Here we named few things after the Dutch: 1. Soursop - durian belanda (dutch durian) 2. Turkey - ayam belanda (dutch chicken) 3. Thumbtacks - paku belanda (dutch nail). Wonder why Dutch Doors & Dutch Oven were not incuded. 😀
The Portuguese, then Dutch and last the Brits. Sorry to say, your ancestors were the least successful. That explains why you don't see any signs of Dutch or it's assimilation in Melaka. The Portuguese were the first established the East Indies Companies, that is historical fact. In terms of all the East Indies companies, I rate all to successfulness being no 1, the Brits 2. Portuguese 3. Dutch. Dutch weren't well received in Melaka for the hardcore cruelty. The Portuguese did some good that's why they assimilated and established the Serani, practically a fusion community of Portuguese intermarrying with the locals in the Portuguese Settlement. The Dutch gave Melaka up in exchange for Batavia(with the British) in the now, Indonesia. That clearly showed their failure to secure vital trading route away from the Brits. Although they got Indonesia, but they really didn't grasped entirely...so they weren't actually successful and it's clear with the telltale signs to this day. Thank you for your perspective on Melaka. I'm speaking from Singapore, born there but been almost all around.....
The VOC was established by the Dutch and even became the FIRST company to sell stocks (in the world). According to history, the Dutch always put profit first, selling places like New York (before named New Amsterdam) and New Zealand to the British. The Dutch made a ton of money from that, which is why they’re now the world's 11th highest per capita GDP (nominal). I guess they did something right 🤷🏼♂️
Sorry, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The Dutch East India company was hugely successful and it made the Dutch the wealthiest people on the planet. Few companies/governments have ever been as powerful.
@@ScottG88 actually, to be more accurate, in terms of the entire world of colonialism, the Dutch were the least successful ( equal to maybe the German and Italian which came late post WW1). Do you know what little colonies Dutch were holding were robbed of its wealth by the French after Napoleon's victory in Europe. And they, the French...they had plenty running around in Africa too. Thank you for triggering what I almost forgot ...the facts, I mean. Good life👍
Well the Dutch wealth in those days were shortlived. The first European war saw Napoleon robbed all the wealth in all of the Dutch colonies, which were not many. Thank you for tickling me to now remember that the French were far rich incomparable to Dutch with many colonies sucked out not just in Africa, Southeast Asia, Carribean, Americas. What's left was just Dutch names. By the time WWII over the Dutch were just getting breadcrumbs. I remember in terms of overall success....1. British 2. French 3. Spain. Dutch was in the same league as German and Italian but those two only came late after WWI & WWII.

😂😂😂
Went to Melaka found it extremely boring.
The people made it sun, as you can see! 🥰
Yes it's boring except you're looking for fun, booze and parties. Then go to Bangkok.
It's not worth travelling there for, apart from some of the historical spots, similar markets and restaurants are available elsewhere.
u must be konoha 🤣🤣
very boring country 👎👎👎
You clearly haven’t been there 😂
i can guess u from where 🤭🤭🤭
you surely the descendant of the slaves of VOC 😂
