Straits was able to resist the effects of vampirism through sheer willpower in the end and of all the JoJo's, Johnathan is said to be the purest. Jojos are basically the peak of humanity, often over 6 ft tall and Jacked naturally with ironclad wills to boot. If Johnathan is the peak of JoJo's when it comes to maintaining goodwill and mercy... I don't doubt he would be able to resist it.

It's crazy that this is what Dio originally intended to do. Had he not encountered those drunk men and decided to test out the mask on one of them he would have put that mask on Jonathan and most definitely have turned him into a vampire.

I adore this! It's so on point! Had things going just a little bit differently with the story I could see this as canon! It's more cerebral than the original Phantom Blood, and I like that there hasn't been much violence yet, and that we get to see a seemingly more caring and paranoid Dio, and a totally inscrutable Jonathan! Goddamn this is good!!
It's pretty far from happening in canon, since Dio planned to kill George. Also Dio would absolutely revel in glory if he managed to make jojo leave the house for whatever reason, he's not paranoid kinda villain like kira or diavolo.

Dio is the type to revel in victory and knowing jonathan alive and kicking would make that victory hollow and unstable. There's a fanfiction called "Jojo But Like Reversed" with one-shots where the Jojo good guys are bad and the bad guys are good. In this AU, Jonathan turned into a vampire and was defeated by Dio, but evil vampire Erina lived on and raised their descendants to be narcissistic and wreak havoc on Earth. She's also the biological mother of Giorno, Versaces, Rykiel, and Ungalo instead of Jonathan and Dio in this version; these four are good.
Props to maker of this story as this is an excellent way to tell the story of Dio and Johnathan if instead Johnathan became a vampire it makes you wonder what happens from here on out
