Regarding the m/v interpretation, in my humble opinion, this is a manifest & real shoutout to idols struggles, & the pains they face on a daily basis: being hurt by haters through online comments; being always in the spotlight, every gesture they make or word they say being under scrutiny; not being able to have a private life or privacy whatsoever. The m/v, in that regard, is full of metaphors: being chased by spotlights; walking in circles, on predetermined lanes; touched or followed by shadows; walking on a tight rope; the wounds & scars they display; the frames, the mirrors, there are so many, many images with such a deep meaning behind them. And, by starting with Lia, the choreo & the closing image, also with Lia's eyes covered by her fellow Itzy members, in my opinion, it's them showing their support for her (almost like a protective gesture), considering the problems she faced (for those who don't know, she was forced to take a 1 y hiatus, due to severe anxiety, caused by the struggles she faced being an idol, being hurt by repeated remarks, by the so called "fans", aka keyboard warriors , being a victim, for several years, of online bullying)... At least that's my intake on this wonderful music video.
Very well stated and upon a few rewatches we agree there are some very powerful images here. This was so well done and extremely artistic in both the MV and the choreo.
I 100% agree that Lia's voice is integral to Itzy's overall sound. The OT4 versions of the "Born to Be" songs were awesome, but the OT5 "Born to Be" versions that were released on "Gold" are absolute perfection. Like they were A-tier before, but now they are S-Tier.
This has to be one of my favorite ITZY songs. There are multiple theories about the meaning of th ed lyrics. Everyone hears something different but overall it's an amazing song.
Thank you so much for this reaction ! When Itzy release a double title track album, it's usually a pumped up song and a more self-prospecting type of song. This one is definitely the self-prospecting one ❤🩹 Just a reminder that Itzy won the 2024 TMA "Artist of the Year" and "World Best Performer" and they show us why they should win it again with this album. And they have win "Best Performance Music" a few days ago for Imaginary Friend on Music Bank. I bought their Gold album and it's the first one I wanted a physical copy to celebrate Lia's comeback!! (where I live it's almost 80$ for a standard album.. so expensive 😭)
Wow, that's lot. But it's great to support the group and there's no doubt they have top-tier talent. So glad to hear they won something for this song...as it is truly deserving.
This is the very first time I've heard an ITZY song, and boy I'm glad it was this song. If they keep putting out songs like this, I'll be a fan very soon. Also I love your reactions, always entertaining. ❤
Lia did her best to catch up with everything she missed during her hiatus. And when I watched their recent performance from Itzy fanmeet, she reclaimed her position flawlessly in "Untouchable" and "Mr. Vampire" stages. Maybe you could react to that OT5 version performances. There are fancams uploaded. [edit updated] Itzy just posted the OT5 (final version) of their live performances from their fanmeet on their youtube channel
I agree - this is also my favourite itzy song and lia’s voice always triggers emotion for me, her voice is so graceful and soothing ❣️ thanks for a great reaction!
I'm very picky about who I like and Itzy qualifies. For instance, I like over half of CoachCastTV. ;) Off topic (shocker, I know), This reminded me of an interview Rose' gave recently where she talked about getting into the habit of reading negative articles and comments about herself late at night, and how it killed her. Everyone has those late night thoughts and it's good to build up some positive thoughts that you can focus on to shut the negative ones down. I never had an imaginary friend, but there's a famous movie called "Harvey" about a man who had an imaginary friend who was a rabbit.
Hey Coach! I'm back from my east coast weddings trip (not mine LOL). I agree with Mrs Coach! There's something about this song / video. Woohoo we get Lia back! I missed a lot! 😂
It's taken me a while to appreciate Itzy ('teen crush' isn't really for me) but this one goes a long way to helping. I have many imaginary associates, but no imaginary friends. For example, the imaginary K-pop executive who likes to explain how fans and idols should know their place (to spend money liberally and to pose prettily beside perfumes/sports drinks/fast food etc respectively).
This is a really special song all by itself, but it's also the title track I'll remember for Lia coming back and making Itzy complete again. If you don't like this song Kpop might not be for you!
If Mrs Coach is wrong then a lot of ppl are wrong 😂 a lot are proclaiming this their fav ITZY track. I love how u both get everything about ITZY! Have u listened to their song “Five” (off newest album) yet?
We have not. And obviously Coach likes to playfully pick on Mrs. Coach. This song is truly fantastic, but they do have a lot of really good songs. Coach says they have his top two favorite K-pop songs and this is also in that league.
По моему мнению в начале клипа , все мемберы кроме lia поранили руки , думаю это знак того что они защищают lia и будут защищать , и последняя сцена это доказывает, песня такая атмосферная трогательная , по моему Рюджин принимала участие в хореографии
No. Lia is injured to, she is the one walking with her hand injured in the opening scene, and it was revealed in the behind as well and they dropped 5 bandages in the water. SO again this is a false theory. The song has nothing to do with Lia. The songwriter did not know even that ITZY would get the song when they wrote it. Ryujin did NOT take part in the choreography again the behind revealed the choreographer BY NAME. Fans need to stop this kind of embellishments. Really needs to end.
Here's my interpretation. What if you put the last scene at the front? The final ending scene: Someone's many hands are covering Leah's eyes. First scene: The members' hands are full of wounds. Leah was inactive for a year. This is due to extreme anxiety and panic attacks. She overcame. By her side were precious members. Even if you can't work together, as the title of the song suggests, the bond is like an imaginary friend that always exists. P.S.) Leah had been criticized a lot for not being able to dance properly. Of course, this is not a normal criticism. Fans who support different teams tend to hate each other. Because they consider other teams as competitors. Thereby. Leah had been inactive for a year. This album is back. P.S. 2) I've seen performances, interviews, press conferences, and variety shows from the perspective of idols before. Tons of cameras, flashes, and cellphone video recordings. Hundreds, thousands.. It was so terrifying. It was shocking. It's so frightening to cheer, but if there's a crowd of people who hate me. It was then that I understood why celebrities and idols have shortness of breath and panic attacks. They're little girls. I can't be an idol. I can't stand it.
Great comment and that's a very interesting perspective on the hands. That actually makes a whole lot of sense. And it's amazing the scrutiny they live under.
I'm not watching it because it doesn't exist 😂😂. Actually, I did. Thinking back to their first two releases, this sounds a world apart. It's great, but part of the percussion is annoying and is too loud over the song which is quite distracting.
In Kpop unlike Western groups, they have a concept. ITs part of their brand recognition and often how the Agency promotes the group. The concept is carried through in their songs and style. Its very important to have a strong concept that the audience will gravitate towards. Blackpink and Twice being very successful because of their strong concept and how they stick to it. Itzy came out with a strong concept and many of their fans loved it, but then the company tweaked their concept and their songs changed. JYP changed their concept again, and the fans didn't like it!!! Then Lia suffered from fan criticizing her dancing. She took time off to get better. Meanwhile Itzy continued to tour with 4 members. Itzy was once the crown jewel of the 4th generation but due to misuse of their conceptual designs and just the reimagining of their sound and style- fans turned their back on them. The Kpop idol industry is very volatile!!! You can be at the top of your game with one album, then the follow up can sink like a rock!!!
@@CoachCastTV Ageed about Fickle, but at the same time..... Groups like Itzy don't have a say in their concept changes- the Agency makes all the decisions. Itzy has to deal with the backlash.
Only international fans are hung up on concepts instead of music. But you don't buy that many albums outside of Asia so you are loud but a minority voice and opinion
@@vanthadoun1 This is also false. ITZY picks their songs, and their promotion schedule of shows, and their styling. They have approval in all of these things. They have said as much in many interviews and in fan signs.

Playing it on repeat
It's fantastic!
I really appreciate how you guys still have the capacity to be overwhelmed and fall in love with new songs! Never change!

Fantastically artistic video and choreo, and likely a very deep meaning as well. Very classy, ITZY!
A very beautiful song

That's a classic group.

I hear voices everynig👻ht. Must be my imaginary friend
LOL...that's ok if they're friendly.
Hey team ‼️ excellent reaction and videos. Can always use the eye candy. Catch you on the flip
Itzy born to be and untouchable are one theit hardest choero. Too bad theres no LIA in it but those two mv are really good. Good song and dance

Yes, saw that "Harvey". There may be dozens of us that had one in our lives. And we agree on liking approximately half of CCTV as well. LOL
Hey team ‼️ I almost forgot. No imaginary friend here😂
Thanks for the info. If you happen to see a bunny in a top hat send him Coach's way.
Will do boss
