This is THE most comprehensive video that I have seen for 8550 conversion, and I've watched so many of them that my head spins. Shout out to you Hangry Muscle! UPDATE: One thing that I need to make clear to everyone, though! I tried this right out of the box, and here is my conclusion: You CANNOT do this right out of the box. You must first install your printer and go through the set-up process. The reason for this: If you take off the rollers and the tray and then install your printer, it will NOT be able to do a proper set-up, test page etc. without the rollers and the tray. You can however put in the DTF ink when the set-up tells you to put in your ink. Once you get it installed and set up, then you can take off the roller and tray. Happy DTF'ing everyone!
I got this printer with the intent of doing sublimation. While getting ready I found this video. I think the dtf will be better for what my intent is. So glad I found this.
How’s is going for you so far? I’m thinking about purchasing one of these printers and doing like the video. I was wondering if the prints also look good on black shirts since that’s what I’ll be working on most
Great video but one thing im unsure of, in other peoples videos they strip off the sides to remove the rollers and mention removing a spring attached under the metal bar on the left, the on with the single screw that you remove to lift the rollers, does the spring stay put while you lift it, worried about it coming off and landing on the mother board. Cheers
How come I read somewhere that the et-8550 has a DTF mode that changes heights of rollers and such and doesn’t require removing stuff from the printer? Did they suggest wrong?
Best video I have seen very informative and explained your steps very well. I have a question what are the measurements of the exit tray tile you are using and where can I purchase it from?
@hangrymuscle hey, thank you for the tutorial! I have a question - how do I tell the printer that I have replaced the pink inks with white ones? Or does the RIP software prompts for that/automatically kind of knows, which ink is where?
Hello, Im looking into getting this printer. I have a few questions if you wouldnt mind answering, would be greatly appreciated. What electric stirrer would you recommend for the white ink and from where? What is your printer settings on laptop when you are printing DTF? Is there a particular brand of ink, powder, and film you suggest? And I found Cadlink software, supposed to be full version on Etsy... its like 15 dollars... they said its the full version.... do you know anything about that? Kinda scared about it since everywhere else Cadlink is NOT cheap by far. Thank you!
Great video. Question. Since you did not use the ink tanks and went with the external CISS instead. Are you able to switch to maybe sublimation or regular printing by using the actual ink tanks by unplugging the CISS? Just a thought since the ink tanks in the printer were not used. Thank you.
Hi!! Thanks for this tutorial! Couple of questions:. I converted an epson for sublimation and have been making tumblers, shirts, etc. I also have been using the dtf hack using my sublimation printer. What is the difference in me using my sublimation printer or converting another printer and using dtf inks? Also, what is the heat pad you usec for curing your designs? Thank you!!!
Hi there thanks for this video it's very helpful, I just bought this printer and will be working DTF and was wondering if it's possible to use the printer as well with regular ink with it's own system by plugin back the ink tubes to the head, then just clean the head every time I switch (and one question why you didn't filled with that other ink direct to the printer?)
great videos sir... is possible that you sell me a printer with all the extra items like you have set up in this video just to plug and print...i will buy the software separately...give a way to contact with you
This tutorial with the CISS kit- was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I have been dealing with a clogged line on my second white ink for months now- the kit, and the tutorial has solved EVERYTHING. Just got my et 8550 just did the conversion waiting on my other supplies to come in but I was curious if it’s easier to use the tanks on board or if its better to use a big tank ciss system?
I would need to see an example, to tell you for sure. Common causes for Flooding can be caused by your rip settings (too much ink), printing on the wrong side of the film, or the ciss being setup incorrectly.
Question I have the same printer set it up like the video also in cadlink but it’s not printing a full size picture it cuts it on the sides pls help thank you
How to set the matte paper a3 so that the white part comes out from the back, I still don't know how to do it besides that when I have done it I get the paper with the wet design?
Great video! Thank you for sharing this information. I’m so glad I found it. I was about to purchase the ET-8550 to covert it to a sublimation printer. This video has changed my mind. Can you please tell me why you are using external ink dispensers instead of the ones in the printer? Thanks. I appreciate you!
Got a question. All my dtf printers ive had over time as i upgrade them ive notice i alwaya het this weird vertical line at the edge of my prints. Any idea how to fix it so it no longer does that??
Hangry I have seen some folks have added a roll print option to the ET 8550. Have you done that yet? I’d love to see how that is added and what you need to do with the software to make that happen.
What is the purpose of the converted ink tanks and waste? Have you or anyone else just used the printer without the converted ink tanks and waste, and are you having any clog issues? TIA
When you say "converted ink tanks", I'm assuming that you are talking about the external CISS System. The reason for using the CISS system, is because your ink needs to be shaken on a regular basis, like before each use. There is no way to shake the ink once it's in the printers tanks, unless you are going to pick up your printer and shake it. My take on him removing the inside of the waste tank is for easier clean up. The original has the filters and compartments, but with them removed, it seems as though it would be easier to clean it out, than replace it. If I am wrong about any of this, please, someone let me know
****** I'm having trouble fitting the hoses to the printer from my CISS tanks. They are too small to fit. I noticed that your hoses look burnt or heated did you heat them so that they would fit to the printer more easily?
That is the most thorough video I have seen. Not everyone is so generous in sharing. Does anyone know what the clear solution was he put in the tanks. Does the ink come with the CISS and if not, what are you using? Just fyi, I found the link to the ink in the description.

clean what manually ? the wiper blade or printhead ? as i said on other printers you can clean the wiper blade fairly easily, if it gets gummed up, this is made of sponge doesnt the white ink penetrate the sponge completely ? over time thats going to get messy isnt it ? surely the sponge will start to breakdown after a few months of white ink abuse ? How many printers have you got through since your first 8550 ? i am genuinely interested as i am about to convert a et-18050 and the internals are similar. Hangry got my printer up and running with Cadlink. Worked great for 50 prints but now getting random crops where only half my print gets completed left to right. Sometimes it’s just a 2 inch strip down the middle on a A3 plus print. It’s driving me crazy. So random. Any ideas?
A brother I’m struggling and dwelling on opening up my Epson 2800 to convert it to DTF do you think it’s still possible for that model? And if so does anybody charge a fee to do it for you in Texas?

Thank you!! I had an L1800 I bought a few years ago already converted, but am going to convert an 8550 myself. I have EKPrint studio for the rip software, but can't figure out if it'll work with the 8550. Do you know? Hoping I don't have to purchase another rip software.
I have this for sublimating and i removed the wheels because of the marks it leaves. Now its not printing the last inch or so of the paper. Any thoughts?
Hello. I've been hooked on your videos since I stumbled upon them. Great content!! I converted my Epson 8550 printer to DTF, but my blue designs are printing purple. I'm using Cadlink software. Would it be the ICC profile set on the printer that's causing this error? Or is it coming from the profile that's set in Cadlink?
Yes the rip software is a key component to printing High-quality products. The rip Gives you more control over the ink, so your prints don't feel like patches, are more durable, correct colors, ability to edit images so they are print ready, etc. Without the printer will not print properly.
I removed the rollers and now I am getting error 000031 and can't do anything as the printhrad moves to the left and makes an awful screaching noise and locks up. any ideas how to fix this?
Hey bro why would my nozzles get worse after doing a print cleaning in the control panel ?? Than I do another one and gets better ,? Sometimes also my colors are mixing in the nozzle check .. if you have an idea it would help I already dropped a lot of money and I’m getting nervous lol
Depends on your needs, if you're a beginner/ small shop its fantastic, the ET-8550 has no cartridges, with very few parts to manage, and its not expensive to fill, compared to other printers which are either the same size and bigger model converted printers. however you're going to be printing commercial size prints and transfers 50+ a day you may want to look at a bigger printer.
Also have one other question... I have epson et 15000 now. I have been using it for several months printing DTF without any issues. All the sudden it has started smearing blue ink. I have replaced head and the dampers... no luck on fixing it. I have never had rip software that i know of except whatever came with the printer, but i never changed anything when i started doing dtf prints... it has done great up until about a month ago and have been trying to figure out what the problem is every since. Thank you

Its not to print white ink. Using a external ciss makes it easier maintain the ink and printer.

I removed the rollers and now I am getting error 000031 and can't do anything as the printhrad moves to the left and makes an awful screaching noise and locks up. any ideas how to fix this?
just picked up my Epson 8550 today!
Congrats! 💪🏾
brand new out of the box , ran the clean and print head test - got nothing. idk what im doing wrong. fully converted
I have a second hand 8550 it has ink in it can i replace the ink with dtf without flushing old ink out of cartridge
No. Never mix brands/types of ink.
If nothing is wrong with old ink. I use different brands
What software do you need to purchase? There’s several options ranging from $200 to $500
Hey bro why would my nozzles get worse after doing a print cleaning in the control panel ?? Than I do another one and gets better ,? Sometimes also my colors are mixing in the nozzle check .. if you have an idea it would help I already dropped a lot of money and I’m getting nervous lol

Is this printer better then the Epson P600 and P800 that everyone is saying to use for dtf prints? Which is more vibrant?
Is this the best printer to convert?
Depends on your needs, if you're a beginner/ small shop its fantastic,
the ET-8550 has no cartridges, with very few parts to manage, and its not expensive to fill, compared to other printers which are either the same size and bigger model converted printers.
however you're going to be printing commercial size prints and transfers 50+ a day you may want to look at a bigger printer.
Thanks a lot my brother I really appreciate that
Also have one other question... Thank you
