During the old days, when there was no microphone and means to ensure azan was heard to larger area. we use the bedok or large drum to call for the people to prayer place..then followed by adzan.

no electricity and no speaker too. The technology wasn't discovered yet. Can't use bell, because that's Christianity. As for gong, already being used in by the royals in the castle for formal occasion.

1:23 the drum in mosque has 2 functions, to declare time of prayer before azan and more importantly is used during emergency like to announce someone's death or as an alarm to gather people during enemy invasion, flood or fire.

The Kampung Hulu masjid is of traditional Malay architecture. We have monsoon season with heavy rainfall all week. So that explains the pyramid roof for the rain water to fall directly to the ground. The mini stairs resemble Malay houses that are often lifted some feet above the ground to avoid flood. The national masjid (Masjid Negara) is another example of Malay architecture. Triangle motives in its dome. There is also a Chinese masjid in Melaka called Masjid Cina negeri Melaka. We have alot of masjid architecture since we are multicultural. Chinese, Indian, Arab masjid. You can find all of them here 😂

Melaka is where it all began. The fact that the famous and one of the busiest strait in the world is named after Melaka i.e "The Strait of Melaka", it sure does speak volume of the state. It was a Kingdom in the old days where the Majestic China had full respect and the Western conquerers were drooled all over it.

The gasp i gusped when i saw your new video is on MY STATE!! Welcome to Malacca bro! Melaka is truly a buzzing city that people would go to really experience the diversity of Malaysia. We used to have a slogan for Visiting Melaka campaign that says "Visiting Melaka means visiting Malaysia" haha, that "Don't Mess with Melaka" is our more recent slogan btw. Funny thing about Melaka though, is that weekends and holidays are the days when the locals would rather stay at home or get out of Melaka just to avoid the tourists; the traffic becomes horrible and it gets super crowded everyday. But honestly we wouldn't have it any other way because Melaka has improved rapidly as a result of the booming tourism industry here 😆

The mosque you visited is a mosque that is 100% of Malay architecture without any influence from other Islamic countries, but unfortunately the majority of mosque architecture in Malaysia today is mostly influenced by the architecture of the Arab world, Persia and Turkey.
I don't have a problem with the architecture of mosques that are heavily influenced by Arab countries in Malaysia, but this architectural design has a major flaw because the weather in Malaysia is different in Arab countries so most mosques that heavily influenced by arab , turkey and persia have a same problem that is the roof always leaks because there was no channel to flow the water when rain but this mosque don't have this problem cause the roof don't need the channel to flow the water. This design was perfect with climate in malaysia.
Alhamdulilah right now lot of people started to realise about this issue and came back to fitrah and started using this design again.

Most of the people dont know this. I also dont know about this until few years ago when I read English translation of Dutch text during their colonisation time in Malacca. When they took Malacca from Portugese, the castle and the great mosque of Malacca were still standing. In fact the Portugese didn't even try to convert Malaccan Native to Christian. But once Dutch took over, they proudly wrote in the text that they destroy the castle and the great mosque and use the remnant from the building to build their building

Please check first if the food you are eating is halal or not...the chicken might not be slaughtered the halal way.

Be careful when u go eating outside. Ask first is it halal restaurant or not. Mostly, even non Muslim will understand and said non Halal if it is.

Why is it outside people always focusing on diversity, Malaysia got its own ORIGINAL CULTURE BEFORE OTHER RACES CAME HERE
Our traditional architecture are far more superior than others🙄
We are not CHINA NOR INDIA
OUR MOSQUE & TRADITIONAL HOUSES ARE FAR MORE UNIQUE THAN THOSE TYPICAL TEMPLE, SHOPHOUSES & 10000 times better than those COLONIAL, DUTCH PORTUGESE INVADERS BUILDING

Because diversity what make moden Malaysia is and stop living in the past..
"far more superior than others"?? I advice u to read prophet Muhammad saw last sermon~ "All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab also a White has no superiority over a Black nor a Black has any superiority over a White except by piety and good action"
Hopefully this will help to cure your supremacist mindset

Please stop using the colonial/imperialist term “the Middle East”. The correct term in West/Westen Asia - Istanbul is where Asia meets Europe!
