      Agree small or large seems to get any bass size. Lure size seems not to matter

    Another lights out trip for the secret spillway! You got to explore a lot more around the spillway this time. It seems the largemouth were swarming and other times it was more smallmouth. Maybe they will come back during Sept.-Oct. That inlet where the fast water spills around the corner into the eddie looks pretty textbook. I bet there are some big cats hanging there.

    • @EngineeringHooksets
      @EngineeringHooksets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah maybe, the earliest I fished here last year was late August and mainly went in September. So maybe the smallies will show up later on. I already have my next video here filmed but after that I would like to come back and try worms or cut shad to mix it up. Thanks for watching, man!

    guess the smallies are packed in that faster current closer to the dam along the rocks- dang those largemouth have taken over. Some great fish Matt

    • @EngineeringHooksets

      Yeah the largies definitely took over. Don't worry though I found another smallie dam in next weekends video 😎. You already saw some pics of it in the IBFC group chat

    You got some pretty cool locations to target those fish! Also those whopper ploppers are fantastic for targeting fish with topwater, they are a little expensive but they are no joke!

    • @EngineeringHooksets
      @EngineeringHooksets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I'm definitely fortunate to have this spillway nearby. They may be expensive but it's also almost impossible to lose them to snags so the cost-to-usage ratio is pretty low. Worth it IMO. Thanks for watching, man!

      @@EngineeringHooksets would totally agree on the whopper plopper, that’s one you just spend the money on; the knock offs just don’t quite cut it IMO.

    GET THE NET! I've got a three pounder hooked LoL. I've never tried using a net Bass fishing I've considered it for Smalley's because a couple times them treble hooks came close to sticking me. I use a net for musky and pike when I'm using lures with treble hooks it would suck to have a 40" fish hooked to your hand. I got a couple 60s I want to try this summer I think it's going to be great for Smalley's and slab panfish I think big basst in clear water and smaller rivers will smoke it.

    What reel do you use in the Video?

    • @EngineeringHooksets
      @EngineeringHooksets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spinning reel is the favorite sick stick 2000 (would not recommend, drag is very clunky). Casting reel is the lews speed spool
