I have read mixed reports regarding the Unior product. For this reason, I simply can't bring myself to purchase the Unior product. I think many people will feel the same way. Sorry guys, but I think you have some serious marketing to do
Park do better videos, Unior makes better tools.
You can't really say that when the Unior measures brand new chains at .25% wear. A lot are reporting the same issue with the Unior.
@@e30Birdy do check @vahe najarian comment. I think it's expected for 0% to 0.2% unreliable readings, even on new chains
@@e30Birdy Yes just under this video are a few.
