they do not work for kicking. you can not feel where you are at inorder to kick it in the correct spot to start the motor. now, if you have a very small hole it might help you. tatro
the late model compression release is controlled by the ecm? or is controlled with the starter button? I have a set of the later heads I'm putting on my 02 twincam 88, can I wire in the compression releases with a 12 volt relay? I don't have access to service manuals or wiring diagrams.
it is just a 12v solenoid. just hook it to the starter button relay. a second relay might be best. i am not sure of the electric load of the releases. tatro.
Enjoyed lots of videos since I discovered your channel, keep up the good work! Tried to find any videos where you worked on Buell engine/bike (XB) but couldn’t find any, is there any? /Tobbe
its just a harley motor. they are all about the same and you fix them all about the same too. some of the parts are different but as long as you replace them with the same type parts you should be fine. tatro
@@TatroMachine true, however I discovered tonight that the timing rotor is notched differently (105 degrees) compared to Sportster. I’m installing Ultima 2000i ignition + HSR42, just using the motor in a rigid frame. I mowed the notch on a sportster rotor and seems to time correct now, first startup attempt will show.
Does anyone make one for the evo heads? I have STD evo heads dual plug and after my last build my compression is up there and would like to add CR, Just noticed in your video that looks like can be used on evo heads , hard to say if it will work with my STD heads though ?
@@TatroMachine ok just did , watches both , thanks for taking one for the evo guys lol, I don’t think I would try this with my heads , and being STD could be different yet again , my chambers are not the “d” type they are bath tub style , I was hoping this would of been the answer , thanks tatro
Yes tatro the behave springs were used in some late 04 then all of 05 with 7mm valves only
Nice tool!
What's the purpose of a compression release on a push button starter ?
Can you use compression releases to help start kick-only evo high compression engines?

I've seen Evo style Merch motors with late Twinkie heads on them. I doubt that'll just "bolt on" to an Evo. Gotta be more involved than that.
the s&s ssw bolt pattern is the same for evo or twin cam heads.
tatro
@@TatroMachine So you're saying that I can bolt on a pair of late Twinkie heads to my 1998 Evo?
maybe go from the inside out?
